- Hey guys! I'm Alexandra Gater and I show you how to do rental-friendly upgrades and DIY projects on a budget. New videos every Saturday! Today I’m recreating Martha Hunt's bedroom DIY style! When I saw her space on Architectural Digest, I fell in love with her bedroom and wondered if I could recreate it for a fraction of the cost, DIY style. I love all of the components, but I wouldve loved it more if that huge print was on the blank wall opposite the window to add interest to that blank space, add more flow to the design and let the green wall do the talking as it feels like a lot going on on one wall next to an unfinished wall

Totally agree. A statement wall like that, framed by the beautiful lamps, should be able to shine unobstructedly, whereas the blank wall on the left could've used that print
I agree! As she was bringing in the beautiful print I sat here whining..."not on the limewash...not on the limewash". Gorgeous room though. It needs to be a series.

The lime wash wall is SO INCREDIBLE!!! When you brought in the print I thought NOOOOOO, not on the amazing wall!!! It would have worked much better on the plain white wall. But best of all would be all 3 walls in the lime wash!

Beautiful! Kind of wish you had put the art print on a different wall. It covered up some of the beautiful variation in the lime wash that makes that wall so pretty and special!

I agree the wall and that lime wash was a feature in the Insp that brought a vibe to the space. by having the wall as it is allows for that restraint and simplicity that I think was an element to the design.

I'd love to see an affordable take on Shonda Rhymes AD tour. I loved it but I don't know how to make it work on a smaller space.

Okay. But take this limewash color into a living room feature wall and have a velvet terracotta sofa. The VIBES and my new dream living room combo.
I like this a lot. Better without the big picture over the headboard. I like the feature wall on its own.
Same, I think the art print could go on the side wall, or it shouldnt be there art all. the beautiful green limewash is a statement of its own, and it already draws your eye up cause its so expansive.

Alexandra tends to go trendy in every design she does. Two things that doesn't fit...the big print and those puffy pillows placed next to the super flat pillows. Uggggg

Love how you design peoples s spaces to make them more functional and attractive. As an older person I have had to downsize to smaller spaces and they seemed to be getting smaller. Thinking that might be another market for you. I think that you are very talented and Graham is such a treasure. I don't know the other members of your team as well, but your results are very joyful.
Those geometric boucle pillows are brilliant. When you want a little height, but not a lot of pillows. Take a moment to take in the quiet genius of this detail.

@@kathykov1 Yes. Those are regular pillows btw. Sure beats an excess of pillows to create a look. It’s a minimalist design, don’t forget.

I LOVE this idea! I used to watch the HGTV shows that had this concept and was sad when they ended. It doesn't necessarily have to be a celebrity, just a picture of a high-end design.

Love the concept. Would love to see more celebrity inspired makeovers. This one felt a little unfinished. I would've loved that print on the blank wall instead. Maybe a nod to the fabulous chair. Some cool blinds. Aesthetic organization for the open section of the closet. This very much felt like a Part I. A beautiful Part I but still.

This looks gorgeous! I might however, added a curtain to soften the window area. Thought I guess it wouldn't be in keeping with the dupe. You really nailed this.

The lime wash wall looks like soft suede. It pairs perfectly with the dusty rose velvet and the linen.
The headboard wall is beautiful. My concern is that when you are laying 8n the bed you are not actually seeing the headboard wall, but instead you look at the closet doors, which I don’t think fit the style well. So I think the closet doors should get a makeover as well, you could even do something with mirrors so that the beautiful headboard wall gets reflected.
There use to be a series on TV where the clients would bring a picture of a high end designer room. The hosts would recreate the room on the cheap. I LOVED that series

Honestly super good “dupe”. The print is too much to replicate the minimalist style. But go on with the serie… it’s great 👍
Love that green wall! Such a beautiful color! I do wish the headboard had been more of a rust color and didn't think the print over the bed was necessary and changed the vibe of the room from that of the inspo.
Agree about the print. I’d remove it. The wall is perfect as it is. Why cover it with a huge, weird black abstract print? It changes the vibe and adds nothing. I like the pinky velvet.

No I think it will be a nice added warmth 😊
@@kezzagray4659 I agree, I think the warm wood helps in this case! I would have changed the hardware on the doors though, thought they were quite dated
This is my favorite wall you’ve done. Modern, and feminine. The black balances it with a lil bit of masculinity, just epic!
I appreciate the shout outs to Canadian businesses. I buy a lot from the US (and deal with customs fees and tariffs etc., which is a pain) simply because I don't know of a Canadian equivalent. I'll be checking out that linen business for sure.

For a headboard it Rocks 💯🎯 just nothing like that platform bed in the least as it had pale pink fabric all over it... Next time consider Faux fur as an upholstery 💡 Idea 💞

Totally should be a series! I was really questioning that wall paint but absolutely love the final product. I need it in my life but I wouldn’t put up any art because the paint IS the art.

I was really questioning that wall but it’s stunning! I want one in my livingroom now 💚 it’s like a beautiful marble effect. Personally I would have put the print on the white side wall but overall it’s beautiful :)

Great transformation...great collab with DIY Danie. New pendants are cute....old pendants were great too...don't know that I would have changed them. Could care less about celebrities' homes. Love it when you help 'normal' people upgrade their spaces.

Beautiful job on the green Walls and lighting. Perhaps the headboard should have been a caramel or butterscotch to pull in the color from the closet doors.....

I absolutely love this room! It's uncluttered with beautiful, soothing colors. I love everything about it, especially the limewash wall and that headboard! I think this would be a perfect series for you - recreating celebrity rooms with your own twist. I vote YES! Stunning!

I love the print you put over the bed, the models room looked too naked without the art. I am obsessed with the sage green lime wash it looks like watercolor! Also the dusty rose headboard is everything!!!

That lime wash turned out stunning!! I agree with some of the comments that the headboard could've extended a little wider but the colour is so pretty. I like the print above, it definitely brings the Team AG touch, even if a departure in style from the inspo. I think this would be an amazing series for your channel! To achieve a leather wall Look: tear brown paper bag torn into irregular shapes paint it with gloss or colored gloss will look just like Leather... 60's look make sure you poly over it as Bugs Love Glue ... But if walls are bad then it's an inexpensive remake for a Home not a Rental to cover up bad Walls another thing you can do is use cutouts from magazines and glue Those to the Wall... Great one money is minimal !!... Also one can put material onto the Wall as was also very Popular in the 60's ....

I love it! I watched Danie make the headboard. I made mine from an old door cut down which was about 1” thick. I added foam then a fixed cover made from curtain lining. The top cover was a slip cover which could be pulled on. This meant it could be removed for dry cleaning or washed. If using washable fabric wash it first though in case it shrinks. This method means you can ring the changes too.
