Last year was pretty much my first year knitting socks. I just went to count my projects and turns out I made 16 adult pairs, 3 toddler pairs and 2 separate first socks. My goal at the beginning of the year was 6 pairs! You were right when you said once you start you are hooked.

I knit my socks on a magic loop, 2.5 mm needles. (My tension is tight compared to most as I am a new knitter). I’m knitting my third pair of socks right now, on sock #6. I had no idea magic loop was considered the hardest. But since I have learned, I’ve heard lots of people say it lol. It was pretty easy to learn for me. And now I know how to do magic loop, so I’m not mad about it lol.

I'm not sure I find it hard, just tedious!!! I don't want to be messing with the cord I just wanna go and go 😂 but I love that knitting/making can be so personal and we all get to find out sweet spot!

I knit 9 pairs of socks last year. I was going for 1 pair a month but got side lined when I started my first sweater in October. I do prefer a vanilla sock with heal flap. Using the flexi flips was a game changer for me, made sock knitting easy for me. This year I want to knit more sweaters and of course I will keep some socks on the needles because that is what a sock knitter's do.

I picked up some needles last year when I was pregnant and needed a distraction, and knit my husband a simple sweater as my first successful, wearable project. I think this year my goal is to make him and I each a pair of socks, and also a pair for his mom, dad, brother and sister to give them at christmas. Glad I had the idea this early in the year, lol. Thank you for the inspiration!

    Lovely socks.
I love my pair, so pretty.
You inspire me to count my socks over the year. But I am already behind, as I am trying to finish knitting my (giant) scrappy afghan. I won't allow myself to cast on, as I know I easily fall into a sock hole. Too many languishing wips.
    Enjoyed you and your socks!

I learned to knit socks last year and I love it! I use Patons Kroy as well, however my favorite is Premiere's Cotton Collage. Not a huge colorway selection, but I love how they feel on my feet! I use two 16" circulars, US size 2. Thank you for your videos!

I love seeing all of your socks!
I started sick knitting a couple years ago after crocheting for a long time. Now I switch between knit and crochet depending on the project.
My suggestion for crocheters learning to knit is to try out different ways of knitting and a find style that has similar hand motions/ yarn holding for both knit and crochet. (Or just whatever motions feel comfy.) I knit continental (yarn in left hand) with the working yarn going over/under/over/under my fingers and this is the same way I hold yarn for crochet. There's some great videos by Roxanne Richardson detailing even the variations on within each style of knitting. (Continental, English, combination, etc)
I honestly almost quit knitting because I was trying to relearn in English style (yarn in right hand) after a while of not doing it and didn't realize that the videos I was learning from was not in the same style that I learned. Luckily, I figured out what was going on because I love knitting and crochet.
My favorite yarn for socks is Knit Picks Felici. It's self stripping and they get new designs every release. I have a basic sock recipe that I sized to my foot (high arches too) that I use plain or with a pattern, whatever I'm in the mood for. I just make a bunch of single socks that are all about the same so I don't need to worry about making a second one for a pair.

Lopi yarn is great as a woolly wool! It’s Icelandic wool, super rustic, and comes in a variety of weights! They even offer a slightly spun version called potulopi 😀

I've heard of it but was hesitant to use an unspun/roving type yarn for socks? I know it makes a hard wearing sweater, but was thinking more plys would be better wearing in a sock??

Just watched your video from 2020 and had to subscribe immediately. I mostly crochet, but am starting to knit here and there as well. I have made 0 socks so far, but I am currently working on my first sock ever. First round project, and first project using a 2 weight I have exclusively used worsted or chunky yarn previously.

Happy you popped up in my search for sock knitting podcasts Loved seeing all your socks I taught myself too! Second year of experimenting with different yarns and needles heels and patterns Favourite needles are my 2.5mm 9” Zings and I use Zing DPNs for heels and toes Really don’t like knitting a heel flap and gusset but love the shadow wrap heel and I work it over slightly more stitches than the usual recipe for half your total stitches Regina sock yarn, Opal come to mind as ones I use often I did buy a heap of solids to use as contrasts for heels, toes, cuffs from Hobbii and if you order 10, the discount per ball is great value I love stripey yarn and wild hand dyed colours so I do tend to make a lot of plain vanilla ones and let the yarn do all the work but I did recently use the Herimone’s Everyday Sock pattern…free and simple🧦 I love my plastic sock blockers but for the grandbabes, I made my own from plastic cutting boards Looking forward to seeing all your 2022 socks as they come off your needles Kind regards from Australia💜🐨

I'm just starting to really get into sock knitting, but still honing in on the right number of stitches to fit well.
