Great Video! I need to put that SP on my to go list ! I’ve camped in Arkansas. Need to do get back! Love my Cast iron dutch oven . Really like my 15” cast iron pan ! Thanks for sharing Kelly !😁👍
Small amount of advice for the pizza, make sure that you have a measuring cup or a scale, producing a good pizza crust is a science, it’s a ratio the percentage of water to flowers important and you need to supply the correct amounts, additionally with the warm water you want to put in the yeast and sugar together and not on top of salt to start with, once you’re used as active than the salt is fine but in the beginning it will kill it
Howdy Kelly! Thanks for the video…just hoping this will be helpful - don’t think it’s advised to cook with propane inside unless properly vented…maybe you had a door or window open but could not tell. Thanks.,
Just got back from a quick ~mile walk. If you ever happen to be heading West on I10 between Lake City and Jacksonville FL there's a 'Fanny Bay Trail' that's part of a rest stop on I10 West. There's a nice little boardwalk through a swamp. Check it out.f Great video!
You needed a much larger fire to produce coals. Preheat cast iron. It takes a long time to get hot. Not really too bad for your first try. We lined ours with tin foil for our brownies and upside down pineapple cake.
There's a tree outside of the old visitor center that was planted in 1986 with a plaque dedicated to my grandpa Harold "Buddy" Goins...guess I need to make the trip and see if it's still there...
Hey Kelly, as always, loved your video. When you say a pizza from "scratch" you mean "scratch." I don't know many people who make their own pizza sauce...I'm impressed. Hey, get yourself your own space heater for the van, you won't regret it especially on these chilly winter nights. One more thing....Go Lions!! (I'm from SE Michigan).
That was fun We use Dutch Oven liners or parchment paper when we cook pizza. It helps manage the mess abit. That was a cool trail. Looked alot like Turner Falls in Oklahoma. Hope you get good news back from the mechanic on your van today 🙏 🤞
That was a Classic trip! Lovely friends & loved the dogs too !! Also,, that state park reminds me of my favorite state park called Cloudland Canyon in N. W. Georgia.. go Kelly!!
Preheat the dutch oven before putting in the dough. Use almost half the amount of dough that you did for that size oven. And, when forming the pizza dough, start in the middle and press the air out towards the crust edge. This will push all the air to the crust edge and give you that nice airy cornice. DONOT press the edges of the dough down. Go from the center, outwards, leaving two fingers worth of untouched dough around the edge. I have been making pizza for over 6 years now about twice a month, and still learning! It actually looked pretty good!
Such a pretty place. Arkansas has a lot of beauty. I visited Petit Jean when I was in elementary school with my family. About 10 years ago on a cross country road trip I stayed at a KOA near the PeaRidge/Elkhorn Tavern Battlefield park love the mountains there and so many other places I would like to go back and visit.
Awesome cooking. A lid trivet is great so you can lay the lid on it and keep the underside clean. Then a lid lifter clamps on the handle to keep the lid level with coals on it. These two things are essential for Dutch oven cooking. Briquets are also awesome for controlling heat. You can move them around with metal cooking forceps.
Love your adventures... Dutch oven cooking and baking are very different. Cooking is fairly easy. Baking, on the other hand, is slightly more deliberate. First, as you discoverd, baking takes a better supply of coals. If your car camping (dutch oven) adventures are near any lakes or rivers, dried driftwood makes excellent coals for baking. Since you're not backpacking this equipment you might want to consider a pizza stone or pan. Most importantly, for baking, pre heating is essential. Sorry I missed you in Florida...you camped all around me. Canaveral, Jonathon Dickenson Etc. I'm looking forward to many dutch oven treats to come. Be safe !
Ticket to ride is a good time. Jealous of your bravery, getting out in the cold and enjoying being outdoors! Great video with all the cooking as always
You have a really good channel. I am glad to be subscribed. I do a lot of camping myself by myself and enjoy it. I am a retired 747 Cargo Captain and I do get a free pass on most all airlines to go anywhere but I enjoy Fishing and Camping. I travel in my Prevost which is quite fun. I want to go tent camping in the Arkansas mountains. I think it would be fun on a 3 day camping survival with everything you need.
@@kellyhays23 When I used one it was just to get the space good and warm, turn it off, then turn it on to warm up again in the morning. Ive used my electric heater like you used, it works great when you have hookups or a generator!
Your pizza looked good! I’ve struggled to make them half as good as yours in my oven at home. If you try again, after you get the dough in the cast iron, it helps to use a fork and poke a bunch of holes in the dough it helps to keep it from getting so puffy.
The pizza looked tasty to me.I personally would have turned the Dutch oven upside down and placed the pizza on the lid and place it on a trivet so not to burn the base 👍
Use charcoal will be easier than actual coals from fire. The best food I’ve ever cooked have been outdoors in a Dutch oven. Made a peach cobbler once was the best ever.
we have a tripod we use with our dutch oven so the actual pot hangs from a chain. That way you can hang it directly over the fire and adjust the height as necessary. Keeping it right over the fire seems to capture a lot more heat than having it down in the coals.
Love the way you cook with real ingredients while camping and in your van. I don’t even do that all the time at home! Thanks for the video, Kelly. Always love to see a new one.
Arkansas is gorgeous! I regret that I never got to Petit Jean when stationed at LRAFB. We flew C-130 low-level routes past Petit Jean & Russellville. Here’s a fun fact: Petit Jean looks like a duck on radar!
Hey Kelly, chicken, bacon , ranch pizza is my favorite. Had a local resturant make me a chicken bacon ranch sandwich, it was soooo good! They even put it on the menu. Hint... if you make it, have a sturdy bun. Try it! Plus I'm jealous , Arkansas looks fantastic.
Arkansas is so pretty but also just has the nicest people ever. i also love the turtle rocks alot on petit jean. i really also love flatside pinnacle close by outside of perryville
You'll nail that Dutch oven pizza next time. 😊 Score on that little heater for the night! The falls were the perfect way to end this video, so pretty. The Nails were lovely peeps. ✌️
Kelly, it's nice to see you hiking trails that I can actually drive to and hike. I live in Hot Springs Village and have been planning to go to Petit Jean SP for a year now. This just makes it more interesting to go. Love your videos, keep up the great work you do.
The Nail’s rig was nice but I’d prefer the compactness of your van. I’m rigging my 4Runner for sleeping in. Your pizza was okay for a first try.
I’ve been to petit Jean. Love it!!!

