Hey Kath, I’m not usually a commenter, but wanted to reach out. My mindset is exactly the same as yours when it comes to weight gain, it absolutely messes with my focus/intentions and I really struggle to think of anything else, even a small gain can set me back weeks, and like you I feel like I’ve let myself down. This is when I can really fall off of the wagon and give up stepping on the scales, which then leads to further weight gain, and the cycle repeats itself. Anyway this isn’t about me, but I wanted to reassure you that you’re not alone x
Cath you sound disheartened sweetheart, please stop beating yourself up, I can see & hear how it's getting to you. You will get back on track 100% you have the support of Laura & all us. You are doing great, & by being honest & up front shows you are passionate about your journey. It's been Christmas & from what I've seen you both have done great food wise, ok you've had extra coffee & some chocolates, you are only human at the end of the day, you will you are getting back on track. I've done slimming in the past so I know how or what you're going through. You should be bloody proud of yourself sweetheart. I haven't watched the rhubarb dessert yet but I will as I love it & have some in the freezer. I was surprised when you spoke of your attloment, I love growing veggies, I only have a small garden but I've had some great harvests, carrots, onions, potatoes etc, I have two raised beds & my hubby made me like a higher type raised bed just before Christmas ready for this year, I grow my potatoes in big tubs, oh I love being outside & reaping the rewards, makes me happy 😊 xx
What a wonderful message, Carol. Thank you. We have done our best over Christmas but it is a tricky time for most people food wise. The rhubarb desert was lovely and I think that recipe will be up tonight - it's well worth a try and we still have a portion each left for today! Yayyy!! We started growing veggies in our garden years ago. We did well doing it that way and when lockdown hit it was a bit of a lifesaver having that to tend to. Courgettes, leeks etc always did well in the garden but we have yet to grow a carrot (in the garden or allotment) which doesn't look like a three legged something doing some twisted dance! More sand needed next time, wethink! How lovely having raised beds - this is one of our plans this year with the garden ... to have raised beds to make it easier for ourselves. Being outside is such a tonic. I can see why more and more health professionals recommend it! xx
So good to hear you both. I have been off plan for about 8 weeks, just can't get my head back in it. Being physically ill means it's harder to cook and prepare food but eating crap makes me feel worse. Hoping I can get back in the zone soon. Really appreciate you sharing as I don't feel so alone. Take care both. xx
Oh Faith it is so hard when you're not feeling up to coming. We know that feeling. I currently have potatoes in the air fryer so I can have snacks if I am hurting or feeling snackish. Snackets! Lol. Sometimes we just have to throw something together until we feel well enough to cook.... And when we do, we cook double so we have spare in the freezer. I'm sure you'll get back in it. You're not alone xx
When you go to group group routine is so important, you are both so relatable and honest it’s a pleasure to watch and get to know you. All the best for 2025 you will find your groove again and we are all right behind you ❤ xxx
I think you should both be really proud of yourselves for still trying at what is a stressful time . There’s nothing wrong with enjoying what you eat and sharing good times with loved ones and yet we all end up feeling guilty for it which is bonkers . It’s just a short period and you can get back on track with healthy eating . A few pounds gained or lost don’t define you and we all struggle especially me . I hate seeing you down but you are human and allowed to have feelings but know that we all wish you well and are like you needing to get our mojo back. Now all I need is some food police to help keep me on track 😂 Happy New Year and may 2025 be everything you hope for x
Thank you so much for your kind words Marta! I am not really the food police! LOL I was just gently encouraging Cath in the right direction whilst not stopping her from doing what she was doing because stopping her would make her go further into that funk! We are OK and filming this has helped greatly, as has reading all the comments. Thank you xx
You are such lovely ladies and I find I can totally relate to what you are saying. I definitely understand feeling the disconnect and even deviating from the plan throws me completely and I feel upset that I haven’t managed to keep control. Keep up the good work we are all behind you and you are definitely mine, and I know many others, inspiration. xx
Thank you so much for your kind words. It is reassuring to hear that the "disconnect" is something others feel too. We are definitely going to keep going xx
Hey ladies ❤ I think a lot of us are struggling to get back on track, 7 lbs on for me 😩 I start the day with the best of intentions but end up blowing it in the evenings, today has been better, I’m hoping tomorrow will be be even better. We’ve got this!!! Looking forward to future vlogs, I enjoyed all your past ones, would love a book review of the books Laura got for her birthday 😊 xx
Thank you so much for your comment Clare. Evenings are such a struggle for so many. You can pull this back m'lovely. We all can. I can review the books once I have read them all - I am bouncing between the Christmas and the Birthday books at the moment xx
Cath and Laura you can do this, I love you two! I went to group on the 30th of December, thinking it would get me back on track, big mistake I put 5lbs on , and it completely messed with my head. I'm still struggling to get any consistency back since! Let's reset from here on and do this together! Happy New Year, sending love and hugs. xx
