  • Installing cabinets may seem easy, but several factors can make it challenging to get them perfectly flush.
One problem we often encounter is bowed or humped walls, which require meticulous attention to detail. In this video, Jake walks us through the process of installing and scribing these upper cabinets at a new home build.

This video is a good example of what separates the pros from the amateurs. I wouldve never noticed that tiny little gap but it makes all the difference in the craftsmanship.

Love the videos but why are they unscrewing a 2-piece hinge?

Are the plastic inserts for the hinges available at HD or Lowes? Great video, very helpful and shows how something easy really is a bit more complicated if you want the best results.

Just a question. Could you just shim the back of the cabinet instead of planning down the material for a cabinet. Or would it depend like for example if your in a kitten you could get away with it if there was like backsplash that would hide the gap? Rookie here lol

Great video. Just to add to the discussion, if you are designing cabinets, you should be aware that most walls are not completely square, which is why a discourage planted backs, instead an insert back caught on the sides and bottom. The cabinets in this video are captured from all sides, which makes the manufacturing process more time-consuming (personal opinion). Anyway, the inserted back should leave around 1/4" for alignment.
