Note for anybody with a G-series BMW: The functions are largely going to be the same, however, some functions may be changed, or moved to other places. Same goes for BimmerCode, there are some modules and lines of code that are different or are stored in different locations. If I can help, I will try, but be cautious coding on the G-series without guidance specifically for the G-series BMWs.
Sorry mate, it’s literally the one feature I’ve never known anyone to actually use, so nobody I know has any experience with it. My suggestion is check the forums on BimmerPost and see if someone there can help with it.
It should tell you the mileage when it popped up, but to my knowledge there’s no way to see the time/date it happened. The majority of permanent errors will give a CEL so you can get an idea of when it triggered by when the CEL triggered.
I own a 6mt so it’s not an option available to me. It should allow you to reset the transmission’s programming in auto/DCT boxes. It’s important when replacing transmission parts to do a reset, but otherwise I would avoid touching it unless you make changes to the transmission. If the transmission works fine, don’t touch the reset as it can do more harm than good.
@@flexnsa of course! Do bare in mind though, the car itself needs to have a readable temperature sensor in the transmission. Any modern BMW will, but some old models may not.
The adapter and app do work on the G-series, yes. As far as the brake service, there should be a brake icon that allows you to do it from what I’ve heard. I don’t own a G-series so I can’t verify it 100%, my F87 has a manual brake so we don’t have the function. But supposedly the function does exist in BimmerLink to release the brakes for the service. Sorry I don’t have much more info than that
Yes. The adapter will work with any BMW with an OBD port(just about every modern car out there uses OBD, so you can use the adapter with other apps for other cars as well, it’s just a bridge between the car and the phone). The app itself should work with no issues, you may just have a few options different from me because it’s a different model.
Unless you do something in BimmerCode you absolutely shouldn’t that could brick your ECU(playing in expert mode when you don’t know what you’re doing in BimmerCode), generally no. Coding isn’t the same as a tune. Changes in that app are all reversible. You’re really just toggling/adjusting settings that already exist in the car. Bimmerlink specifically really just reads sensors and can clear errors. I wouldn’t worry about using either app in the car in terms of warranty issues.
If you clear an error and it returns, or it just doesn’t clear at all, it means it’s an active issue that should be looked into. For me most of my errors were due to a faulty tail light ground cable. Once I had that fixed my errors were permanently gone. Until I did, they kept returning. That code indicates one of your right rear lights has an issue. There SHOULD also be an error on your Idrive. You have to narrow down which light bulb. Activate all the lights until one flags on your Idrive as defective and you’ll have an answer. Taillight, brake, reverse, turn signal, fog light(this one is easy to miss as many don’t realize it exists. it also activates on very hard braking, look up brake force display).
I try to make engine oil level reset, but when I click it, it does not work, can anyone help? I have obd link cx and I have all licenses. what might be wrong?
You mean the engine oil service interval reset? If for whatever reason it’s not working there’s a way you can reset it in the car if you have the service light still on. Hold the mileage reset button until the service comes up, hold it again to confirm reset, and I believe you hold it again to start the reset. It should reset the oil service interval and the Idrive will now read it as the standard 10/12k miles until next service.

Thanks a lot , very helpful review 🤝
Is there a way to see WHEN the permanent error was tripped?
It should tell you the mileage when it popped up, but to my knowledge there’s no way to see the time/date it happened. The majority of permanent errors will give a CEL so you can get an idea of when it triggered by when the CEL triggered.
What about transmisson adaptation? Mine has the option for it. 2015 750li.

Hi does this app provide the transmission temperature? Apologies if I missed that part of the video
Yes it does! It’s one of the sensors I always have active on my dashboard.
@@BertskiZPolski great thank you for the fast response and thank you for the video

Does the adapter u are using works on g21. Do u know? + can bimmerlink put epb in service mode for replacing brake pads

How did you fixed Output SL_2_R defective? is the ony error I have in bimmerlink and I can't find a solution!

@@BertskiZPolski thank you so much
@@musicholic7777 no problem! The same process works for the other resets like brakes, vehicle check, etc.