❤ your channel Kelly
The State Park video is very cool, Arkansas too!
So glad we got to do this camping trip with you, Kelly! It’s always a good time getting to catch up and hang out! 🙂
Yes!!! I had a blast! Can’t wait to do it again with yall!
"Medium Rare Pizza" 😆🤣😆

Howdy Kelly, @MT HOMESTEAD sent me
Enjoyed it but I think wow. Why is this camping. It’s just taking a modern home and setting it by a picnic table
Do you still wanna talk to me about Yosemite?
Howdy Kelly! Thanks for the video…just hoping this will be helpful - don’t think it’s advised to cook with propane inside unless properly vented…maybe you had a door or window open but could not tell. Thanks.,
Both Pizza's look amazing!!! 😊❤👍👏🏻🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love it when you cook out of my cookbook!

Great video!
I lived in Searcy and went to petit jean , AWesome . Tough climb
I believe in your campsite the pole is where you hang your lantern not your food.
Ahhhh that would make sense. I’m too used to backpacking idk what all this fancy campground stuff is😂
Use charcoal briquettes to have a manageable and consistent fire for Dutch oven cooking
I'm gonna have to try the dutch oven pizza.Never tried it before.
You needed a much larger fire to produce coals. Preheat cast iron. It takes a long time to get hot. Not really too bad for your first try. We lined ours with tin foil for our brownies and upside down pineapple cake.

