Head on collisions tend to be more lethal than other collisions. People don't think about the innocent drivers that are just minding their own business in the oncoming lane. Sharing the road means being conscious of other people. I think the issue is a combination of poor driving and selfish drivers.

I just bought mine! Picking it up soon. It is in fairly good condition except for the side of the drivers seat starting to wear a lot! Does anyone have any idea if there is some sort of fix I can do? I dont mind it too much just worried about it getting worse

Sold my OG LCI a year ago and have regretted it every day. Going to look at a G87 today but 90% sure I will get an F87 M2C. It is indeed special and one of the best cars BMW have ever made.

Agree with you, whenever I see videos of drivers crossing over the double lines during spirited drives on social media, there's always people in comments celebrating the "good" driving they're doing. You could literally seriously injure or kill someone by doing that. It's so reckless and unnecessarily dangerous.

Owner of a 2018 OG M2 (DCT) here. Mine has your basic bolt ons, high flow cat DP, upgraded IC, res delete, and some maintenance mods like the hard aluminum charge pipes. Riding on a set of Ohlins coilovers. I'm running a bootmod3 stage 2 93 octane tune. I dont know what power it's putting down, but it's a good clip faster than the 21 Widebody Scatpack Challenger I owned and runs literally side by side with my friends C7 GranSport Corvette that has long tube headers and the borla attack exhaust system up to around 140mph. I've got torque reduced by 30% in 1st gear and 15% in 2nd gear to assist with traction. At this point, the car has plenty of power for my daily driver. Funny thing is, I've never driven a stock M2...

M240i b58 the OG m2 old N55 the b58 dyno stock figures are around 360 bhp higher then what bmw states, the b58 is faster then n55 even stock the 240i would smoke OG m2 however the m2 comp is a different story, plus manual is absolute garbage in these cars

In 2023 I ordered a Brooklyn Grey M240i xdrive with the M Performance Pack (larger staggered tires, larger front brakes, upgraded cooling) and, at the same time, a Brooklyn Grey M2. They both came into my AD at the same time. I chose the M240ix.

Have on OG too and when it's a rough road surface it's really loud in the cabin. Sixth gear way too short I agree. My commute is 12 mins each way doesn't matter much. But what I think you're getting at or realising is we spend 99+% of the time driving our cars at normal pace and enjoying the interior where you reside is important. I keep telling people/myself I'll keep my OG forever, it's paid off now and I've modded it a lot and still some more to come. It's ane exceptional car and people tend to like it a lot. However now I'm down the rabbit hole and look at the 840i GC or latest seven series for that rolls Royce experience without the price and better reliability than Bentley.

for your next upgrade I suggest you look into a Accord or maybe a Camry

I think it is a bad move to not get your M2 tinted. Just go with a very light tint, like 3M Colorstable 50% or even 75%, does the job while being mostly clear, reduces sun damage so much, keeps the car way cooler, a no brainer IMO.

Sounds like you need a daily driver as well as the M2. M cars always sacrifice daily drivabilty for pure driving experience.

