I doordashed and a lady tried to cancel her order as soon as I got to the front of her house. I noticed, called doordasher support, and they told me I could just eat the food if I wanted. I'm not entirely sure she was trying to screw me, but the timing was a little too perfect. Anyway, it got me free ramen. Edit: punctuation
I picked up an order of about $60 USD from a popular taco shop, as soon as I arrived to the delivery address the person receiving the order was walking to my car with her phone on her hand and canceled the order, I saw the order canceled as she asked for her order. I said, “no, your order has been canceled, you get nothing” and I drove away with her food. I had enough food for 3-4 days. 😂
The worst delivery I ever had happened when I was feeling generous and gave a huge tip. My bag was smashed and wet and torn and the drink had been leaking, all the food was cold, very late, and had my drink on it. I didn’t know I could change the tip so I didn’t, but that was a situation where I wish I could’ve tipped after seeing how the delivery person treated my order
The delivery person likely didn't treat your order badly; they probably got it that way. No one dependent on tips purposely smashes the customer's food.
@@heheloser7661 how many times u go to a restaurant and they give you smashed, ugly food....it's usually the restaurant. McDonalds always smashes your hamburgers
Yes but honestly america just needs better pay for there employees, it’s almost hard for anyone to find a job that pays well so most you get generations end up taking on a shit ton of work or, they take on one job and work overtime.
I usually won’t pick up an order based on the off chance they’ll tip me later, love, the person you actually want delivering your food, not the person who takes $3 for an hour of work 😉
Same I start lowish and get higher. Normally start at 3 or 4. Highest i've tipped is 10 bucks bc the guy was mad early. He booked it from the restaurant to my house.
Because drivers in places like other countries where tipping isnt the norm would intentionally rate you poorly thats probably why they cant rate customers for food deliveries but i do agree there should be a way to inform other drivers that a customer has tip baited before like a note system per customer that drivers can leave for others to read
I had a guy almost assault me and classed me to my car... You can report dangerous customers but beyond that there's not a "Bad tip" or "long drive" complaint option...
Tipping is optional otherwise it wouldn’t be a tip. Peoples ideas of what should be tipped vary wildly. Personally I do not tip based on the price of food but rather the distance traveled and conditions of travel. But many Uber/DoorDash drivers may not like that, despite me seeing it as fair
The biggest problem as a customer is being forced to tip for a service you haven’t received yet. I’ve tipped $5 before my driver has even been selected and then watched as he sat at some house for 40 minutes and my food got here over an hour late… just save the tipping for after the service. Edit: this one really pissed off the drivers. I’m not saying I don’t tip, I’m just saying if the service is horrible don’t expect a good one. I assume most of y’all that are dedicated enough to comment provide good service so I’m not coming at you.
@@alyssa-vi4jtdo you even know what a tip is? It's an extra payment that a customer can give you if they choose to, after you have done the job, if you have done a good job at it..... DO YOUR JOB FIRST. NEVER EXPECT A TIP. BE GRATEFUL FOR ANY TIP YOU GET... STOP BEING ENTITLED.
As a Pizza Hut delivery boy in school, I normally got decent tips. Cause I was usually early, unless the pizza wasn’t done early enough. And I’m kind to everybody I talk to, unless I see you be an ass to me or anybody else
@@DantheManZ-wn6zg With traditional pizza delivery, the tip is offered at the time of the delivery, either handed to the driver in cash or put on the credit card slip. With app-based delivery, tips are offered with the order but can be changed later, with the driver being able to see that the tip has been changed.
Did not know about that. I usually do the opposite... I first put a low tip to then increase it if the food arrives on time or in advance. If it's late, I leave the tip as is.
I do something similar, i tip in app and i also tip in person depending. Only once have i removed my tip and yhat was because my bag was opened and it was missing an item. My friend was like maybe they got hungry and needed the food, I so sht on his statement like ain't no way you taking my food😂😂😂
It’s not going to arrive on time most dashers/ubereats drivers ignore the low paying/tip ones better to put a decent tip when u order so someone takes it right away I usually do 5$ tip but the restaurants I order from are like 2 miles from my job
Unfortunately, half the reason it's like this is because too many people prefer being paid by tip than being paid a regular salary. The dirty secret is that they actually make more money that way. If you ever want to see a US server flip out, suggest that they should be paid a normal, fair wage.
@@jenem9618 nah not on a delivery app or restaurants people would prefer being paid guaranteed hourly. More like want to see a business flip out tell them they should pay their employees at least minimum wage. And they’ll say we’ll go bankrupt. TF you talking about?