This is exactly what I was hoping for. ( Not for you to put on 5lbs) but to have the opportunity for us all to pull together and give each other the encouragement to reset and say its ok. I'm with you on this! Thanks so much for your comment! Lets keep going! :)
It's very difficult sometimes to put into words how you feel Cath. But I believe that by posting this video, you are back on track. Laura, you are very supportive and encouraging to Cath. I put on half a pound in the Christmas week (which I was very happy with) and then lost half in New Year week.Looking forward to seeing you both on your next video. Look after yourselves ❤❤
Thank you both, over Christmas and New year I put on half a pound and I was relieved it wasn't more but something happened to my mindset I found it hard to keep on track, I've been back on slimming world for 14 weeks and up until then I had lost every week and that half a pound has been eating at me. I know now it was the disconnect so thank you.❤
Thank you so much for your comment. We completely get how you feel. It is tricky to try to explain, isn't it? Having a word (disconnect) which kind of encompasses that feeling helps, we think, and we are relieved to hear we are not alone with this feeling. xx
Hi girls so lovely to see you back. I think the Xmas period messes with our head. We either completely go of plan and struggle to reset, because our bodies are still craving rubbish. Or we stay super focused on being good and then our brains start giving us sabotage messages, it’s so hard. Come on we can reset. Happy new year beautiful ladies🫶👏❤️🤞🍀⭐️🌺💪
Thank you Karen. Its a case over over thinking on my part and making a bigger issue out of it than maybe needs be? But its that slippery slope feeling...I think often it's down to admitting where I've gone wrong and allowing myself to move on. Thanks for your comment it's good to know how others feel about it :)
Aww carh, listening to you open up on here brought me to tears. You are both such lovely ladies and I wish you both health and happiness this coming year . X
Hey lovely ladies, I totally understand where you are coming from but like Laura said, you’ve been looking up syns and being aware of foods, be kind to yourself and get back on plan step by step. I think you are both ace ❤❤
Awww thank you so much for your kind words. You're right, syns were still checked... Moreso after filming this. I think this if and all the comments were what we needed. Thank you for being a part of that xx
Happy new year both! Don’t be so hard on yourself Cath, I’m 57 and still feel disconnected and I’m still trying to lose baby weight (only had one and he’s 32 now!) I am looking forward to both your progress because it will happen! I’m delighted to hear you’ve got an allotment, I’ve had mine since last April and only managed to grow nasty weeds so looking forward to learning from you! Here’s to upwards in spirit and downwards in lbs! Have you watched Claire Howard she’s good and very enthusiastic about slimming world.. Love to both xx
Its definitely an inner battle which hopefully I can brush off and carry on. I also am still in the process of trying to get rid of the baby weight 19 years on. But it seems my tummy has muscle memory of baby bump! Allotments are great to grow weeds in fact they grow the best ones. We had a few sucesses last year which we hope to do again this year and progress a little hopefully :)
After seeing the food journals Abbi bought you, I remembered how much I loved mine (before I lost it) so I bought another and haven’t even started to fill it in! I’m in self destruct mood… I’ve only put on a couple of pounds over Christmas but it’s taken me out of target… I can’t have one chocolate as a treat… I start of thinking I can , then a handful of chocs later I think I may as well eat more…. So tomorrow I hope to get back on track! I know I’ll be angry all day… thinking why should I be doing this 🙄😂 Good luck Ladies…
I think often you have to go through all those emotions before you are ready to reset. Using your book would be a great help to keep you on track. Keep going you can do this and lets face it two pounds is nothing in the general scheme of things. :)
Happy new year girls I worked all off it but am off now until Friday. Back to healthy eating now as I am 3 pounds over my target weight. But got until end off January to get to a class as a target member xx
Happy New Year to you too Julie and congratulations for getting to the end of your run of shifts! I bet you are glad to be having a few days off! I am sure you will manage to get those three pounds off as, being a target member, you are well versed with the plan :) xx
Hey lovely ladies ❤ I can totally relate to what you guys were saying xx I put on 6lbs over the 2 weeks of Christmas 😬 I do feel like I’ve let myself down but I’ve reset my mindset now and back to tracking my calories xx You are not alone I absolutely understand how you feel Cath ❤ Sending love and hugs 🥰
Its a tough one isn't it? So glad to hear your reset and back on it. That's all we can do is try our best and keep trying. Persistence will get us there in the end. Thank you for your support it is always much appreciated :)
Oooh have you found a good slimming world Arancini recipe on slimming world? Cath used to eat it in Italy so its that "authentic" taste she is looking for x

But it is also about you. We are all in this together. I can only hope that the vlog helps you in some way. We all need to submerse ourselves in everything that is SW to regain that focus. Please don't feel bad. Its a rocky patch on our journey and we all can slip and fall but we can also pick ourselves up again. :) xx
Well done Ladies that was a interesting and enjoyable video good luck for weight in 👍🤞
Thank you so much Netta. Weigh in being saved as I type this x
