    So far Swift has been a good place to work. Surprised my first paycheck was double almost what my previous job was. Yes I've had a couple set backs but it was handled. Still considering going owner opp after my month since last job wasn't Considered OTR, but I have to say I am pleased with what I've seen from Swift. I'm glad I found this channel to compare to what others have said, lol not like I'd believe everything that comes from bonehead truckers. Be safe out there Todd be speaking with you.

      For guys that look at a truck as a tool and want truck ownership quickly without a large up front investment, this really is a great deal. I personally know a guy right now who is going through a lot of crap because he's willing to work anywhere as long as he gets a Western Star. He doesn't care how bad the company is or how bad they treat them as long as they get a Western Star. He is not thinking of the truck as a tool, he's thinking of it as a fashion statement

    That white Freightliner was the truck Michelle reserved for me and it had low miles and very clean but that Cummins was the deal breaker. Some questions for you:
    1. Buying an MRP truck would mean you’re leasing on to Swift, correct? You wouldn’t be able to lease onto another carrier?
    2. What are trucks leased onto Swift governed at?
    3. Do these MRP trucks require a downpayment? If so, how much?
    4. What is the 3 year warranty covering? Everything? Do these trucks have opti idle or APU? What about an inverter?
    5. As a lease op to Swift, can I decide whether i want to operate in a specific region? For example, when winter is bad can I choose to stay in southeast based on weather?
    6. What about the nice mattresses they are known to put in their trucks?
    Thanks,

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  Рік тому +1

      Well the main reason I didn't answer these six questions in this video is because I've answered him in almost every single video I've done the past 9 weeks. I guess I'll answer it one more time though
      1. This is kind of a strange question to me. I don't know why anyone would lease a truck from a company they weren't planning to stay with. But as I said in the video for details such as this about portability of the lease I would refer you to Michelle
      2. If you take the optional camera which is forward facing only the trucks are governed at 70 on the cruise and 72 on the pedal. If you reject the camera as I recommend the trucks are governed at 68 on the cruise and 70 on the pedal.

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  Рік тому +1

      3. No
      4. I'm not aware of any warranty including factory warranties that cover everything, that's kind of ridiculous. But as I said in this video for specific details about the lease I would again refer you to Michelle as details can change over time and I want people to have the latest and most accurate information

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  Рік тому +2

      5. As an independent contractor it's your business and you can run where and when you want to. But keep in mind that your truck payments and insurance must be paid every week whether the truck is rolling or not. For this reason I would encourage you to plan your hometown accordingly with your own financial needs and goals
      6. Yes the mattresses are the same quality mattresses that they put in all of their trucks. I've mentioned them and other videos so I didn't see the point in refrying the same potatoes in this video

    I believe the home spec fridges wouldn’t be very reliable due to the compressors sometimes being at weird angles. Home spec fridges are required to be level at all times and if not, they will shut down if compressor is crooked. I could be wrong, but it’s why the high end compact fridges built for off roading/overlanding and for trucking are more reliable.

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  Рік тому +1

      I understand your concerns. I had a Volvo at dart that I put one of those type refrigerators in and used it for over 4 years. Also a lot of RVs and travel trailers have residential refrigerators in them as well. So while I understand your concern I think it's still possible to work if you mount it properly

      Currently right now they are paying on a sliding mileage scale based on the length of loaded miles. There is currently a couple of dedicated deals that pay the percentage but I don't have any details on those and you would want to talk to Michelle about that. I'm a pretty big fan of the mileage pay right now just because of how low Dry van spot market rates are right now, should those rates return to being good again then I might start advocating for percentage pay at that point but right now I'm happy with things as they are

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  Рік тому +1

      Swift carries Freightliner, Kenworth, Volvo, and international. Since the MRP program is mostly company trucks that are converted over, most of the trucks are Freightliner but periodically the other brands will make their way into the mix. The best thing to do is call Michelle and tell her what you're looking for and see if she can find it for you. The more flexible you are the better it will be. Remember we are in the middle of several global crisis's s at the same time including supply chain issues, chip shortages, and new and used truck shortages. Trucks with any company are hard to come by right now and you have to be willing to bend a little bit

    I need enlightening .. say that truck is 100,000 with 3 year lease paying 800 a week with 15 k balloon payment .. with swift paying 1.15 a mile and isn’t percentage what is the profit because you get a truck but after you own it it has a lot miles.. sure you wouldn’t even have a truck if not for leasing and it give you Chance to have a truckbut being that it’s not percentage pay are you profiting really ?

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  Рік тому +1

      Well there's several things here that are wrong in your comment. First of all the very lowest paying load that Swift offers is $1.15 a mile. The average load pays much more than that. Secondly you're not thinking about the fuel surcharge which adds almost 70 cents per mile this week. Also you're not considering that when you do percentage pay you have to give a certain percentage to the company. For example at my last company I was on percentage and I had to give 30% to the company. Also you're not considering on percentage pay that you cover all your dead head. Here I get paid a small rate for deadhead and my tolls are covered which they were not when I was paid percentage. Also if you read the news or watch my Friday video that I will be doing, you will see that spot market rates have been falling for quite some time now. I'm going to show on Friday the national average rates for dry van, reefer, and flatbed. On percentage pay you would have to average over $3 a mile on every single load to make the equivalent of what I'm making here at Swift. As for the last part of your question, yes I'm very profitable here, most weeks I take home between 2300 and 3200 a week after all expenses. Very few percentage drivers can say that right now, especially doing dry van. Again I encourage you to watch this upcoming Friday's video where I will be discussing this subject in depth

    • @kingsleysarfo.
      @kingsleysarfo. Рік тому +1

      …. Ok let me see if this example is valid… say 2000 miles for the week multiplied by 1.15cpm just example .. gives you 2300 for the week now your truck payment comes to 700 a week .. places you 1600 now and u spend on fuel 2000 miles is divided by say 6.5 mpg 307 gallons now multiplied by say $5.30 a gallon places you at about 1600$ for the week in gas so now that you had 1600 left and the gas took it all.. now the fuel surcharge In this example would be 67cent because for THIS example of 5.30 the average minus the base 1.25 then dived by 6.0 mpg you get 67 and then you multiply 67 by the 2000 miles which gives you 1340$ back Fsc …. Am I atleast right on that ?

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  Рік тому

      Okay once again we have a lot of assumptions that are incorrect. First of all I told you that the rate per mile will average much higher than that. Next let's talk about truck payment, you figured it at $700 a week. You must not have watched any of my videos or you would have known that I've got the highest truck payment you can have here and mine is not even $700 a week. Next you said that you were figuring fuel at $5.30 per gallon. You are about a dollar a gallon off on your average. If you had been watching my videos you would know about the fuel card I use that gives me big savings. I find a lot of guys here take home between two and three thousand dollars a week but it's hard to give you specifics because it depends on each individual person and how well they buy Fuel and what part of the country they run. All I can tell you so far is that your numbers are way off

      @@truckertoddllc I found Cummins perform well and look good and I found they are easy to upgrade to increase performance and fuel economy but they will have problems that detroits just don't have.
