In our quest for seeking out a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we made a plan that includes zero waste living, tiny home living and full-time travel. We considered buying an RV, looked at trailers and airstreams but settled on doing a bus conversion for our off the grid, tiny house on wheels. We bought a 1996 MCI 102 D3 coach bus and with the Bus Demolition and Interior Shell complete, now we turn it into our Tiny Home on Wheels!

In its previous life, our MCI bus was used as a school bus, although we don't think we can legitimately call it a skoolie. We are confident that converting our bus into a class a motor home will have challenges, but doing a massive overhaul and remodel on a motorhome / RV remodel didn’t seem to align with the off grid bus life we were aiming for.
In Season 4 we share the interior build as we turn it into our home.

That one thing that really made me happy was the Doctor Who Short haha #whovianforever
Just a word of advise to potential coach converters ,keep in mind that all coaches Prevost or MCI come from the factory with 6” more head room than regular (Greyhound) coaches. So if you are a short person a regular coach would be no problem,if you are TALL then your better off buying a older model motor home that needs to be redone ,it might cost you a little more but it will save you many headaches and TONS of work .
Ans there are lots of “dated” motor homes for sale.🇨🇦😎
It's looking great, keep going, you'll get there.Really enjoying your journey.❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙
Hey Alan thanks for the support. We are so happy to share it
Congratulations & best of luck to you both!
Thank you Lavonne :)
@Profitabletrader_FX congrats ❤️ @Raphy Nancy
Dude this is the women everyone will dream of.. A partner in everthing.. U guys are perfect match... Take care of eachother give her best life..
We're out here stuck with the wrong guy...
@@donnakawana why what happened..
@@siddharthtambe4775 ya Kno some of us women make wrong for them choices. An then spend years trying to change them into the man if their dreams..!! I wanna live on a sailboat,or the whole Schoolie thing looks fab. But my husband yeah.... Let's say if there's an issue I'll be the one fixing it... Yes I can fix engines an I'm never afraid to try.... I'm a perpetual tryer..... Lol!!! ✌🏻💗😊❣️
@@donnakawana u are a strong woman.. U don't give up on repairing stuffs.. But le me tell you.. It's not just women who makes wrong decision.. We men too gets make same mistakes in choosing partner..
And all we do is try to make things work right..
Someone You dnt find in India . 😂😂😂😂
Wooow!!!!woooooow! 🤩😍 👍
You two are so damn goofy..and inspirational, and adorable, and I love yall..and congrats on your marriage
Ahh thank you Nate
Very nice set up. We are looking into a tour bus to convert but can't figure out where to find the insurance for it. Who insures these things?
You have to change the title to a motor home and then call around talk to different insurance companies. It differs depending on where you are.
Is the best
All the best to you. I dont understand why you would pull up a plywood floor just to put plywood down again. lot of work and huge expense.
Because it’s old and there was some rust. This way we could treat the rusted area and put new floors down. You won’t believe the amount of dirt, dust, hair etc we pulled out of there. It’s our home, and worth the expense
Well done look up Bus greasemonkey
I am so proud of you guys!!! I am overwhelmed seeing the progress laid out like this!!
It took making the video to have a little perspective and see we really are making progress, when you are in it everyday you just can’t see it :)

