Yep, there are fewer game plays these days. I miss them too sometimes, but I also really enjoy creating tutorials. I chose the title of the channel 8 years ago, but I can't let that dictate the choices I make about what types of videos I focus on today. That said, I have no doubt there will be more game plays in the future!
Thanks for the video, i watched it solely beacuse i wasn't sure how the moment worked. I.e. if you're playing as King Auther with 2 moment; i wasn't sure if you could only move 2, i.e. if you move king auther 2 you had no more movement to move his sidekick. I also originally thought you had to use both of your 2 actions to move 2 fighters in one turn. Knowing that you move all of your fighters by your movement, it will speed the game up! Especially if you boost your movement.
Wow....just discovered this game. Currently not available in Holland 🤔. Have to order it outside Europe 😎! Thanks Rodney! Like your tutorials very much!
@@WatchItPlayed just one question if possible: when you defend and either win or loose, you have to discard a defending card from your hand. Do you have to add cards to 5 again as a defender? Or do you only add cards in your turn when you do the action maneuvre?
hi rodney. around 12:23 , you point at an attack card, but you say "the defender wins the combat if [...]". shouldn't you have switched the two cards, or used a completely different card for the example?
Good catch - yes! The cards should have been switched in their positions (based on the finger pointing). Bonus points to you for being clear on the rules though :)
Can you play an attack card when you’re attacked? If you choose a versatile card when you’re being attacked, can you use it as an attack, and can you decide whether its an attack or defence after seeing your opponents card?
Thanks for the video mon ami! This decided it for me! It cam in the post today and I have the Robyn hood/bigfoot and Bruce lee expansions on the way too!
Hi, great video! I do have one question that I'd really like help with to settle a family argument (seriously, there is a battle raging over this and I fear it will go on for eternity unless we get a definitive ruling from someone close to the game). The Momentous Shift card. One take on it is that it needs to be used on the second action of a turn, having moved spaces as the first action of the turn (so when the combat happens and the card is played you're in a different space than you started the turn in). But the other school of thought is that you can use it as the first action of a turn, provided you're starting that turn in a different space than you were in a previous turn (ie the movement could have occurred in an earlier turn). We keep trying to talk about it rationally but then it descends into chaos and table flipping. I LOVE this game and just want family harmony so any official help would be greatly appreciated :)
Here's an answer that comes from the publisher, let me know if this clears it up: "When the effect triggers, just check to see if the fighter is in the same space that they started their turn in or not. If they are, it stays at 3; if they're in a different space, it changes to 5. On defense, this can happen if your opponent has an effect that moves your fighter before the attack. For example, Merlin uses command the storms to move your fighter adjacent to Arthur for a big hit. When Arthur attacks and you play Momentous Shift in response, you're now defending with a 5 because your fighter was in a different space at the beginning of the turn."
Hello Rodney I love the video it helped explain a lot, my question is and if you mentioned in the video in the video I apologize, could you please explain how the boost works and can you boost during combat?
If more than 2 players do you have to play in teams? Also can you add the bigfoot board to the main board to have a 6 player game or would this not work to well?
Hi Rodney, as always thank you for the detailed video! I have a question, since I don't own the game still :) (Hoping to correct that in the near future), can the defending player play more than one card and thus nullify the attack power of the attacker because it seems that most of the attack cards have higher values than the deffending cards. I am asking becaue of the Medusa deffence ability. Thanks!
A quick question about combat. You each select a card and then flip it over at the same time to see who how much damage and how much shield you each played. However, you mentioned that you might not have a shield card... Would it be considered fair to hold out a different card, and then flip it over to reveal that you didn't have a shield at all, just to psych out your opponent? Or is the principle that if you have no shield card, you simply don't put anything out during this combat encounter?
The attackers places their valid card face down first. Then the defender places one of their valid cads face down (if they want to). Then the flip happens, but if the defender doesn't have a valid card, they cannot use a different card to bluff.
Hi Rodney, I have a question about the After Combat. Do I have to disclose that I have an After Combat before my opponent resolves their During Combat. For example, Black Panther's "Wakanda Forever" against Winter Soldier's "Complete the Mission". Like if I disclosed my After Combat then it would have changed the outcome of my opponents During Combat. Or is it my opponents fault for not reading the card themselves. I played a game and felt bad afterwards because I didn't disclose that I had an After Combat.
I'm not quite sure I understand... it might be that something is getting mixed up here. During combat you can each player 1 card - these are then both reveled (meaning both players can see what is on the cars). So there shouldn't a "hidden" effect your opponent doesn't know about once the cards are revealed. Are you maybe saying that you have "After Combat" effect cards in your hand? You can't add those into the combat after players have picked and placed their single card face down. If I'm misunderstanding something in your question, let me know.
Great video as always. Quick question. Lets say your moving passed your sidekick, does the spot he is on count as a space or is it just jumped over. So if he is moving 3 spaces and the sidekick is on space 2 does he move one more? Same thing if he was to stop on that space does he jump or stay one less? Hope that makes sense. Thanks
As a player, on your turn, you pick 1 of the actions and then perform it. If it's a maneuver, then your pieces can move. If you attack, then your pieces can attack.
King Arthur can supposedly boost any attack providing you play a boost card. The problem is there are no cards specifically labeled "boost" cards. Please explain?

