What business does a tabletop game review channel have being so funny and entertaining?! I recently got into tabletop gaming with my kids in lockdown, and found this channel to give me some ideas; I didn't expect to find a new favorite comfort viewing channel. Lol
Interesting review, even if you did call it Undaunted one too many times. Don't entirely agree with some matches being clear cut too early - as that hasn't been our experience - but even if they are, the game plays quick so you're never far away from another match, another combo. I've been blown away by how good Unmatched is and will gladly throw money at any expansion they release.
So happy you guys reviewed this! My mum actually found this because she's subscribed to Mondo, and I thought "Eh, that looks alright." But now it's become one of my favourite games of all time for its versatility, ease-of-access twinned with surprisingly strategic complexity at higher levels of play, art style, time to teach and play, theming (Robin Hood being based around card draw BECAUSE HE'S DRAWING ARROWS FROM A QUIVER is one of my favourite pieces of crunch meets fluff yet conceived), all of it. I groaned as soon as you pulled out the Jurassic Park expansion, curse you for getting your grubby mitts on it early! ;) You've hit the nail on the head with the collecting thing; I really hope Restoration continue to innovate and really push the boundaries of the hero abilities. Someone made a fan Expansion called Minotaur and the Labyrinth which adds wall tokens to block your opponent, which is just a taste of the sorts of rules they could drip-feed into the game, making it more and more advanced over time. Really hope it's something that proves popular enough to warrant sets for years to come.
They are adding more elements to the maps, in the Jurassic Park one they are one way arrows for example that can only be bypassed by "large heroes" (trex wink wink) and in a future one that i playtested they are doors that can be closed and opened.
Wow the simple black shading/wash/dip on the grey plastic makes them look so much more detailed than the regular grey plastic on other games. Maybe I should go dip all my blood rage figures lol.
Bruce Lee vs Robin Hood was an amazing match, where my buddy playing as Bruce chewed through my merry men in his pursuit of punching my hooded self in the face.
5:00 He calls it Undaunted... twice It's like your lover yelling someone else's name in bed. A bit off-putting, but if they're sexy then you can forgive them.
To make this game SMASH all others, the “primary” player that bring the game to the table should take a very important stance that will ALWAYS produce a positive game experience... The challenge to the “primary” player is to strategically make everyone else win the game.
Thank you SO MUCH for this recommendation Quinns!!! I got the cobble and fog set yesterday and I have played like 10 times! This game is awesome!!!!!!!
Absolutely loved Star Wars Epic Duels...that game got us hooked in Highschool around 2002 and our boardgame group continues to play any chance we got when home from college and finally died out around 2013. That's one hell of a run. The most fun comes from creating your own customer character and custom decks. And yes....this art is wonderful.
This game is HELLISHLY fun to homebrew stuff four. Me and a few friends have homebrewed everyone from The Doctor to various Warhammer characters we had to hand, to loads of other creations.
After watching this video I'm forever going to describe Unmatched as "crunchy". Probably the best synonym to describe how the gameplay feels 😂 Been playing online with friends and it's a breeze to explain even via videocall
The premise of this game sounds a lot like a game called Dungeon Mayhem, with art by the wonderful Kyle Ferrin, except with an area movement mechanic to add that little extra it may have been missing! Also, oh boy, the art on these cards are incredible!
So hey. Our lovely fellas have reviewed Unmatched. They've reviewed Combo Fighter. I'd personally love it to bits if they reviewed the Exceed Fighting System. Specifically any season of the game after the first, because Season 1 was as dull as a rusty spade and twice as unappealing. Everything after that will serve as the greatest kind of "Fighting Game Card Game" one could ask for, in my opinion.
I 1000% agree that this game is not as clever as it initially seems My friends and I have fallen in love with it lately, and part of what we love is the fundamentally silly nature of it's premise. We recently played a 5 way game (yes I know it's not strictly in the rules don't @ me) of Raptors vs Achilles vs Yennenga vs Sherlock Holmes vs The Invisible Man. It makes no sense, and despite there being 1 raptor with 2 health left before anyone died, he came second by ducking and weaving If you haven't tried it yet, while this game is good 1v1, we have found in 3 and 4 way games is where it most shines!
