This is the third person that complimented the volvo and spoke about how comfortable it is to drive. Definitely a truck I have an eye on for my future endeavor.
Hello Shadow. In the last 6 years I used to drive a Volvo 860/760 IShift 455 hp, doing Co, Ar, Midwest, southeast etc… so far the best and most comfortable truck I’ve ever driven in my 26 years OTR experience. I think seriously for jumping into the o/o’s world. Just want to make sure I make the right decision.
That Volvo is SEXY!!! Congrats James and keep that rubber down
That is a beautiful unit. That dedicated account/lane is attractive especially because you can fixed cost almost all your expenses. And he's getting in his home area on return. Congratulations sir. 10mpg average keeps the wallet voluptuous.
very nice Volvo
Congratulations to, James. I love that color of blue, it really pops. The new decals look really nice. Just goes to show, what you can accomplish when you work hard and have dedication. Wonderful video, Todd. I hope you have a great day man and Rock On!! 🤟 🚚🎸🎵🎶💯
That is one beautiful truck
Those decals look nice..love those colors..
Love the volvos..they are so comfortable to drive and sleep..such a smooth ride.
This is a great video. And a really good interview. Swift is always getting such bad press. I would love to see a lot more positive videos with Swift. .
And the jokes are getting so old it’s like they can’t come up with anything new
Congrats to James cool truck awesome video Todd
I still want to see him track with the Let’s truck app and show me those numbers. He said he would eventually. Lol.
Good job James Stewart!
Todd great video interview 👍🏾 man love that color blue as well used call in midnight blue. Glad swift working out for you stay strong positive safe God bless 🙏🏾💪🏾👊🏾🚛🛣🇺🇲💯
Great video Todd, keep on trucking! 👍👍
Volvos are such nice trucks. So quiet so smooth tight turning radius. Just like driving a Volvo car but even nicer.
The Volvo’s are beautiful looking trucks
I start next week at Greer so excited doing flatbed
That's great congratulations. Did you go through Michelle and list me as your referral?
@@truckertoddllc no I just discovered your channel
Okay no problem. Please stay in touch and let me know how it's going and if I can do anything to help
Thanks James
Sick logo.
That’s really great to hear about Swift! I had just reached out to a recruiter earlier this week about switching careers with them
Please stay in touch and let me know how it goes. Also if you could give them my driver code that would also be great. WIRDA1
Being an owner operator compared to a company driver for mega carriers are two totally different things. Be careful I think swift locks you in for two years as a company driver if you get your cdl through them.
I'm not sure what Swift's policy is on how long you have to work there before you go to another company and don't owe them anything for the school. It's pretty standard that most companies that pay for your school want you to work there for a certain length of time to cover the cost of the school and if you quit early you usually have to pay a portion of it back. Where I live there doing the same thing for nurses because they need nurses so bad. There's always the option that you could go to an outside private school on your own if you wanted to and many states help fund you going to the schools.
What kind of coffee or energy bar are they consuming to be able to move around that truck so fast? Seriously though, I’d curious to know what James paid for the logo and the install? Do you hand over a digital file to Swift’s body shop and they print it out, or what?
Question for James. Does your truck have a smart idle feature? If so, do you use it to sleep or do you crack your windows open without running the vehicle? I ask because you have great fuel economy. The highest that I ever got was 8MPG on 2020 Freightliner.
I got hired by Swift today … company driver .
Congratulations. Please stay in touch and let me know how it goes and if I can help in any way
@@truckertoddllc sure and thanks.
Wish You'd asked James how His truck is spectd ! That's great mpg. !
I can get that information for you but it might take a little time. I think they're all spec'd similarly as far as drivetrain goes
@@truckertoddllc Are You getting that kind of mpg ?
not quite 10 last time I checked it I was at about 9 and 1/2. But I run all over the country and haul varying weights and he is on a dedicated run pulling mostly light loads so it's kind of comparing apples and oranges
@@truckertoddllc I know what You mean . I have a 406 mi. dedicated run . I average at best
7.3 to probably 6.4 for the worst .
I only can average about 52 to 54 mph in a truck running max 66mph
( I go on a mostly dividend hwy w/speed limits from 30 to 55
for about an HR. & a half . The most
of the run is I 65 . It's tough to average any more in the try I drive !
