Correcting myself here, this IS a 3 ply sidewall all terrain. The plies as written on the sidewall are; Tread: 2 steel, 2 polyester, 1 nylon. Sidewall: 2 polyester That adds up to 7 plies however this is a load range D tyre (heavy duty full size suv/ truck/ towing/ severe off road) and the sidewall has 8PR stamped on it, which means Kumho have listed it as an 8 ply tyre. After some research these AT51's use Kumho's Escot casing technology which means absolutely nothing since they don't elaborate on what it is. I believe it is a full wrap of cushioning, heat dissipating and strengthening material that acts as the third ply on the sidewall. As for the softness while cornering, I was running 38psi which was too low. I now run 42psi and it's transformed the driving dynamics.
I put a set of the AT-51 10 ply on 2014 f-150, lt265r65 18.i got 60,000 miles on them. I only had 1 flat the whole time. The Kumbo at51 was the tires ive had. I just put on a new set.
Good vid! Shows that sometimes what we feel can be very different to what's actually going on. I was only recently looking at options for tyres so this is super helpful, I had been eyeing the Falken Wildpeak AT3W as well.
Heard good things about the AT3's. When I was shopping I found them the same price as the BFG KO2 and thought I'd try the Kumho's and save some money too.
Great review, I just got a set for my 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 as these are way cheaper then what I wanted and here in Ontario Canada Tire price are at a all time high.
Awesome, everything's so expensive nowadays. You might have to rotate them every 5000kms for the first 10-15000k since the compound is so soft until it firms up. After that they're good for regular 10k rotations.
Awesome. I should mention though that they need rotating pretty often, like every 5-7000km. Mine are wearing evenly but I noticed the side lugs on the front recently being higher at the back (the front lug being squashed during acceleration). Should settle in after they firm up a little. Other than that they're excellent.
Hey Nathan, thanks for this amazing video! I’m looking at these for my 200 series AWD Hiace. I am torn between 225/75/15 and 215/75/15… could you share a little into your decision to go for 215’s? Cheers, Nick
hello! thanks for the thorough review of these tires. im wondering when youre using it on a gravel road or off-road, do you air down? and if so, until what PSI and how did this tire handled the low PSI. thank you!

I just knew they would fit. That's the only reason. I think 225/75 would look much better.
