Oh my gosh... I just want to THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting the most incredible video of the EZ-Level's ever! Of course I'm very grateful that the review was awesome but the WAY you did it was incredible! Jordan, if you are the one who shot and edited the video, you are a genius! I know, because I create all of our own videos... and Paul, the way you explain things... wow!
Perfect angles... Explained with clarity... Your post was such a Blessing to us all! We are a family owned and operated company and frankly have spend the last 5 days trying to catch up with all the orders that have come in thanks to you! My employees and my wife and I, were literally crying last night as we were all watching it. (We heard about it earlier this week, but didn't get a chance to really watch it until last night, because we have ALL been in the shipping department this entire week shipping crazy big orders out)!
Frankly, I don't know what to say, but thank you!
God Bless you and your son

Love the small buisness care, im happy others like me exist and support that to the end.
As a designer, artist, and contractor, Id like to respectfully offer some feedback hopefully you'll find constructive.
Only 3 of these are needed to make a plane and level a row. The others can be a simple support dropped by gravity and locked into place. Would lower cost overall per row and speed the whole process.
      Countersink the bottom screws.
Id love to see this built in high end cabinets. Keep on keepin' on. Dont stop, there is plenty of innovation to be made, time is money, save us both & You cant lose.

For a DIY guy who may only ever level cabinets one time, these things were an absolute dream come true. I watched UA-cam video after UA-cam video on shimming with wood shims, and I was dreading the job and the frustration. With no experience I knew that only after a bunch of swearing, sweating, and wasting time would I begin to feel remotely comfortable with it, and probably around about the time the job was finished. When I found the EZ Level online and watched their videos, it immediately made far more sense to me. Why spend the time becoming proficient at using wood shims for what might be my one and only cabinet leveling project, when the EZ Level system is so incredibly easy?
Like others have mentioned here, our granite installers also asked who installed the cabinets. They said it was the first install they've had in a long time where they didn't have to shim the countertops. That, on my very first cabinet install. Great product, and absolutely zero buyer's remorse.

We did for years (like most installers), but what a time suk! First you have to acquire the materials (lumber)... then layout and build it... then "level" it... the carefully set the cabinets onto the new base... then fasten them. Really? With the EZ's, we simply install them (15 minutes)... the level them (5-8 minutes). Done. Perfect. Waterproof. Stays put.

I've been seeing suspended cabinets a few inches off the floor. No toe kick. Bolted to the wall.
If the sink or dishwasher floods the kitchen, you have about 5 inches before the cabinet is sitting in water.
It takes a bit of blocking pre-installed behind the drywall so you can be certain of hitting something solid with any screw, rather than hunting for studs.
The tiny space of EZ-Level lets dirt in, but no access to clean under.
The suspended cabinets, you can get under to clean. I like clean.

Shims are by far the fastest and easiest way to level base cabinets. I've used this method as a kitchen installer for 47 years. It's simple and foolproof and will work as easily on a run of 2 cabinets or a run of 10 cabinets.
Use 2 shims stacked together in opposing directions. Place them on the sides of the cabinet under the corner of the cabinet where needed. Use a small pry bar to just take the weight of the cabinet off the shims and it’s easy to raise and lower the corner of the cabinet to the desired height by sliding the shims back and forth along their length. Repeat on all four corners of the cabinet as necessary to level it. When you place the next cabinet in the run it will sit on the ends of the shims protruding from the first cabinet. That automatically sets it the same height as the first cabinet. Shim the other side of the second cabinet to level it and fasten it to the first. Then just continue in the same manner along the entire run of cabinets. The only shims that will need to be trimmed are the ones at the ends of the run.

In Australia we have either cheap plastic threaded legs that we wind up and down to level then screw a kick front to cover them.
Or a seperate kick frame and cabinet system where the kick frames are scribed to the floor then cabinets places ontop
Or a french cleat system of screwing a rail to the wall and hanging cabinets
Largely most cabinetmakers/installers use the kick frame system. But there is often a combination of systems too.

I'm in the midst of a house remodel, and going into it, I had no experience in... well, any of it. Hence my finding this UA-cam channel several months ago. (I love the channel, by the way!) Lucky for me, I got the opportunity to install cabinets in our kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Fortunately our kitchen cabinet design contractor recommended these EZ Levelers. We spent the money for them for all the cabinets that are eventually going to have quartz countertops installed on top. However, we didn't buy them for some of our floor-standing 8-foot-tall cabinets. I had to use shims. But having already personally experienced the EZ Levelers, I wished I had bought them for all the tall cabinets too! I wasted more than 2 days getting those cabinets plumb and level with shims on sloped floors and walls out of plumb. It would have only taken an hour with the EZ Levelers. I don't stand to make any money from posting about this, I'm just a happy do-it-yourselfer in Oregon that wants to echo the sentiment of this video. I really like and appreciate this product and want to point out that they shine even more in complex kitchen countertop scenarios like mine where I have 3 lower cabinets in a run where 1 of them is offset at a 45 degree angle. Leveling those with shims alone would have been a nightmare, but it was easy and relatively stress free.