@@ok.ok.5735 Not talking about delivery apps. I literally said "server". I interpreted the other person's comment to be talking about tip culture in general. Go on any comment section about tipping in restaurants and you'll see servers arguing to the death to preserve tipping, because they make more money that way than they would if they made a standard fair wage. I'd post screenshots here if I could. If you look long enough, you'll see plenty of delivery drivers arguing in favor of tip culture as well, though I haven't seen it as much with drivers.
@@jenem9618 I was literally talking about restaurants too specifically servers who’s job pays them $2.14/hr before tips the $2.14 is what the restaurant pays them. Does what I’m saying make sense?
Being in the UK and watching tipping being such a massive thing in the US makes me so happy to be a Brit because delivery drivers don’t rely on tips and customers aren’t forced to give them
I honestly wish they would set a tip minimum Even 5$ the least Bc I’ve seen trips for 2$ and someone expects you to drive 9+ miles for that Like heck no. Or take off the tips like you say. And make the trips a certain amount and above bc I bet you you will have more loyal and reliable drivers
You pay for the service don't you? It's not really a tip. It's a bid for your offers acceptance. The driver is running his own business . He is not employed by anyone else.
Lmao in all honesty I am an avid +$10 of what I’d originally tip kind of tip baiter AT NIGHT when there is drivers in the area late night avoiding the order/accepting then sitting on the order/accepting then cancelling it. I remove the tip once the driver picks up my order but I’ll still leave a couple dollars outside.
One thing I learned about tipping as a delivery driver is you cannot predict who will tip or “What area will tip well” or anything like that. People who tip will always tip, people who don’t, won’t. There is very little room for your performance or anything else to play a role. Don’t overthink it, just do the job.
On an average, I don't tip. I don't think it's plausible to do so unless that person has gone beyond the call of duty. That being said, when I do tip, it's usually half of what I paid for, because I really appreciate passion and ambition out of people. In any case, if someone is relying on tips to balance what they don't get paid, there's something very wrong with their employer/company.
@@fried_fries What I hate the most is that this culture has become contagious and is more prevalent in Latin America, in the jobs where tips are received, the base salary is much lower than the minimum wage or sometimes non-existent, it's a somewhat toxic culture.
One of the worst things that you can encounter as a customer is paying for a service and not getting it or receiving bad service because of tipping. Tip baiting is a reaction to an action.
I mean why tip poorly to someone’s who’s driving out to pick your food up and driving all the way to leave it at your doorstep. It’s not right that you get poor service for tipping a little But it’s also not right that you get tipped too poorly for the task or job you’re doing for someone else
it is extra scummy for sure. When I was young, I struggled to survive working minimum wage jobs for many years. I started a successful business about 4 years ago. I will never forget how hard that struggle was. I can now afford to tip very well, and I always do because I know how hard they're struggling financially. I've had people literally cry, it helped them so much. People who can afford to tip and don't are scum.
I COULDN’T imagine being STUPID enough to send a complete stranger MY HOME ADDRESS, then when they arrive try to screw them over. Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard, you don’t know what that driver is going thru, anyone canceling their order on purpose could put him right over the edge and then he has your address forever and when he finally snaps, guess where he’s gonna think to go to. Guess who he’s gonna plan to hurt or do things to. People really have to wise up, even if you say “well I got guns so let him come”, you’re seriously stupid enough to let a guy come with a gun, while you wait at any given moment not knowing if he will come while you’re showering, in bed, etc and then what happens when he gets the drop on you? Or let’s say you do see him coming and get your guns, well now you just caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to your own home with all the bullet holes and just because you see him coming first doesn’t mean you’ll win the fight. Plus if you have a mom, daughter, family and you put them in danger just because you want some free food. That’s really next level stupid if you ask me.
No they have it every time. Worst thing that can happen to them is they have to go get food. Worst thing that happens to you is you lose you job and ability to Dash if someone chooses to make a big enough deal about it. Set it up to look like you tampered with food
@@smartguy632 because there's just as much evidence out there of the drivers eating your food. Taking stuff out of it. Doing things to it, and stealing it once dropped off.
@Smart Guy because I've had few times where the driver doesn't even come remotely to where I live according to the gps and marks it as delivered at a location 5 minutes away from me after I have left a 20% tip. The only time i ever changed my tip after i got my food, was when the driver messed with my shake. I been living in the same area for over 20 years and been going to the restaurant for over 15 years. I even worked there over a summer when i was younger. I know what the shake taste like. I worked over 55 hours at work that week and was my only day off. I ordered my regular meal which usually come within 30 minutes. The guy got the meal pretty quick (remember you can see where the car is on the map in Uber), then he parked in an apartment complex down the road. I thought hey he must have had another order that he was delivering. He sat in the same spot for a long time. Long enough that it went over the late time. I was about call him when he finally moved. He dilvered the meal and the shake. I opened my door as he was going down the staircase, and the guy just shouted behind him that he dropped my shake. I was disappointed but i just shrugged it off. Late times happen and clumsiness exist. It wasnt until i openned my the lid of the shake that realize that there was whipped cream all of the way of the lid. I poked around the cream and figured out that it was most of the cup. I could see the residue of strawberry shake on the side of the cup. I tried it and it tasted like moter oil. It made me feel sick. There is nothing at the restaurant that would leave that taste. I froze the shake in my freezer in case i hear something about some poisoning. I then went to Uber and change his tip to $2 to cover gas. Then i connect help to warn about the guy My best bet was he must have lived at the apartment building and he either spilled most of the shake or he ate most of the shake then he spiked it with something and tried to cover it up. I do not pay to be poison. As for going to the restaurant again... i ate there earlier today with my dad for a quick lunch before work, the shake tasted like how it has 99% of time, no motor oil taste.