_How would you devise a rule of thumb to finish the match earlier when it becomes unlikely one of the players has a chance to win, instead of exclusively waiting for the actual default end of the game?_ Wouldn't it make matches fun all the way, while still allowing you to potentially play more times?
I loved Epic Duels. We played it so much that we started making our own characters, but they were never very balanced. We made: Link and Zelda, Solid Snake and (cardboard box was op), and a necromancer with his skeletal archers.
I'm now obsessed by 'Strip Ethnos'! I once played Strip Pass The Pigs after a student Rocky Horror party but thought extreme age and Brass had cured me of such perversions. It seems not!
As I was born and raised in the part of the world in which the mighty Jackalope is a thing, I was going to be very concerned for about two minutes when the camera hovered over a large, hairy, man-monster with a card under it that said "Jackalope." My brain said, "That's not what a Jackalope looks like!" (Because of course I've seen one) Then I realized that our be-antlered hare friend was actually Bigfoot's sidekick in the game. My impression went from, "WTH?!" to "That is an amazing idea and I love it!" My only concern is with the potential dissonance due to the fact that the Jackalope is being paired with a clearly fictional character. If you can get past that, though, this sounds great.
This is a neat idea, but there are already entire forums dedicated to theorycrafting out these scenarios. I already know that Medusa beats Robin Hood, but Jackie Chan holding a baby in an alleyway with stepladders around manages to take her down afterwards. Edit: Thank you for the shoutout, Quinns.
Thanks for the video! I have a few sets now... Ok, I have to. Cobble and 'Smog'? 1:42 take 1 damage? 3:10 'Undaunted'? 4:34 gamer's brain happening here! Too funny!.. Or perhaps a bit of oxygen deprivation..? I'm thoroughly enjoying this game. I have 3 sets. Question for the channel - I love rpg board games and the depth they offer, like gloomhaven. But I hate magic and I don't even want to see any. What options do I have for rpg boardgames? Thanks again for the content!
I disagree with the ebbing out point. Whilst yes it can sometimes feel like your opponent has an insurmountable lead I’ve also seen some insane comebacks so I always feel as if it’s never over until it’s over.
Between The King's Dilemma and this review, you've been upping your patterned shirt game, Quinns. I like it!... but you're also setting a dangerous precedent going forward. You won't be able to back down now.
Waiting on my Deadpool from Miniature Market, Pre Ordered Volume 2 the instant it was available because Bloody Mary is a thing and *that* is appealing. Still looking forward to the Jurassic Park expansions, Sattler vs T-Rex for the first large character, and solo Grant, as well as the Marvel 3 character boxes.
This game looks absolutely awesome but I live in Germany so I guess it's going to be a long while until we - the unprivileged part of the board game world - get to play this gem...
winner of [Skull], plays first roll of [Shut the Box], has the OPTION of moving 1st in [Quoridor]...ready go... [code phrase]: "The Skull is to Shut the Box, in the Quoridor
One thing this review neglects to mention: this is one of the best 1 vs. 1 experiences you can have in board games. The amount of expansions at this point gives it almost a "pay to win" feel, but you could have great fun with a single 4-player set. Every set after that only enriches the experience.
The Bruce Lee scene in OUATIH was Cliff's fantasy, not an actual representation of Tarantino's view of the man. He was actually busy fixing the aerial.
Thanks for another great and funny video. Like in 7:08 "you can play with idiots or kids or idiot kids" 😂 Next Unmatched box I would like to see Iron Man vs. Shreck or Flash vs. Alien. I would buy these right away.
1:25 I agree that the art is beautiful. Sadly the boards itself could be a bit more detailed to be honest. The placement rounds are way too big (even for the miniatures) and take away from the art on the board.
This has awakened a desire to see bruce lee punch a velociraptor that I thought i suppressed long ago
LOL
😂
unfortunately he would probably lose :( but i really want him to win cause it would be cool
Let's play Count The Times Quinns Calls This Undaunted
OH NO
Thought it was just me.
is it 3 times?
I thought it was a bit.. was waiting for a payoff that never came!
He blundered on undaunted, not caring the game he reviews and the game he says he's reviewing are unmatched.

