It's been 10 years since my last cruise so I thoroughly enjoyed sharing this one with you. My husband worked in Times Square many years ago, so of course that had all changed.
Wow, everything looks fabulous and I love the formal evenings.
Your husband is too funny 😁 plus you both look so relaxed and in your element, I think you both suit cruising.
We were on a 12 day cruise on QM2 in November to the West Indies and also have done the round trip crossings. Nothing like it. Glad you enjoyed your voyage.
Hello: Greetings from the USA. I came across your videos last evening watched two of them and really enjoyed them. No prize for guessing what I plan on watching tonight !!! I live 20 mins. away from New York City and travel on the Queen Mary 2 every year and seeing your videos was like " going home " she is a beautiful ship indeed and one of my favorite things to do is have lunch at the Board Walk Café to get away from everything. By the way I lived in the UK for 19 years and going on this ship or Majestic Lady as I like to refer to her as is like being in the UK. I am planning on being on board two times this year being as you enjoyed her so much you should try the Caribbean cruise just fabulous, Have done it a few times and highly recommend it. Hi Rupert, the back of house tour sounds interesting - I worked on board cruise liners for P&O back in the 1980s so a back of house tour would be a real trip down memory lane for me! :)

My husband and I are booked for a week in new York and a returning home on the Queen Mary 2. We love cruising and I’m so excited. I do love a good cheese board too.

Enjoyed your videos on the QM2 Caroline. We boarded the ship in NYC a week after you and took loads of pics, but no video! So it was great to see yours as it brought back such wonderful memories of our time on board this beautiful ship as well as our 4 days in NYC. You were so right about it being “Old fashioned” but in a good way. Such a perfect description. We’ve done 4 cruises now on various ships and have to say that the QM2 was certainly one of the nicest for us. So English in every way and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Am now watching your other various utube videos. Happy 2020 and thanks again.

Wow! So glad we came across this vlog this morning ( U S.) We enjoyed every minute off it.
We sail the QM2 every year for the Independence Day sailing as well as the Caribbean Celebration in Nov./Dec. Not Queens Grill but not steerage, normally a covered/sheltered balcony...lol. Of course missed out on this summer's cruise.
When you mentioned it was 10 days until Christmas when you arrived in Southampton we realized you were embarking in Brooklyn the same day we were disembarking.
Anyway, we are subscribed and enjoy your vlogs with morning coffee.

I’m taking my first ever crossing aboard the Queen Mary 2 next year. One of my biggest dreams is to sit on my private balcony in the evening and having a Titanic movie marathon when we’ll be sailing close to the wreck site.
You have a permanent smile on your face, so relaxed. So true about the lifestyle aboard, a bygone era on land. Service was impeccable and ambiance of another time. Wonderful vlog, felt like I was back on the ship walking with you. Thank you for sharing.

I’ve just booked my first ever cruise. Doing a transatlantic from Southampton to Cape Canaveral on the NCL Escape October the 26th. Am very much looking forward to being at sea for 14 nights. Fabulous review of your crossing on the iconic cruise line that is Cunard. 🚢

Lovely to see Mary. I go on her every year to visit back home (UK) since I moved to the States 15 years ago. Last year we got to visit Iceland and Canada on her also. Wish I knew how to edit videos like you do though. May I ask what camera you use?

Loved this vlog, thank you for sharing it with us. Mum and I went on the QM2 six years ago and loved every second too. I was a dancer on the QE2 for five years in the 80’s and was wondering who the Social Directress was who did the talk? Was it Elaine MacKay or Amanda Reid?

I enjoyed your video so much!You’re absolutely charming, with a husband that is a perfect complement for you. I’ve wanted to take the QM for quite some time but my usual travel companion has terrible seasickness and I’ve yet to get her to agree to it. I might have to do it solo. I hope if I bump into you both aboard ship you’ll agree to having a drink with me. I have only one critique for you, don’t worry too much about how you look on camera because you looked happy and relaxed all along and that’s better than any makeup and lighting there is.

I dress up..Queen Mary is the best ship for dressing up on. Was on her in 2006 westbound. On her again in July to the fjords. Can't wait! As the trip to NYC, you can't enjoy the pool or outdoors properly. Too cold , windy or wavy. So should be able to on this one.

Funny that you don’t want to talk to people at meals (when you seem so outgoing) but we are the same way. I know we’re probably missing out on making some nice friends but I just feel it’s such an effort to keep up a conversation with strangers when you’re eating.
I quite like chatting to people on holiday but only on my own terms, I want to be able to walk away when I've had enough, which isn't really possible mid-meal!
Done this last year thought it was a bit stuffy but had a great experience

Hi Fiona, yes, it was Queens Grill. Such sad news that Cunard have cancelled everything until next year. We are booked on Q Victoria in July so hopefully it'll be back up and running by then. x
Hello Caroline, loved your cruise vlogs :-) ive never considered transatlantic until recently , I was wondering if the fact you flew to NY and cruised back minimised the effects you would get say, doing it the other way ? As they say the jet lag on the way home is bad ? How did you find it cruising home?
Absolutely loved it, I would do it again in a heartbeat. The reason we chose to do it this way was more to have the busy part of the holiday first, and then the relaxing part afterwards. You just have to work with the jet lag, it was pretty good in terms of getting us up super early while we were in NY, so we got lots done early mornings while it was a bit quieter, on the plus side!

I've done the transatlantic crossing several times east and west and never got invited to the captains party. Maybe because I always book a 3rd class cabin. lol
My understanding was that all the passengers are invited, that's certainly the impression we got anyway :)
How is it possible that the weather was warm in the middle of December? Being on deck without jackets?? On the North Atlantic in December.
It really was surprising, I was expecting it to be far colder :)
This looked fab. We are looking for a cruise for the end of 2020. Tell me i get seasick as soon as i step on the water. Any tips ? So far we have only been on short trips. Do you have to do a lot of walking to get from a-b or are there short-cuts. I have Parkinsons.
The amount of walking will vary dependent on the size of ship you choose, maybe look for a smaller one to minimise the amount of walking. I'm lucky that I've never suffered from seasickness, so I can't help you with any tips on that front, I'm afraid. There's various remedies available though - pills, wristbands.
Jazzshampoo the wristbands are really helpful but if you are really bad, you can get an injection from the sick bay, you’ll sleep for ages then wake up feeling terrific.

I'm never a great sleeper anywhere these days, annoyingly, but I didn't sleep terribly on board the ship overall.

I live in southampton, its so easy to get on and off the ship, its about a 15 minute walk from the terminal to my home...
Now that sounds convenient :)

The ship is getting old and boring. Just came back from 16 days Cunard. It degraded a lot. food quality and quantity BAD. especially at the Lido. Super short handed. It is at the Carnival cruise style. No dance host, no queens room Hostess, no professional dancer exhibition, etc. will not recommend for this price ( we are diamond on Cunard, not a newbie)
We love it. But I guess it’s not for everyone.