Why is it because your a Florida gurl -probably
If you use charcoal briquets it's 25 degrees per briquet. We've made peach cobbler in a dutch oven.
Petit Jean is great! My favorite is the Cedar Creek trail.
Alway carry a bag of charcoal in case of emergency 😃😃
It's a beautiful world...
Extra nice video ❤ Beautiful area
Thanks for the video 👍👍
Great video, thanks 👍
Great video nothing better than camping with friends and making home made pizzas 💯💯💯
Kelly what nice friends you have!!! 😊
That pizza still looked amazing ❤ and leave them eye brows alone 😂
Love the videos
I've baked a pan pizza in the Dutch with a pie pan slightly smaller in diameter - it lets some heat circulate around the pan. Blueberry pie too.
Hey you tried looks good.
... Great time with friends ......... ... Awesome trail and falls ...
What a fun weekend!

Hi Kelly what a beautiful Amazing Scenery I have a tip for you the Coleman stove you can get a line longer and use a 25 pounds tank😊
Camping with friends and learning Dutch Oven cooking. Does it get any better than that? Floridahanger
Arkansas looks amazing! Can't wait to check it out! You need a buddy heater, just ventilate with slightly opened windows. 🤙✌️❤️
I got one of those too but hate all the condensation it makes!

That pizza looks good! The mountains in Arkansas reminds me of the Cumberland Plateau in mid-eastern Tennessee and the waterfall is beautiful!
So many beautiful state parks in Arkansas. Mt. Nebo is still my favorite.
Cool music with this one. When you gonna do a video & include Black Oak Arkansas in the soundtrack?
You will Master the Dutch oven. Best foods I’ve ever had were cooked in them.
Your pizza looked good! I’ve struggled to make them half as good as yours in my oven at home. If you try again, after you get the dough in the cast iron, it helps to use a fork and poke a bunch of holes in the dough it helps to keep it from getting so puffy.
One thing I like about you is you will make fun of yourself. People that laugh at themselves es come off very real to me.
The pizza looked tasty to me.I personally would have turned the Dutch oven upside down and placed the pizza on the lid and place it on a trivet so not to burn the base 👍

Use hardwood for coals, and preheat oven. Love your vids!
Sorry but everything is better in cast iron !!! Pan or Dutch oven !!!
I would love to be on a float under that waterfall in July or August. I’m sure there would be plenty of other people there with the same idea. 😂
Great park i worked there in the old visitor center back in 2004 lol that hook is for a lantern not food lol but u could use it for that.
we have a tripod we use with our dutch oven so the actual pot hangs from a chain. That way you can hang it directly over the fire and adjust the height as necessary. Keeping it right over the fire seems to capture a lot more heat than having it down in the coals.
Petite jean is the best ark state park with amenities , only one my wife likes because she is not a camping person, thanks for sharing
Enjoyed the video. You always have the best 👍
Love the way you cook with real ingredients while camping and in your van. I don’t even do that all the time at home! Thanks for the video, Kelly. Always love to see a new one.
Vam living and pizza. You are the dream partner. Ever try the air fryers yet?
Arkansas is gorgeous! I regret that I never got to Petit Jean when stationed at LRAFB.

The pizza 🍕 looks yummy… Good job!
You never find out if you don't give it a shot. We all learn a little by watching you do that. (& we have fun watching you have fun too) :.)
Fun adventure!! Pizza still looked good. Takes to long to heat cast iron I like instant gratification lol. Your hike was so pretty. Keep on!
Good times camping with friends.....and good home made pizza.
great video! I had no idea Arkansas had such beautiful hikes!❤
Pizza looked delish!! Always fun watching your videos. ❤

So much trial and error using a dutch oven. Your pizza looked very good to me! Looks like another good time was had.
Oh man, totally feel your joy about the heat! We used a heater to vancamp at a campsite at Lake Catherine over New Years and it was a game changer!!
Nice video, made me relax❤😅

You are going to need a burro to carry that oven on you next hiking trip. Grand Canyon?
Great video Kelly!
Looked like you had so much fun cooking in the Dutch oven. How do you like it so far?
