    How to remove the wheel off your dyna & sportster, or really almost any motorcycle. Important info if you need to get tires put on, or replace your wheel bearings, or do any other service to your bike that requires front wheel removal. Remember to torque everything to spec, and use thread locker as required.

    I do in person classes at Skidmark Garage in Cleveland Ohio. You can take classes in 101 Motorcycle maintenance, carburetors, motorcycle electrical systems, suspension repair, basics of Mig welding, and specialty tools. In addition, I have an engine building class that S&S Cycle sponsors. They support the grassroots crowd, by sending me two warranty return engines, that people can disassemble, and reassemble, to help them build confidence before tearing into their own engine.

    Great video, first time taking off the wheels so I ran through a lot of videos and pdf versions of owners manual. I’m glad you posted the torque specs for the caliper bolts too. Anyway, great stuff, thanks again.

    Great video I do have a question though what is the torque specs for the axle nut in the torque specs for the caliper bolts?

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks. On the 05 it is 50-54 foot pounds for the front axle nut. For the caliper bolts 28-38 foot pounds. But in the caliper bolts I take a black marker and put a little dot at 12 o'clock on the bolt after I torque them. This way if they are backing out, I will be able to see it when I do a walk around of the bike.

    Great vid...helped a lot...question - what brand of tire is that?

    • @KnobleMoto

      That was either a Dunlop Q4 or Bridgestone Battle-ax.

    What about the groove marks on the spacers. For what I know it has to be considered if they should go facing to the wheel or facing out of the wheel

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  3 роки тому +1

      I do not recall seeing any special groove marks. I looked up mages of new spacers, and i do not see anything there either. However next time I put a tire on, I will check it out.

      I have been told the grooves or lines go to the outside.

    Hi Steve, I have a Brembo calliper for my single disc set up. It doesn’t work with the lattice wheel, could you let me know what the rotor clearance is on your Dyna from the inside to the cast spokes?

      Sorry. I don’t own that bike anymore.

    First time Harley owner and I just noticed the hole on the axel. Does that serve any purpose other than making extraction easier? Kinda freaked me out as I noticed it at a stop about 20 miles from home and was worried something fell out. Now I see it's fine but can't find any explanation for what that hole is for.

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  Рік тому +1

      Extraction, and you can put a large dowel through it if you had to hold it in place to get the axle nut free. The pinch bolt SHOULD hold the axle, but not guaranteed.

    Do you know what size sockets you need for front wheel?

      3/8 Allen and a 3/4 or 7/8 wrench for the nut.

    Is that a 2000+ mag wheel on a 99 fxdx front end?

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  Рік тому

      Sorta. It is that mag. This is on an 05 FXD, and I bought a lower slider for an FXDX. I swapped out the internals and bolted a new rotor to the wheel.

      @@KnobleMoto ok nice i appreciate that. I have an 01 superglide. Bought a 99fxdx front end. I know i have to get caliper adapters and run 11.5 rotors but im wondering if a dual disc 2000 mag wheel will bolt up to a 99 front end spacing it out and what not

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  Рік тому

      @@jcroce2926 your welcome. I would compare wheel bearing part numbers. If they are the same, the axle size is the same and the install should be easy.

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  11 місяців тому

      No need for thread locker. Just torque to spec. Thread locker builds up inside the threads, and then you have to clean it out next time.
