I preordered as soon as I was made aware of its existence. The day I received it I sat & read it cover to cover. First recipe made was Grandma Lil’s cabbage stew. It only seemed fitting. It made a ton of food! I fed myself & fellow frontline healthcare workers as I have done multi times with your recipes. Because I am a Southern Belle I served with a side of cornbread. Crumbled it right in there & it was delicious! Thank you honey for being such a light in these dark times. It gives me joy & takes my mind off of what we are all facing right now. I have now adapted this recipe into something else that is really good. I have been using tortellini instead of gnocchi and switched to leeks instead of onion and added a red bell pepper. I don't know exactly how much chicken stock I used but I had some frozen homemade stock that worked perfectly. Everything else was done following this recipe that is a family favorite.
Just picked up a copy of your cookbook from Target. Man oh man! Not only are the recipes dripping wet mouth watering drooling all over myself, but the way the book is put together with pictures and steps is beyond amazing! Mask or no mask, I'm headed to the grocery store to get some ingredients!!!!!
Today I finally made this soup for me and the sausage and spinach soup for my sister! Dang it man, if this isn’t the BEST ever soup!! You’re correct, it IS better than a chain restaurant one! My sister said her soup is ALSO better than her favorite soup at the same chain restaurant!! Two happy sisters here!!

I make this often. Three subs: three shooters of brandy (to deglaze after the veggies cook) instead of sherry, GF gnocchi, and a cornstarch slurry with all of the half and half instead of flour. My sister has celiac so I have to keep it GF :) Also, I 100% opt for the Boursin and bacon or pancetta!!!
You know, it's funny. I had a chicken sitting in my fridge and I was planning on making a creamy cheesey chicken soup just like this. Then this notification popped up in my email. Awesome recipe, and the gnocchi, which I had to make from scratch, was a perfect mini dumpling compliment.
OMG!!!! That looks DELICIOUS!!! Can’t eat spinach, due to taking blood thinners (damn, and I LOVE spinach, too!), so will definitely make it without. For added color and deliciousness, how about sun-dried tomatoes? YUMMY! 😋😋😋
I just told my son this morning I was going to make him the OG gnocchi soup. He didn’t remember eating it years ago. I can’t wait to make it and use up that package of gnocchi that has been sitting around.
Made it without the Boursin cheese. Thickened with a couple of Tablespoons of cornstarch and potato flour to make it gluten free. It’s really delicious!
