Flathead will go after a big lure. I caught a small red bream at Kurnell on the weekend and as I was bringing it in a flathead was trying to eat it! No hope because the flathead was too small but shows how aggressive they are.
Yep, they have eyes bigger than their stomach's haha. Nice, very aggressive. They'll even follow up another flathead sometimes 😮

When you release the flattys hold under the belly and gently release it instead of flicking it onto other rocks then into water it’s better for them to release gently

@@ShroomFishing Yeah I've started bringing the same little kayak net you're using in this video. It's gonna be a problem when I hook a big flathead or king that won't fit in it.

@@markrigg6623 Yeah agreed, they were fired up. 🔥 Would have taken a lot of different lures that day. The hardbody was good because it covered ground quickly and an easier target due to shape, vibration and suspending nature.
@@markrigg6623The lure is perfect for slow rolling flats being a shallow diver, it also imitates a hurt baitfish perfectly. Yes they eat anything but we arent talking about bait fishing, and there is a reason people that target flathead will almost always take one of these lures in there tackle box.
@@GoldenHourFishing The reason people buy them is as a result of how easily young people are swayed by disguised ads on the internet. The wholesalers get people to put all these videos up and then things go viral. So in the trade we have the term " internet lure" as a direct result of this. So by all means pay twice the price you need to (or more) but just be aware that just because you see people on the internet using them, that does not necessarily mean its any more outstanding than lots of other lures that are cheaper and have much better casting qualities. By the way even though it doesn't get particularly deep its classified as a deep diver because of its bib configuration.

Pause it and see if they will strike. If not start twitching it to get a reaction strike

@@ShroomFishing Thanks mate, I did start using it on hard bodies but had the same problem, especially with pro cure and now the gulp scent as they as so fishy smelling, maybe S factor or Sax would be better. Thanks again
@@anthonycox1870 haha yep, Procure is notorious for stinking up the place but it works well 😆. I still need to try the Gulp gel but I'm not surprised in the least to hear that. S Factor is certainly a lot better in that regard. Sax is good too, a bit like smearing Vaseline.
How long is your leader usually? Any probs going as high as 10lb leader you think?
Usually 1 arm span in length so approx. 1.7m. For the soft plastics, probably too heavy in most situations especially with a 1/16 lead. For the hardbody, it could handle 10lb leader without affecting its action too much.

Shroom which line to leader knot do you use? I’m looking to find an easy and quick but strong knot.
I tie an FG which is a somewhat advanced knot to tie. I recommend using a double uniknot or a surgeon's knot. Both are easy to tie.

Those tubes that I have come from the Squidgie Pro Range lure packets. Yes have a go! Great way to fish!

@@lukeyjonboy I've used quite a few scents and overall, I like them all. I like to use Squidgies S Factor. You can buy them outright in a big tube or it comes along in the pro range lure packets.

Uni knot usually and a lefty's loop if I tie a loop knot

There's a first for everyone haha. I've been trying to put the net to more use but there'll still be times when I don't bring it out. Yeah lots of weed there and quite shallow. I think if you persist you'll strike gold! 🥇
