Oh man the memories I have with this game, playing Pokemon Sapphire on my dad's boat during the summer of 2003 as a 7 year old kid. Me and my bro would also play together. Ok now I'm crying. God how I feel old. Its a shame that the ORAS soundtracks weren't as good as the original.
Jaekization wept in silence when he realized that the Abandoned Ship was cut from the remakes. However, it was a bittersweet moment when he realized that it's replacement had the same music.
Route 113 music is my fav c: Route 119 music sounded sooo epic the first time I heard it, and it was raining with thunder. Still epic even now. I almost shat myself when I found out you could dive underwater in these games. Good times, good times...
I also miss contests :,) hopefully they bring them back in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. I actually miss getting pissed off at my game because what I considered a 'Cool' move and what the game mechanics thought were 'Cool' where on two different plains -.-
I cried when listening to this I miss it so much the best memories I ever had were in this game. no game ever will replace my love for the hoenn region. my party in x and y are all from hoenn region and this is the game I first grew up with. I LOVE THE HOENN REGION
My favorite thing about this soundtrack is that you can hear the progression of adventure in the general route themes. (Not route 111 or 113 though, since those songs play only in one area.) Route 101: Idyllic and leisurely, basically your adventure hasn't even started yet. Route 104: A march of your first steps into a bigger world away from home. I like how in the middle of the song where it picks up it kind of sounds sad as if you're already homesick or unsure of the road ahead of you, but near the end it sounds more reassuring as things will turn out fine. (I'd also say that the march kinda puts a notion of caution, like you're taking your first steps into a bigger world, but they're cautious first steps.) Route 110: A faster pace than before thay gives off an adventurous feeling. And that's how I'd describe this song: You're getting used to this "adventuring" stuff, going to new areas and meeting new people, and you can't wait to see what the rest of the world has in store for you! Route 119: What I really like about this is that Route 119 is split into two halves: On the West side it plays the route 110 song, but once you surf to the other side, it plays this song instead. This song makes it feels like new avenues for exploration have opened up, and this already big world has gotten even bigger. (And it's doubly cool because this is the first time you're required to Surf, and now you have the entire Eastern part of Hoenn to explore.) Route 120: I like the opening of this song compared to Route 119's: In 119's there was a small buildup before the song started, kinda like those doors to a brave new world are being opened right as you step through them. Route 120's song just HITS you with it right away. There's a kind of grand feel to this, and to me this is the song that makes you realize both how big and vast the world is, and that this is where the realization hits you, that's you ARE out in the world, exploring it and all of the wonders it has. That you- in a matter of speaking- have made it.
Long time to track down these songs + dad in hospital + 3 hour processing = several day delay to post this. Hope you enjoy this, because it took a lot of work!
Ahhhh i love these games! My first game ever was ruby. It's so crazy that i remember every detail in all of this music after such a long time. I'm now in college studying how to make video games xD
Hoenn probably has my favorite route and town themes, I'm not thaaat into the battle themes though, except for the one that plays for rival fights, that one is awesome
I hope the remake doesn't make the soundtrack as soulless as it was in Black 2 and White 2. Listen to what they did to the Hoenn gym battle theme, and you'll know what I mean. The abundance of brass instruments is what makes Hoenn sound like Hoenn. And it's frickin' awesome because of that.
Junichi Masuda might be one of the few people I could say I'm a fan of Everything single song he made for Pokemon is a goddamn masterpiece and for good reason, he listened to each of them in his daily life apart from his job to make sure they'd be bearable to listen to during many hours of gameplay and recomposed them accordingly. Every. Single. Song.
I'm 27 and I still play Pokemon... I work full time and I'm a supervisor....proofs that Pokemon is for all ages..this generation will forever be the best one ever created!! Pokemon, characters, music, cities... It's perfect.. And I'm still looking forward to buy Pokemon x/y :D....Long live Pokemon!!!!

I totally agree! Ruby and Sapphire are the most nostalgic Pokemon games from my childhood, as I played them when I was around 10ish years old, and I just fell in love with the Hoenn region! Don't get me wrong, I love the other versions too, but I still like the 3rd gen best!

My very first Pokémon game was FR/LG. I also played Blue and Yellow. But Emerald hits me so hard. I played Emerald when I finish FR that time. I was planning to play LG next while playing Emerald. What I missed about Emerald is the Surfing. Thou it was tiring just to fight against all of the trainers in the water, it was fun. I defeated the Elite 4 and after that, I stopped playing it. It was atleast about 2 years ago. I am now playing it again! Currently, I am in the route outside Fiery Path.

That's the Gen IV contests, and while very good, compared to the Gen III contests they had nothing!