As someone who has driven all of the variants (235, 240, M2, M2C) and has owned two 235i models (both xDrive and RWD), I would have to say that I will continue to pick the 2016 235i AWD over any of the others, including the newer G87 M2. Reliability-wise, the N55 has done me well for both examples that I have owned (RWD sold at 61k, AWD at 67k and climbing), with a full Dinan S3 set-up (everything other than the big turbo) on both cars I thankfully have only needed to replace the plastic chargepipes on the AWD car due to brittleness from heat cycles and age (blew at 64k). In my experience, having tracked the OG M2 and the AWD M235i back to back, the xDrive 235i has proven itself to be a better choice over the OG M2 in nearly every way. Whether it comes down to the acceleration, cornering ability, suspension setup, or overall balance of the car, a tuned M235i can easily beat out the OG M2 by a few seconds on a course. The AWD system allows you to swing the back out more than enough to have fun with it, too, which I find to be a great plus. Another thing I love about the 235i/240i models is how they retain the EDC system which allows for a more comfortable and forgiving drive for your daily commutes, but when you swap driving modes, you immediately get the stiffness that you desire. I have found that the ride quality changed for the better upon swapping out the springs, though. Having tried a few sets, I really like the wheel fitment, feel, and visual aggression provided by the Dinan spring set. They lower the front end by about half an inch while the rear is a full inch lower. Paired with some 19-inch wheels, 12mm front spacers, 15mm rear spacers, and some meaty Michelin's, the chassis is nothing other than a chef's kiss. In my opinion, the OG M2 shouldn't be considered when getting a 2 series, if you're going to get an N55, get the M235i and save the $10k-$20k in doing so. While the N55 cannot keep up with the B58 in terms of high-figure tunability, I do think it holds that sweet spot of 400-440HP and 400+ ft/lb quite well, and its sound is hard to beat when paired with the right exhaust. The early B58 examples, pre-Toyota Supra collaboration, are hit or miss as well. If you are leaning down that route regardless, if possible, buy a later 19-21 LCI M240i example to avoid any of the early iteration issues. An honorable mention goes to the M2C, the S55 really ties the car together in a way that the N55 and B58 will never be able to. The combination of the DCT, S55, and RWD is unmatched. That is a driving experience that will never fail to put a smile on your face. The only downsides that come to mind regarding the M2C are its price tag (which can be seen as a pro or a con when it comes to its depreciation or lack thereof), the exclusion of EDC, which all of the "big brother" M cars have, and the de-tuned state of the S55 from factory. In the end, I love everything about this era of the 2 series, they are extremely great cars with robust capabilities and tend to live long lives when maintained properly. I would recommend one to anyone, with a budget of $20k-$30k, who is searching for a fun, reliable, and safe sports coupe.

N55 M2 isn’t a real M2 . The Comp and CS are the only real M2s.

My dad has an Audi Q7 with basically full equipment - from rear wheel steering through massaging seat to night vision (which is a really cool gimmick btw) and I would never change it for the M2 in my life. The car is so bland to drive. I mean it’s cool for the passengers but as someone driving I’d much rather not fall asleep behind the wheel 😃 My mum has an X4m40i which is somewhere in the middle. It has some luxury features but nowhere as many as the Audi and still it performs quite well. But after some time driving it, I’d still not change. The ZF8 in that car is simply boring, its size was not something I particularly enjoyed either. But I could see having it as my daily if I have to transport kids or more stuff regularly. Honestly, the only thing I could see myself replacing my F87 with is the G81 wagon. It’s cool looking, freaking fast and has all the amenities. But it’s not something I’d do lightly or without any second thoughts. I just don’t see that much value in luxury as I see in enjoying the things I do as of yet (and hopefully never). I’d much rather be involved and enjoy driving than be isolated and not register that I’m driving at all. I can feel isolated enough when I’m in my coffin. 😃

I own a 21 M240ix and just bought a 24 RS3, and comfort mode with ultra low profile tires, and it rides like a caddy ! M240i adaptive is not to great honestly in comparison to Audi 's much more sophisticated set up!!

You might’ve mentioned it but I didn’t hear; what’s the mileage on your M2? And any major issues / maintenance? I have a 2015 M235i at 61k miles, it needs quite a bit, Oil Filter Housing, Drive Belt, pulley and tensioner, valve cover gasket, water pump & thermostat ( preventative ) any my a/c hasn’t been blowing cold for the last couple months… 😅

You can put the car in MDM or Traction mode if you press the TC button once, and it will fully open the exhaust valves instead of just 50% open like in the sport and sport+ modes. I think in the video you were using sport+?

It's weird my 2016 has been having odd times when such a noise comes from the rear suspension. Thing is I have aftermarket coilovers so don't know if that's just coincidence or what could be going on. Love the car otherwise it is aging so we'll compared to modern cars that look shite. Looking to get a pure500 shoved in this summer!