@@Rehabit8 love watching these bus conversions. Y'all should watch leave her wild. She is also doing one.
Despite previously having absolutely no interest in bus conversions, I've been glued to this channel since it started. As someone who also makes UA-cam videos I know the insane amount of time that they take to film and edit. Not only are you building a bus, you are building a legacy of knowledge that future bus builders can use to help them with their own projects. The kind of commitment and willing to share is amazing and I wish you guys all the luck in the world for the next stage of the build. There are thousands of people out there who love what you're doing and really appreciate the time and effort you spend to put these videos together. Please come back and read your supportive comments whenever you're feeling low. During the time of Covid 19, where we're all stuck inside, each video has felt like going on a little adventure with Mela, Don and the cats. I've shared your hopes, successes and (many) failures... you've been my escape for the last 12 months, and I hope you'll soon be able to escape yourself. Sending love xxx
Thank you Reuben. You have no idea how much that means to us. Needed to hear this today🙏
As long as you’re happy with each other then you can conquer everything
LMAO! This was such a great trailer! I laughed, I cried and I jumped for joy all in the span of 8:42 minutes!
Although I do not know English, but I am very pleased to watch your channel, not even knowing what you are talking about 😂
😂😂😂
I love you yall relationship the teamwork is so powerful I bought a 1980 MCI and I'm doing the exact same thing I'm in the demolition phase and boy these buses were built to last definitely not a walk in the park
We feel you Javon! That demo is hard work. Glad you know what it’s like :)
Hello! Nice to meet you. I am a bus camper user living in Korea.. I was impressed with your production process. I want to be your friend. subscribed Thank you for visiting my channel I wish you good luck and good health
We had a mouse on our transit bus die and couldn’t find it anywhere. Somehow the thing had gotten in the box fan and we were blowing dead mouse air all over the place. Stuck for two weeks!!!! Finally found it. We set traps after seeing a mouse run through. We caught 12-15 before we got it under control again. Put up those ultra sonic repellants.
ew gross!! ha ha. Yeah we did start using an ultrasonic repellant. It works pretty well!
When your floor starts having problems popping up it is because it is a floating floor. You NEVER put it down until after the walls are up. Installing anything onto a floating floor ensures the popping.
Only thing I can tell you is when this starts to happen you will want to go around each item mounted to that floor and trace cut everything so it becomes a floating floor again.
EDIT oh yeah, you are doing a GREAT JOB.
Maaan, y'all make such a nice couple. Dude you found yourself a jem. I thought she'd pop the news that she was pregnant, before the end of this video. lol
It's worth it promise. 😆 alot of sort backs and sore fingers, and scratching your head....
You found out why these busses with a diesel motor (over 40 ft long) start at over 400+ thousand, new.
Such beautiful people... damn it. Thanks for sharing guys.
Ви молодці!
Будьте щасливі)
Oh my gosh. Thank you two so much for all your hard work and for putting it all on video so others can learn from it! I actually got emotional watching this one. By the way, you two make a beautiful couple, and you just seem to belong together! ❤
Ah thanks Jo! We feel we belong together 😘
I really understand the feeling of OH MY GOD it way way more work than i thought and my bus was only a 27 footer.some guy came along and offered me 3 times what i had in to it so i sold it and bought a motorhome instead.but i will say i was kind of sad the day it left you kind of get attached to the build. Good luck on your travels
❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
They use the Ole elephant line at work and I tell them why does the first bite have to be 3 inches below the tail 🤣😂
This video really shows the effort, committment, and high level of patience involved in a massive transformation like this. I hope this project turns out to be as good as you dream it to be. It is an amazing achievement already. The end result will hopefully be worth all you both have had to endure, and more importantly, your marriage will be stronger than ever.
Glad you enjoyed it!
heartfel congrats guys on your marriage, having been there twice, and failing twice, i wish you all the best with your future, a family that plays together stay's together.
Been following you guys since almost day 1. Congratulations on coming this far. Job well done!!!!
Remember when you forgot to put the bus in park and it wouldn't start after you came back?? You guys have made it a long way!!
Hahaha yes I will never forget that. You are right, we have come a long way from then :)
y did you not buy a 2020/2021 prevost or just a rv? good for you!
Wow awesome guys looking forward to seeing more and if you need any help just let me know. My buddy did the same thing and he is almost done
I love you guys, may God guide and keep blessing you🙏🏾
What do you do when you're going through hell? Keep going! ♥️
Haha 😂
Buses work GREAT to convert to Motorhomes...Lots of room to innovate install woodstove too..just don't go down the road with woodstove going would CAUSE anxiety to other people thinking Bus on fire..Well DONE
New stoves have pollution catalysts too
I'd love to buy a used PREVOST out NYC MTA Transit Bus and do a conversion like these..
Must be a PREVOST..
There are a lot online, I can help people find them.
Just came across your vlog, AWESOME job‼️PS, whoever backed the bus on to the new pad, killed it👌🏅💪
Thanks Susie! Yeah Don has done a great job driving the bus :)
Funny couples great work though..
Why did you gut the interior so extensively? Especially the floor. What was wrong with it? If you wanted a blank canvas why not just lay plywood over what was there?
Hey Steve, we are really glad we gutted down the rummage metal. After pulling everything up removed a lot of mold, fixed rust spots and of course removed 40 years of dust and dirt! If we were planning on it a weekend RV we would have done exactly as you suggest, laying plywood over the existing floor, but since we will be living in it full time we wanted to know what was in the floors and walls for a healthy living environment
4:49 I understand what you're going through with the kidney stones. It's like getting stabbed in the back 3-4 times a day until they come out. Not fun...
ugh the worst!
I've been watching your build for a while now, but this is my first comment. I'm just so excited you guys are preparing to start putting everything into the bus! It's probably a dream come true for you guys lol Just enjoy your well deserved break first and I'll still be here when you get back (even if I don't comment every episode lol)
Thanks for your first comment Brandy :) so nice to hear from you and can’t wait to share the next steps
@Profitabletrader_FX you're such a nice woman here
If you can you might think about putting a Diesel heater in. It can run off the same fuel tank of the motor they really work great don't use a lot of fuel and it's nice to be toasty and winner. Love what are doing your RV friend😎👍🇺🇲
Guys you are wonderful ! Nice big good ,ambitions to finish that bus.Have the best!
Thanks Geani!
Good on you guy's your doing so well
All the best following you I'll drop in again
Cheers Wattie from down under nz
Welcome aboard!
Guess you found out that reno’s can cost more: in $$$, blood, sweat and tears, mental...pretty much everything...then we imagined. I wouldn’t attempt something like that with my hub. One of us would be dead! Looking forward to seeing the REVEAL!!
Sweet video. You guys have been through a lot! It gets sort of easier from here!!!
Thank you! Oh good, I’ll take “sort of” easier 😉
First time here. I really enjoyed your video.

