I used just type how I started with. Eventually, I hit 130 wpm but this was for only a few words. Now with 10 fingers, I can reach 150 with any words and capitals and punctuations.
It's only handy when you switch keyboards, my typing got slower when I switched keyboards because the new one is much bigger, so it takes a while to get used to the button size and spacing lol.
I dont touch type cuz I most likely misplace a finger on a different letter and + it’s quite difficult to get used to. I would personally recommend just putting your left and right hands to the end of the keyboard and press the keys closest to your fingers

We had to go to another school and sit in a basement room with old mechanical typewriters probl from the 70's to learn this in sixth grade. My pinkies were too weak to press down the keys so I used the ring finger instead.

I don't use this trick because I use a mouse and I often have to grab other stuff but some tips I could recommend is try for your left hand to be on the left side and your right and to be on the right side, but your left hand might go on right side if you are using your mouse. Another tip is be a gamer
how fast to be exact? Just curious. I used to type just in anyway for years, I got it to around 50wpm top speed with it, I thought it was awesome. But that changed when I learnt touch typing. I got from 10wpm to 100wpm in only last 10 months. It's preety awesome now to type preety fast without thinking about the keyboard as a programmer.

Due to having to use online learning during the pandemic, my muscle memory memorized every single key on the keyboard and as a result I can type with the keys covered
What I do is move my hands in any way thats not uncomfortable and just.... Type. It works wonders compared to typing the "correct" way. However, i still take forever on typing essays, paragraphs, sentences, etcetera because I never know what to write.

What I do is move my hands in any way thats not uncomfortable and just.... Type. It works wonders compared to typing the "correct" way. However, i still take forever on typing essays, paragraphs, sentences, etcetera because I never know what to write.

I do get the easy typing thing but I get yelled at for never using my pinkie to press shift or my thumb to press space I just use my index for space and my left thumb for right shift
i can type pretty fast but i only use 2 fingers (3 if you include thumb to press space) and i'd like to type the correct way so i can become faster

I learned it but never used it, I didn't need to type until I got my laptop then slowly I learned as long as I know what I have to say but if I'm trying to type random letters like in those typing games I'm useless

Dude, I already have to do typing lessons in class no way I am doing them out of class. Also I never use the way it says in typing lessons, I can get up to like 48wmp with the way I type so it’s good enough for me.
