Good advice JMRG! Try this: 10 minutes of kicks then 10 min. of stretching. Then, 10 more min. of kicks then 10 more min. of stretching. Do this back and forth act for an hour or up to 90 minutes. 5 times throughout this routine hit a 1 minute horse stance. This is a winning blend of conditioning that will develop speed, power, and flexibility! Do it at least 4 days a week!
Yes, you have to have muscle and flexibility! Many injuries are due to not having enough useable muscle. Build muscle and stretch! Then, you will have better kicks!
Make sure your knees don’t go past your toes to ensure you aren’t over extending the knees. To check, take a yard stick or broom handle, put against your knees when in position and line up with toes if you are past your toes you can adjust to know how the proper position feels for muscle memory. Hope this helps.
Ok so quick question. In order to be able to kick high like that, do you first need to be able to build muscle in your thigh area? or is it pretty much only good flexibility in order to kick high? Thanks.
Thank you dude i appreciate that alot i just did and I'm already sweating like if walk more than 1 and a half even in a 1 and a half i never been this sweat in a short time in my entire life thank you jake mace
I've been stretching my legs for over a year now but i seem to have hit a wall where it hurts alot to stretch any further passed the point i've gotten to. is this normal and will it pass? thanks.
Hey should i train my front splits to get to my middle split cose it seems quite har for me to get to the mid split even thaugh i push my self so hard or is it my age...
@evucis1996 those kicks are called dynamic leg raises. believe it or not its suppose to help you warm up pretty quick .its for a situation where its impossible to stretch in time. e.g in a street assault, u dont have to stetch, so you do dynamic leg raises and this puts stretching and defense an offensive manuoevure.
This is also good for training to do Hung gar Crane style as well. Thanks! But, I have a lot to work on to do a split. I guess anyone can do it regradless of their body structure?
do you know what happens to a muscle being stretched? Do the muscle fibres etc elongate or is there actual muscle cell division like in bodybuilding that make the muscles longer?

I can do front splits but horizontal splits will tear my tendons. I already have extremely weak knee joints as is so I don't wanna risk tearing my ACL or dislocating my knee.
Almost 40,000 views. Thumbs up for the splits! We just uploaded some new videos on our channel about Ba Gua Sun Moon Forks, Ripped Arm Kung Fu, and Flying Tiger Style! Check it out!
Why i can't do more than about 120 deegres of horizontal split? I started when i was 16 or 17. I almost did front split but did made almost any progress in horizontal split then stopped training. Now is the same. It's like my joints are blocking the motion of my legs and looks like they have to come out of place for me to be able to do horizontal split more than that. Do i need to contunue this for few months everyday? Or do i need to stop?
I'm 18, I really want a Goku body and I really wish I had you to train me each day. Is it really possible for anyone to do this? I loved your video and you're inspiring me! ^_^ namaste!
Of course! Rest is good for the body and mind. But, little olympic hopeful kids in China don't rest. They are beaten into skill, flexibility, and greatness over 8 hours a day!
Nothing!!! Everyone has their good sides and their bad sides. Train double as hard to strengthen your lesser leg and lesser side and you will even them out!
Well you should do it everyday and be careful not to force yourself. I did that before and i increase my flexibility little by little. Even if u can't reach full split at least u can strecth better than when u first start.
Hey all - if i was you i wouldn't do the side splits to front splits Transition just do them separately, i knew some1 who did the transitions alot and they're knee kept popping out of place, so I do them separately. just figure i'd try to help some1 if your knee's are bad or feel like it hurts when you transition.
Really good! But this is a really dangerous training. Before do it this way the person have to be sure that can do it on the floor. Cause if u hurt one muscle overstretching it it can take months to recover it, and in some cases you will be never able to do splits again, so, go easy pple, only try this way when you are on an advanced stage..
Flexibility training was on my mind then I started watching videos on youtube and I ended up paying more attention to how cute the guys are doing exercises than trying it myself. ;P
how do thoes kicks help you warm up?..... if your muscles arent warmed up yet its totally gonna pull your mucles... thats a badd idea! and y didnt u do that on the floor?...
This warm up that you show before you do the splits, puts a lot of pressure in your knees. This can and will result in chondropathy in your knees if done daily and constantly. For those who don't know, chondropathy is a condition in which the cartilage friction between the bones and create incredible pain. This takes at least one full year to heal if treated appropriately. So I wouldn't recommend such warm ups. Sources: My experience. I've been there before.
How to train for the splits summed up:
1. Warm up
2. Do a side split between two benches
yeah what a great tutorial
It really works as a daily routine.
hahaha
"Hire 1989 Jean Claude VD as a stand in body double."