Robin Hood vs King Arthur vs Sherlock Holmes for the ultimate British Icon? Hell yes. 🇬🇧
Yes, I'm sure that will be a tense and balanced battle.
...until they release the Miss Marple character pack.
Can't wait until they release Bridget Jones
Vs Scarlet Pimpernel...?
And Alice isn't included in this...why?
Tiara Azmalan Fair point!

you had my attention when pulling off the one-breath-rules-rundown! really impressive indeed 👍😅
Bruce Lee vs Robin Hood was an amazing match, where my buddy playing as Bruce chewed through my merry men in his pursuit of punching my hooded self in the face.
The pie chart definitely proves the awesomeness of this game. Thanks for that, Quinns.

Great stuff, this feels like a perfect game for a SU&SD play through with it’s speed and simplicity.
Wow this looks so fun and stylish, I hope they could possibly get the Star Wars IP back into it
Bloody doubt it with the shackles of Disney around it haha
I wonder if anyone has done conversion rules for epic duels. As someone who has epic duels I’ll probably be doing that if I don’t find one
With Ellie vs T-Rex coming out after this might just end up being a good Jurassic Park fighter.

The minis look so nice I wouldn’t even want to paint them!
Hahaha...said no model painter...Ever. Mini painters wanna paint everything from these minis to Mice and Mystics minis.
Minis need painting...😊😊

Best Undaunted review i have seen.

of course quinns says amongus when i'm reading this
A Doom Marine add-on for this would be hilarious.
RIP AND TEAR!
Oh now that's just unfair. I want it.
One small mistake, if you can’t draw cards each of your fighters takes 2 damage, not 1.
Umm.. thanks to Ray Harryhausen I absolutely do know and love Sinbad!
Star Wars epic duels is one of my favorite games it looks awesome that they are modernizing the rules. This is now on my want list.

I didn't realise that a SU&SD gag involving a chunky Lothian bus is what I needed to see today. Thank you ❤️🚍
The Data Dump Chart checks out, I do think about death at about a rate of 2.
So this is pretty much the board game equivalent of 'The Deadliest Warrior'? I'm in!

I will support them. WOW Raptors is $10.97 for shipping. Being released late march and will have July 7th. Thank you.
New video reviews from SU&SD and NPI on the same day? I must have an extra birthday I did not know about with such gifts.

Just like Magic, where you can concede (scoop) at any point? That's probably how I'd play with my friends

1:34 "Cobble and SMOG", an ec(k)ocritically freudian slip! Great review, love it;o)
This game has been such a great addition to our shelf. Can't wait for the first Jurrassic Parks set.
Has anyone ever told you Quinns that you're such a great seller, and my wallet hates that.
It's true. Stephen Merchant "sonnuvabitch" levels of selling.
5:01 He keeps calling it undaunted! (From the review of Undaunted normandy?) ha
I love the tension when Quinns puts his tea atop the game boxes........so calm and nonchalant. What a rockstar!!
I loved Epic Duels. We played it so much that we started making our own characters, but they were never very balanced.
We made: Link and Zelda, Solid Snake and (cardboard box was op), and a necromancer with his skeletal archers.
Anthony Westbrook there are expansions online. They are unofficial of course but playtested well and balanced.
Some people satisfy themselves with "#1 Dad," but Quinns will settle for nothing less than "Total Fox."
Cleanliness of eroticism: Yes.
Total Fox? I used to dance under that name.
There's a 50% chance I want to see that video.