Because cabinetry boxes are constructed dead-on sized, I usually lay in the back shims set dead-on to my reference line, then lay the boxes in on top, adjusting the accessible fronts. Also by sharing shims (resting joining boxes on the same shims) it easily assists the set up. Great innovative ideas but these could get a little costly are large builds. My cabinet shop uses black plastic levelers, just reach in and turn them to raise and drop the cabinet, toe kicks clip into the legs cleanly using an ajustable clop. They cost less than 2$. Alternately, you can use a full-length plywood rail and level it properly with a lazer line, then drop your cabinet run on top, kinda like leveling out the floor. Most cabinets we produce are full overlay with no notched gables; it is a waste of space and material. Every gable takes 4" of extra material that adds up. Not hating on the levelers, most cabinets are CNC cut these days, and they make the pinholes for the plastic levelers, 1 screw and pressure fit, and you are done.

Why not use a "french cleat" on the back of the cabinet and wall? a 1/2 piece of scrap plywood could be used to attach it to the wall with a laser level. Then attach the corresponding piece to the backs of the cabinets and hang in place. By locking the back of the cabinets in to a level plane the front would be a lot easier. Could also use a straight edge to level the whole group of cabinets together then shim.
I've installed an ikea kitchen and it used a setup similar to this. There is a rail on the wall and then 2 front feet per cabinet. The feet screw in/out to adjust level.

Thanks for the demo! I have seen these for a while now and had considered the cost vs time? After years of setting cabinets i have a maybe a different approach to setting base's than you. I only buy "cedar shims" and if i went through a whole bundle on and install??? that kitchen would be a horror show. But I also do not always shim UP. Typically most kitchens that are significantly out half gets shimmed up and the other half gets planned down. This has a lot to do with design variables ( to numerous to discuss hear ) but in a nut shell any visible exposed end I want touching the floor ( I am not a "SHOE" fan and is not typical in my area, especially around my toekick ) So "frustration Levels" are manageable only because it has become part of the job. I certainly see the time benefit the same as the expense vs. time when using "Schluter" products. Cheers

It is awesome that you are doing a video on the EZ-Level system. I just purchased a complete set for a 24 inch cabinet and a complete set for a 21 inch cabinet as a test bed to see if I want to use this system for my new Custom kitchen cabinets build. These will be used for the custom cabinets I am building for 2 of my restrooms. I am in the process of squaring up and leveling the restrooms walls. along with the tub walls in one bath. My drywall guy is not too hapopy as he has to wait for me at the moment but when it is all said and done he will be a happy guy. At 16.50 per set and if you provide the company your Contractor lic you can get contractor price and or whole sale. What I like about this system is it will work with ladder bases too for cabinets. their customer service was very responsive to my inquiry before order and sent me a follow up after my purchase to see if I was satisfied with the product.

did some math for that setup it cost them $82.50 for the easy levers. if a cabinet installer cost $35 a hour (low end on line rates) if it saves 3 hours of time it would save $105 or 1.5 hours at $65 at a total of $95. so they easily saved them major money if they hired out the job.

Cabinet nightmare story, here is one in my kitchen. It took us four days to install the two upper and two lower cabinets, and they are still not straight (IKEA furniture with leveling feet). One whole day was taken up by the upper cabinet frame because the wall was made of rock and clay and wouldn't hold the screw taps, so we had to use quick cement to fix the tabs to the walls before we could attach the block of wood that would then hold the cabinets. There was a lot of measuring and drilling, and fingers crossed that it fits. Which it did. However, the lower cabinets couldn't be installed with the facing flush because the old chimney made an odd angle. And the rails that came with the IKEA kit was useless, so the same trick as the upper cabinets had to be used. The leveling feets had to be turned until the level was perfect. When we installed the countertop, we found that it wasn't perfect and used chimes to make it work. I sure wish we had a laser level back then. That was a nightmare that we will never repeat, hopefully.
Wonderful video. I love watching your work.

    • @dfs7979
      @dfs7979 2 роки тому

@@Saki630 Well, when laying base cabinets one of the first things you do is mark out the layout then check the floor with a story stick and laser to find the high point. You then just mark the high point on the stick and tape shims to the floor as needed where the cabinet supports will rest. You then just need to set the base cabinets on the already level shims - no adjustments needed unless your base cabinets were built out of square.
Edit: it’s a very similar approach to setting base cabinets where the kick is separate from the rest of the carcass. In that case you level the kick first then set the cabinet on the level kick.

That’s why I always built custom cabinetry designed and built to the length of the walls. There is no modular cabinets you have to level and screw together and the custom cabinets are much better looking since you don’t have those long seams between your modular cabinets showing. Only advantage to modular cabinets is one guy can usually install them by themselves. Custom cabinetry takes two men at the very least. In some cases with larger heavier custom cabinetry it may take 4 men to get it installed depending on the men’s strength?