Thanks CzechFitnessGirl! We put some more Split videos up! Hope you get to check them out!
Of course! Glad you are enjoying them!

Cool
Thank you! Now I know what to do on my non-workout days! I'm trying to get into shape for martial arts and this may really help!

Thank you for taking the time to make these videos for us all I appreciate it a lot. Having to learn from books is not enjoyable.
Yes and Yes!
@danceskatemusic those kicks are stretches they are called dynamic stretches but you have to lead into them starting off low an working up higher
Build into this stretch by first being able to split on the floor! Warm up properly as well!
Nice!
Excellent suggestions. I'm looking forward to trying them out.
nice tips. really helpful.
main problem i have is consistency. i always miss days.
Exactly. Hard work!
Ok so quick question. In order to be able to kick high like that, do you first need to be able to build muscle in your thigh area? or is it pretty much only good flexibility in order to kick high? Thanks.
I worked at it when I was a kid. Then lost it. Then and Now Regained It Again!
Thank you dude i appreciate that alot i just did and I'm already sweating like if walk more than 1 and a half even in a 1 and a half i never been this sweat in a short time in my entire life thank you jake mace

hey thanx for the vid, just wanted to know if u were always flexible to do splits, or is it something u trained at?
Yep! :)
thanks you for this video, I will be watching it a lot now that I want to become more flexible. Really appreciate this.
I've been stretching my legs for over a year now but i seem to have hit a wall where it hurts alot to stretch any further passed the point i've gotten to. is this normal and will it pass? thanks.

Fantastic video!
Good luck and success in your split for you both!!! :)
When you say you repeat the set about 10 times do you mean switching from side split to front split or kicks as well?
Thanks Man!
I love doing the SPLITS!
In order to make high kicks, do I need to be able to do splits?

its means like when you do the middle split,n then u switch it to the side split without bringing your body up a bit while changing splits...
Almost 40,000 views. Thumbs up for the splits!

Working on it right now!!! Wow great video buddy
Very cool training!!
Thanks I'll keep you updated!

That really helps!!! Good job dude GOOD JOB!!!! Whatever they say you teach awesome I'm ur man!!!!
Don't you have to rest a day or two for the muscle to grow heal and recover?
is there a way to do this without the benches?
Nice work!
i hope this works..my main objective is to fully split as a play a sport called sepaktakraw..frustrating to cant get a full split..its really painful
Thanks ;)
i can't switch splits while on the splits...how do you do that ?
Hi how many months will it take to do a full split?
i think Sailor is referring to 3:03 when you switch from side split to front split
Now can you teach me to kick like that so I can split? Thanks. I'm 37 and wanna get back into shape
Can you show me? I can't quite picture what you mean! Let's see it!
That's incredible.
at 2:15 nice move! very smooth and cool. love it!
Everyone wants to do the splits!
I'm 18, I really want a Goku body and I really wish I had you to train me each day. Is it really possible for anyone to do this? I loved your video and you're inspiring me! ^_^ namaste!
I got my right split and still working for my left and middle split :-)
My legs always bend when i kick...how can i make them as straight as i can?
I got my right split and still working for left and middle split :-)

thank you for tutorial
i think he means when you swtich from a side split to a front split.
my concern is that my hip turns out. any suggestion? :(
dont push yourself just go at your own pace but try to do it with a little more effort each time
Nothing!!! Everyone has their good sides and their bad sides. Train double as hard to strengthen your lesser leg and lesser side and you will even them out!
this guy is awesome.

The only thing i cant fully do, as shown in the video, is the split. anything else can be learned pretty fast if you have discipline.
Flexibility training was on my mind then I started watching videos on youtube and I ended up paying more attention to how cute the guys are doing exercises than trying it myself. ;P
The things you did at 1:35 are so much harder than they look! I could barely even do one! Ouchhhh >.
Hello?
i tried to do this but i'm afraid to go lower
I suddenly wanted to try to do splits and I found this video and decided not to when I tried to do the bucket thing 😂
my center split is not good a yours, but ill keep practicing... :D
how do thoes kicks help you warm up?..... if your muscles arent warmed up yet its totally gonna pull your mucles... thats a badd idea! and y didnt u do that on the floor?...
All those Shaolin teachers are the same.. It's hard, but I like/need the discipline
