ASUS is out with a new re-fined model of their popular ASUS ROG Ally. This is called the ROG Ally X! Asus gave us access to an early engineering model to test out. I pull it straight out of the shipping box to give you a first look at the new updates and new changes from ASUS.

Can you compare the fps in same games please in other video rog ally z1 extreme vs x
Ok now wreck it
WHAT A LOVE 😍ME WHO UPDATED MY ALLY WITH 32 GB RAM 😂NOTHING CHANGES.. I WILL WAIT FOR THE SECOND WITH THE OLED SCREEN ☝️🇮🇹🇺🇸
Maybe when the price drops I bought a used RoG Ally Extreme highest gb tb whatever and it was still new clean $479 plus tax $502 dollars just the original person who bought it first wanted to keep the charger for some odd reason which I thought was funny lmao! Lmao lolz
Do you think they finally fixed the SD card issue?
yes
I know it is all about greed and profit but I wish companies like Asus would stop doing what just happened with the ROG Ally X as example they upgrade a little but it is not quite a version 2 yet and then when you buy this model 6-8 months from now they will come out with ROG ALLY 2 and this model will be totally upgraded. So why didn't Asus just totally upgrade the ROG ALLY and be done with it ???????? PASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had bad luck with Asus products in the past and I see a lot of Asus products being repaired all the time !!! PASS !!!
Wdym
It'd be interesting to see the X's battery swapped with the OG ally
Plastic are thinner in rog ally x?
test the battery life
Lol, they send it like that? No box?
Haha. They don't normally but this is an early engineering model. Used for testing before final production.
What abou fan noise?
Same as gen 1. Fans are smaller but more effective.
Yeah, they shrunk the blades but made them more efficient. I didn't notice any obnoxious fan noise but also haven't stress tested this yet.
@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt is the fan noise as low as the 1st version on bios 317? Because after the micro sd thing they bumped the fans and it became way too loud for me. I still have mine on bios 317. Can you customize the fan % like on bios 317 or is it still locked?
Can the battery compete with steam deck oled at low power game?
If you can count to 80, its kinda easy to count. 7 w tdp plus lets say 3 w by display etc and you can play Hades around 8 hours.
Obviously. 80WH vs 50WH is a huge difference
Deck oled max tdp is 15w. This one is up to 30w.
@@johnhorak2000 chill dude i’m just askin jeez, but be able to play hades for around 8 hours is amazing tho
@@michaelballack3051 i mean z1 extreme is not as efficient, i don’t have it yet so idk, can’t decide to wait on this or buy the sd oled
They put the SD card in the same spot where all the heat is lol.....insanity
Because it was said that it was not caused by heat. Go watch Linus video
@firstclaims30 really....my rog ally I don't really use the SD card....but when I heard of this I stuck one in it sure enough dead. Lemme find the Linus video.
Actually its not it on the right side now
I wonder if that was the idea behind the 3rd vent too - perhaps to re-direct heat away from components like the sd slot?
The part they were using for the SD card that reads it was prone to failure
I have a gaming PC already, but I really want a handheld for nights I don’t want to sit at my desk. It’s either this or the Legion Go. What do you think is the best option at this time? (Open to all to answer)
The Ally X will have better battery life but the Legion Go has a spectacular screen. It's very large, very colour accurate and great for mixed use (content and gaming). The Ally X has a VRR screen which should help a bit since even a 1080p resolution is asking too much of the Z1 Extreme in modern games, but the Legion go can run at 800p which is a perfect integer multiple of its native 1600p screen so you get a crisp display at a more playable resolution. Pick your poison.
Honestly nothing is better than the Ally x in my opinion purely because of the 80watt battery and vrr display. Those are 2 huge points towards their handheld. The legion go I think is too big for it's own good so too heavy and their software isn't as well tuned as Asus. Asus has put a ton of work into armory crate in the last year.
@@wyattparnell2412 Asus' handling of their warranty issues and the SD Card issue before that means I won't buy from them personally but I tried to be evenhanded in presenting the positives and negatives.
I mean I have rog ally Z1 extreme, but I want x too) legion far away from even Z1 extreme
If I already had a dedicated gaming pc, I'd probably go with ally because it's more handheld, while the legion I see as more of a table/desk device.
I would still buy the ROG ally, there’s a lot of deals right now and realistically the battery life doesn’t win me over, honestly I have a power bank and I don’t use a S.D. card either, I would rather spend 500$ now on a brand new 21 extreme rather then 800$ on the rog ally x, think about it when your playing AAA games the battery is going to drain like a mother on the X, I’m sorry but these are just spec bumps not an upgrade guys, be safe take care
how about the 24gb 7500hz RAM upgrade? Sure it can greatly improve the performance. You can allocate 8gb for vram.
@@hidekilbing696 back to my point tho, greater performance means greater battery loss my man, it’s not going to give you a extra hour, just drain your battery the same exact amount as the original model my man. Companies need to get there stuff straightened out with batteries first before we can get longer and better batteries
@@jacobpino2756 there isn't greater performance it is the same chip, the battery size has just doubled
Get a 4060 laptop and wait till price of ally x drops
@@davidplaysalot8726 honestly no bro, that defeats the purpose of portability my man, just get a rog ally z1 extreme 512gb, there selling it in a bundle now for only 550$ broski, the rog ally X is going to be forever before it drops in price, there isn’t enough of a spec bump that I’d say it’s worth it bro
"asoos"? It's pronounced aysuss not asoos or