I keep cash on me for either homeless people or for when I order out through door dash, I don't want the homeless going without beer and food and I don't want someone whose doing work for an entity that could completely take their drivers tip. If you give you'll receive and that is why I tip so large, always.

I wouldn't do anything to anyone's order, or leave it some place and say it was delivered. But I also won't take any more orders from them. In this instance, it's where customers are taking advantage of drivers. Are there bad drivers as well as bad customers? Absolutely. Personally I'd rather get a flat rate where tips can actually BE tips again, and not wages. But companies don't want to do that because then they'd actually have employees and not contractors. Trust me when I say it's not the drivers who are keeping it that way. You're looking at how it should be..but it unfortunately isn't.
@@EnriqueMaxx it absolutely the fuck is a customer problem, because you still choose to use it even though you know the person serving you isn't gonna be paid fairly. dont pretend none of this is one you. not to mention that "delivery fee" isn't paying for the service, its paying for the companies web service and insurance and the tiny wage they pay drivers. the tip is the only thing that makes the job worth it, if you want the system to change, dont stop tipping, stop ordering delivery. maybe get that "real job" people like you like to talk about so much so you can afford a car to go get it yourself then talk about how it isnt your problem. its a service, the car that they use need maintenance and gas, you cant just take from them and then pretend its the company's fault.

My last experience ordering out before stopping it completely: At the time my car was out of commission, so I usually had to take Uber if I needed to go someplace or use doordash/ubereats. So I decided to get some taco bell, got a combo meal box and some extra tacos/burritos. Everything came out to about $43 and also paid about $7 as a tip, was waiting for nearly an hour till the order got picked and delivered. At first there was a drink missing which they told me the machine wasn't working, I was annoyed, but just opted to go walk to the nearby liquor store to get a soda. Went back inside and checked the bag; And that was when I saw the bag was missing stuff. I didn't get the combo box, the drink was gone, and when I looked the paper receipt was missing as well. If you don't support tipping, just tip your driver IN PERSON. "Tipbait" then cancel the tip after you hand them the money, the company will actually still pay them a small "tip" as compensation, too.
Not tipping is just being an ass. If everyone tips discretely, the delivery drivers get 100% of the tip, and you don't have to pay any fees - not to mention, the company might actually start paying them a living wage.
Definitely not. The reason this works is because it's demand oriented. If the company had to continuously have people on their payroll at various hours they would be out of business. DD as a company doesn't even make money. They've been losing money every year in business and it's unclear that they'll be profitable until the market grows a lot more or until other competitors go out of business. i always tip about the same amount before i even get my food. the service has to be extremely bad for me to lower the tip, but i’d never take it away.
I once had a driver call me for instructions to my house because gps was giving him the run around (new area.) I tried very patiently to give him landmarks and street #s only for him to talk over me at every opportunity and ignore everything I was saying to complain. Understandably, I got frustrated and finally went out into the road with my phone to wave him down. Cue him grilling me on how dare I get annoyed and threatening not to give me my food when I tried to shut it down and end the conversation instead of escalate the argument.
Still didn’t take back the tip. Reported tf outta him but he got to keep the tip cause I know it’s a hard job.
Same. I usually always tip $5 standard. I’ve only ever had to change it once.
@@TheSmorris92 yea i always tip 4$(unless the order is significantly more expensive) (i’m also in college so super broke)
@@milede yes, i would. i think lowering the tip to like 1$ sends a better message honestly.
@@milede I didn’t even know you can lower the tip on DoorDash?
wow, ive never even thought about doing that... ive only ever increased tips afterwards. he complimented my shirt :)
Wholesome comment. 10/10

This is why GH stopped showing the tip amounts for delivery
Same here. Didn’t even know that was an option… definitely feel Karma will come back in those folks
@Edward you come across as a man with huge areolas.
I don’t often use these apps because of where I live, rural area not available. I had no clue they could take a tip away! That’s horrible. I will often use the pick up option for orders and grab myself and then leave a tip don’t usually leave a tip before picking up my food.
