Do have to have your permit before you go to school I am interested in driving for swift

No you don't. They will train you and test you out at the academy. They will then send you home with a sealed envelope for you to turn in to the DMV/DPS or tax collector to have your license upgraded to CDL-A so you can go out with your trainer