@@exarack I’m traveling right now, so it’s a bit hard to give you the exact details. It sounds like you might be a bit confused about how a turn works, I would recommend watching the video again and paying attention to the details on how many actions you can perform on a turn.
I'm incredibly excited for this but I'm confused... You say you do not reshuffle your deck if you run out of cards, and once you run out of cards you lose health every turn. If you can only attack using cards (no dice) surely it is impossible to win once you run out of cards, so why is this condition not just "you lose immediately if you run out of cards"?
Is drawing a card one of the two actions? Or is it draw a card and take two additional actions? Couldn’t really tell by the way the cards were printed.
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
Hi Rodney, what happens if the defender value is bigger than the attacker value? The defender is won and the attacker take the remaining damaged (defend value - attack value)?
i'm not sure if i been playing it wrong but what happens if the attacker and defense is the same value, does each player do a boost? or nothing happens
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
It is just me, or do the hero choices in the box seem very random. I like the unique deck aspect and you explained it very well, reminds me of villainous. But robinhood vs bigfoot? One is a fairytail and one is a cryptid.
That's intentional and part of the fun. We've also got a Bruce Lee solo pack coming at Gen Con and next year Cobble & Fog (Sherlock Holmes, Invisible Man, Jekyll & Hyde, Dracula) and Buffy. So now you can have Bruce Lee vs. Alice or Buffy vs. the "real" Dracula, or whatever. Hence, "Unmatched".
There are but many of them are out of print or didn't last long. Tom stressed how we need more games like this one in his review and I agree with him. I used to own a ton of Heroscape stuff and people that have that game horde it because its so much fun and yet has been out of print almost a decade. Best advice, if you want more games like this, support this one like I am, buy everything they release for it, and prove we need more haha.
@@Fuzzyfoot88 yeah dude recently rebought some heroscape, i still have star wars epic duels which is the people that made this ,, but yeah i bought the cobboe and fog and brucelee , im gonna order this set and the jurassic park, i really like this im super looking foward to the marvel sets but i havnt heard much word on them
So here's a question for the general public. If you could select two more characters for Unmatched -- One public domain or historical legend, and one licensed -- who would you choose? My pick for a public domain character would probably be Davy Crockett. American tall tales have some great fodder to work with for the game, and Davy Crockett is one of the most recognizable. The licensed pick is a little tougher, as I am a large geek who's into lots of things, but in the end, I'd have to go with RWBY. The characters and fighting styles would be so much fun to try and work into the game. So, I think I'll go with Ruby Rose. She's my favorite character from the show, and trying to work in Crescent Rose's unique style would be so much fun!

Nice looking game! I can see this in my future!
You're catching up on some videos Frank :)
In an attack, if the defender's defense number is higher than the attackers attack number, does the defender do damage to the attacker??
Nope, they just block the incoming damage fully.
@@WatchItPlayed thanks!!
Can you explain one thing for my if you maneuver you have to draw the move or draw again you can't attack even if you get to said players hero
Sorry, I’m not quite sure what you are asking
@@WatchItPlayed so you draw boost move then attack or would boost move count as two actions
@@exarack Boosting does not cost an action. Boosting is part of moving (if you decide to Boost).
@@WatchItPlayed so draw is one action while moving is optional equals one action then you can draw again move again end turn or scheme or attack end turn very new to this game love it alot though I really like Daredevil and Luke Cage
You may still have cards in your hand when your deck runs out. And in the case of Medusa your hero power can do some ping damage too
@@ultrawolf4155 Ahh I see! Thank you so much
Thanks to Alexander for the assist!
Nothing happens, it just ensures the attack is blocked.
@@WatchItPlayed Thank you Rodney, all the best for your channel 👍👍
i'm not sure if i been playing it wrong but what happens if the attacker and defense is the same value, does each player do a boost? or nothing happens

Can you boost a attack card similar to movement?
It's been a little while since I shot this, but if I don't mention that you can boost an attack in the video, then you can't. Have a fun time playing!
@@WatchItPlayed thank you.
Hello, does the special ability cost an action?
I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Do you have a specific example, or perhaps a time stamp to the section of the video you are asking about?
The unique combos of characters is part of the design choice :)
i love your videos
Thanks so much!
I just played the Buffy expansion with my partner. So much fun! Can't wait to play again!
So glad you enjoyed :)
Are there more games like this
There are but many of them are out of print or didn't last long.
@@Fuzzyfoot88 I agree Fuzzy I am buying all expansions Bruce Lee is on game nerdz.com. Also Jurassic Park! Pre order!
There are a lot more of them now!
@@Fuzzyfoot88 yeah dude recently rebought some heroscape, i still have star wars epic duels which is the people that made this ,, but yeah i bought the cobboe and fog and brucelee , im gonna order this set and the jurassic park, i really like this im super looking foward to the marvel sets but i havnt heard much word on them
Rodney making games seems fun and easy and draining my wallet one video at a time hahah.
Hope You're enjoying the games :)
Do u still answer the questions 4 years later
Depends on the question?
Can I attack with 3 of my fighters in same turn?!
Do you mean if you have 3 sidekicks, do they all attack if you play an attack card for them? If that's wat you're asking, yes.
Nice video!
Thank you!
So much better than Star Wars Epic duels. And the art is just amazing
So glad you enjoyed checking it out Muhammad!
@@WatchItPlayed Always a pleasure watching your How To Play videos Rodney!
hahahaha first it was box flipping now I see other motions that might catch on in this video...
Not to knock the game, but this just makes me want to play HeroClix
Not a knock at all - play HeroClix and have fun!
Cool game.
Thanks for checking it out Will!
7:59 nice
discurd dis curd
How hard was it for Rodney not to call him “Sasquatch” instead?
Suppose If in a combat the attacker and defender both have same value then who will win the combat ?

And now we are getting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles :D
Yeah, pretty radical!
Fate the board game
I feel like the card artwork is so dope, but then the board artwork and design is only meh...
Check out what they did with the board in the newest set (Red Riding Hood and Beowulf) - they changed it up.
Thank you for this video!
You're very welcome Paul - thanks for checking it out!