Todd you are doing a great job with your videos. I trust every word you say. Thank you 🙏🙏
Btw Todd, do you have an APU on your truck? If not, how do you stay cool at night in the hot weather? Just idle? Thank you 🙏🙏
Thanks. This truck currently only has opti idle. I'm considering an APU in the future but not until this truck is near being paid off. There's a lot that can happen between now and then such as if I catch new truck fever or something like that.
@@truckertoddllc good for you. Thank you again
Great video as always do you know what the weekly payments are on this truck thanks
They vary from truck to truck so you need to call Michelle and get the details about those things
Do you miss driving a manual? My company has only recently bought automatics. I’ve been in a 10sp for most of the 15 years I’ve been driving. I did have a brief time I was in an auto but it was a long time ago.
There's days that I miss it but it grows on you over time especially in stop and go traffic
I’ve drove Volvos and their awesome. But heard after 500k better have that money for new injector cups and turbos. I stick with Freightliner
Yes I agree for sure
Did swift make the decals for truck number, business log ect?
James actually designed the logo and numbers himself and swift just installed them. They do have a guy in Phoenix that does do some stuff similar to this
How long do you have to wait before putting your own decals on your truck ?
Check and see what their current policy is but when I was there you can do it whenever you wanted to
Atlanta to South Florida??? that's really interesting. been thinking about the mrp lease. I live 1 hr from atl and have a 1yr old baby girl that i would love to be able to see more. would james be interested in talking to me about the account he's on?
Yeah I'm pretty sure I could set something up but from what I understand that account is full right now.
@@truckertoddllc 10-4 I appreciate it. I'm not necessarily in a rush. I currently employed with a great company as a company driver. But after 5 yrs I'm ready for more. I'll message you my number or email whichever you prefer.
So are you able to llc decal your lease truck like that while still under the lease? Or do you have to wait until it is paid off?
You can do it while it's under lease. The truck in this video is still under lease. When you get your LLC it's my understanding Swift has to change some of their decals is well. I think instead of it saying leased to Swift, it changes to operated by Swift or something like that. You would want to discuss it with the leasing department when you do it so everything's done correctly for legal reasons.
So once the truck is paid off it’s officially his?
@@Alpha-Scythe23 yes but you could say the same for any financed truck. Technically if your truck is financed at a bank it's not yours until you make the final payment and the bank has all kinds of terms and conditions that allow them to take the truck away from you at pretty much any point if they want
@@truckertoddllc Interesting, and yes you make valid points. How much do trucks like this usually cost? Like 130K?
@@Alpha-Scythe23 obviously it depends on the truck but a brand new truck can easily exceed $200,000 these days because of all the emissions stuff. Used trucks vary from truck to truck
Im interested.I called michelle no answer left message twice still waiting on her.
It'll probably be Tuesday before she calls you. They have been super busy with applications. If you email me your name and phone number I'll make sure that she calls you on Tuesday. truckertodd806@gmail.com
Wandering about how well swift gives u miles when u go owner operate or they lack miles
When I was there it seemed to hit everyone equally. I still received decent miles but several owner operators I spoke to there were struggling to get more than about 2,200 miles a week and I heard the same type of things from company drivers as well
@@truckertoddllc ok thanks ur not there any more
ROBERT FLOYD Yes, I left back in May to go back on the spot market
They get that load board working yet?
Not yet. I hope to have an update soon
@@truckertoddllc thanks! Good video!
Don’t you have to get DOT permission to get decals on your truck?
No, dot has specific requirements about what information must be listed on your truck. As an independent contractor, it's perfectly legal for you to list your business name on the side of the truck. Some companies that want to treat you like a company driver might have certain restrictions in their policies that don't allow for it but I'm not aware of any such policies at Swift like that. Swift treats you like a true independent contractor whether you own the truck outright or are still making payments on it
@@truckertoddllc thankyou sir for the detailed reply.
How much does the truck lease for and are you self dispatch
It depends on what truck you select and what lease you select. Truck payments can range anywhere from 450 a week to just under $700 a week. It's not forced dispatch but it is dispatch right now while we currently beta test a load board
Swift doesn't do lease purchase for Oregon residents
Correct
Those trucks are beautiful but comes with lots of maintenance problems
Good video who know mabey I will see you sometime in greer brothalook out for truck 183538
I'm trying to get around to all the terminals. My truck number is easy to remember, it's 222999. If you see me say hi, I also try to announce in the videos where I'm going next if I know so hopefully I can meet you guys out here on the road somewhere
@@truckertoddllc most definitely my terminal is richmond VA