Effectively I paid $50 in total for 2 tacos and a burrito. Contacted the app and managed to get a refund for pretty much most of the missing food. Hadn't used food apps ever since then specially now that I got my car back.
How many miles did you drive for the day?
I always increase my tip if i see they are waiting on my food.
Good job soldier 🤝🫡
Pro tip: drive to the store yourself and save some money

thanks for the advice when ordering food
As a New Zealander, we don't give a fuck about tipping
As a Canadian I stand with you
Well both of you can take a seat.
I wish the US was like that, this is one of the few areas you have us beat.
Congrats on living on a fucking island the size of great Britain and having the population of a small US State. Completely makes sense to compare an insignificant tiny land mass to the US
I’m Australian, we tip if your service was above expected. If you made us think oh what wonderful service, you’ll probably get 5-10 bucks or a percentage.
I always tip the amount I can afford, but when they are fast with the delivery and the food is not messed up or anything’s missing I tend to add extra because everyone likes tips.
Same bruh
If you use doordash, you can’t add a tip once the delivery is done. With Uber you can. Remember that difference
@@arthurmilano2920 You can add extra afterwards with doordash, I've done it a few times.
@Brian Torres When the driver decides they want to take 2 orders from the same restraunt and deliver the food to customers that aren't remotely close to each other and both customers receive stone cold food, who's fault is that? The restraunt or driver?
@@YvngAlgi the app that penalizes the deiver for not accepting every order that comes across the dashboard, and also doesn’t prioritize order distances and the restaurants who 9/10 do not keep orders in temp control vs drivers who always have a hot bag i use it for my own food and even after and hour its not cold. next time u go into a restaurant look and see where those orders are kept 9/10 its just a shelf and if theres no upfront tip it will sit there for hours!
In Germany you can't change the digital tip but you can supplement it in cash. I hate typing digitally because I don't know if the tip actually gets paid out so I order tipless and tip in cash.
Happened to me once. Pretty annoying but I'm glad it wasn't much that was lost I guess
Dude Camera Transitions Are Legendary. Forget The Delivery Driving. My Guy Needs To Be In Film Production 💯💯😂
I'm sorry you're easily impressed
@@justsayin._. nah it’s pretty good for what the subject is. Who puts this much work into a vid about doordashing? I also noticed the flawless camera angles and transitions

@@dennisdavis6943 I played without audio but damn y’all are fucking critics aren’t ya? Let’s see you all do better 🤣
I always assumed deliverers can't see the tip until they deliver to avoid petty people who mess with your food if you leave a bad tip
They let them see in advance. Now you have to bribe the drivers with a tip so they go get your fucking food.
Those apps are all scams
They use to not
Now they have created a dumb system of priory being based on the tip. Like mf I pay you what you deserve and that’s by doing the bare minimum AKA your job
15 minutes and the right order. F up and you get nothing
So glad we don't have to tip in Australia, but then again we pay sometimes $40+ for a single meal delivery. Some drivers can make over $1000 over a weekend.
I'll do this but I always actually give the money, bc if you get my food here quick, you deserve it
At work, I get tipped with compliments…maybe. But definitely followed by more work and tears.
I hear you. At my old job, good workers were burdened with additional work, while bad workers were rewarded with less work.
It's racist to advise people to avoid tip baiters. You can just serve white people. Come on.
@@theotheleo6830 that's why sometimes it's best to blend in and pretend you're more stupid than you really are.. especially if the job is a dead end.

The company should be paying the drivers. I know it's technically not their obligation as "you're your own boss" but we wouldn't have these issues if they didn't incentives being entitled to tipping. What started out as an action of generosity is now just a water down corporate excuse for these companies to cash out
If you don't support tipping, just tip your driver IN PERSON.
Now the tipping thing is a problem that maybe has a different solution, but keeping dashers on the payroll of the company would likely not work
@@in_faustianwinterthese companies are definitely not going to pay living wages just because you tip in cash
@@krismine99 he’s definitely not saying drivers should be salaried employees. You can still incorporate surge pricing/pay without needing to rely on tips
I always make sure I tip my food delivery drivers, I might just tip up front inside through app but I guess it depends on the app since I heard companies are deducting tips from the drivers into the companies pockets instead.
I work for Instacart and it tells you when the batch is modified once you get to the store and hit the start shopping button. Regardless, a customer put a $22 tip. Once I got to the store, it said batch modified two dollar tip instead. I had support remove the order. I didn’t have to do the shopping and support even paid me for that. I literally just got Lonestar for myself and left lol
The amount of delivery drivers that just steal your food
Those people can be banned from the app completely. You don't steal food
@@zer0theultimate it can be quite hard to see ya when a full thing of fries is missing and you order from let's say McDonalds, which can be renowned for messing up orders