There is one for sale in CA right now and it's around ten years old, a new one

"How does a mouse eat an elephant". I told myself that a thousand times when I rebuilt my destroyed sailboat to live on.
Man you guys are amazing! I wish I was 20 or 30 years younger so I could tackle something like you guys did. Absolutely wonderful, I’m so jealous. Keep up the great work and by all means enjoy what you’ve accomplished.
congratulations on the video and congratulations on the project I'm from Brazil 🇧🇷usei UA-cam translation
Did you really have to kiss.
Roswell New Mexico built thousands of MCI grayhound busses for many years. I worked in engineering.
Hey Dave that is awesome! Maybe you worked on our bus (1996 102D3)?
@@Rehabit8 good possibility. I left the plant in 2000. Worked at the plant for 20 years. I actually made all the ignition keys for them. A good place for parts is Hausman bus out of Chicago, if their still around.
This is the first time that youtube has suggested this channel to me, I will definitely follow it. I do have a question though. Did you use insulation to prevent the floorboards from being damaged by water?
Welcome! I'm not sure I understand your question but we used plastex on the underneath side of the floor boards in places it is exposed to the underbelly to protect from exposure to water, dirt etc. We used some insulation to help keep our toes warm in winter, and then waterproof vinyl planks on top of the wood flooring. Hope that answers your questions ;)
@@Rehabit8
Yeah. I only saw the time lapse video. I guess I missed that part.
Thanks
Hugh when everything is out lol
Olá 👋👋👋 aqui Brazil 👍🙏❤️🙏

Good job you guys👍
We just got our kitchen n bathroom done on our bus👍 🚌 Ours is a 45 ft VanHool.
Ouhaaaaaa
Bravo pour ce beau projet,
C’est fantastique...
Vite vite la suite

What license do you need to drive it? I am going to buy an old transit bus 19,500 GVWR, to convert it into a RV.
Wonderful couples ❤️❤️
This is my dream. Please God. I need a builder partner.
@Profitabletrader_FX I'm here to look for builder partner @Raphy Nancy
I apologize in advance, without reducing respect to the father and mother, I am from Indonesia, is the price of buses in the USA expensive? I'm a fan of USA buses, sorry I'm just a person who can only imagine one day being able to drive or being able to own one.
So.... Much.... Work...... Wtf.... Greerings from Poland my friends. That is just awesome.....
1:52 OMG! Why are you doing that to the floor! Why??? And then complain about 5 days taking the glue off... XD
Супер Молодцы, удачи Вам
Amazing couple...
what computer programs are you guys using to design how did you "scan" the bus into the computer? thank you for doing all the extra work with youtube to let us watch its. I will be watching all of them. =)
Oa little ity butt mouse shit he just trying find a warm place babby mouse ya be ok on build ok just be strong and have faith ok edward plummer from Gaithersburg Maryland be safe ok
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙏
When you are completely done take a trip to Quartzsite in January for a meetup. I’ll be the first to sign up.
Awesome Steve I was just thinking about meet ups! Hope to see you there
Rehabit8 so your thinking of Quartzsite January 2022?
ahhh man those smiles 😩😩♥
Geees You covered up the access panels. Your gonna have to rip all that nice floor out when you need to change fuel lines, airlines, fuel pump,ETC which need to be maintained often. and I hate that all that work you did to just have to rip up the floors
Great video! I really enjoyed watching it :) Can’t wait to see more renovations and the reveal!!! Happy renovations to you both ♥️
What about safety? It's better to have home then home bus. Suppose one of you become sick then or in any case there are places where it's risky like crime prone places. During night. Sorry but this idea is not good.
Combining 2 fads into 1. Cool. Now to make it a sustainable organic free range pig farm. The trendy trifecta!
I Love This Video !!!.. Im So Excited To See The Next Videos !! Greetings From *Indonesia* 😘🇮🇩
Hi guys wow nice home
You guys are just amazing, how does that quote go, " let your mind go & your body will follow ", thank you for letting us tag along.
And you've barely started the interior 🤦♂️ it say "complete interior"
What this video represents is the dream of a lot of people. I would love to start my conversation. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I never rate 5 stars, but you two deserve them.
