I’m still slipping with new equipment
It’s probably your throw out adjustment inside the clutch.
But please what you really recommend
I have switch to Amsoil recently. They have the “three hole oil change kit”. The prices are pretty reasonable and you know you are getting the right oil for each hole. Clovis is my go to for ordering. clovislubricants.shopamsoil.com/
@ I just changed oil on my bike today thanks for de videos next time I will switch to Amsoil
@@Maycol-t9e awesome.
Im using mobil one v-twin 20w50 in all 3 holles some people use this method for the transmission
Hey is it bad if it’s vibrating and getting a bit warm
Basically yes. They are designed to handle a small amount of vibration because they are on motorcycles, but vibration could shorten the life of a battery. Heat is also never good for a battery.
How many bottle of transmission oil takes on lowrider st
1 quart.
@@KnobleMoto thanks. For the videos and your help HD charge 550 bucks to change the oil
@ you’re welcome. This is totally maintenance that you can do yourself.
Sir how to calculate for hole size for the bolt?
For course threads the general rule is the tap drill should be 75-80% of the thread diameter. Or, on tap drill charts they will hopefully list it.
I personally remove the primary cover before draining it. These Torx screws must be T25 on the 117 cid, but ALL the 107's and 114's take T27. A T25 will strip these soft Torx's quick fast in a hurry. Then you're screwed. Take the cover off before you drain is my advice.
That’s Solid advice.
No judgement or maybe a little!
Lolwtf
👍😎😂
Valuable for me to see that removing the pump assembly will be a challenge
It’s not too bad. I believe in you.
good video even though I cringed when that wrench was bouncing off the oil tank. But hey, it seems she doesn't really take care of that once beautiful bike.
That’s nothing compared to the stone chips and dead bugs all over the front end from riding it.
I Tried this, broke my bike
How so?
if di-electric grease is non conductive how does electricity get through to your spark plugs ??
The electricity will still transfer through a metal to metal contact. If you use general grease, the grease itself will conduct the electricity, and generally in the wrong direction.
😎👍😎
😎😎😎😎
I’d subscribe but I’m already subscribed!
And it was the best subscribing! 😂❤️. (Thank you)
When I was a kid, our next door neighbor rode a '71 BSA 650 Lightning and his brother rode a 441 Victor such as yours. My Dad brought home a new '71 candy garnet brown Honda 750 4 . The guy down the street had a '69 BSA 750 Rocket 3 and a Rickman Metisse with 650 Bonneville 8 valve head. Lots of cool bikes on our street.
Those ARE some cool bikes. Rare too.
Looks as if this will be an exciting series- can hardly wait
Thanks. I am excited to start on it.
That was short - nice sleeves though !
😂😂😂. Thank you.
Great detailed video friend , thanks!!
You’re welcome.
And thank you.
So if I put 3 quarts I should be fine, I know people say no more then 2 1/2
3 is fine, and better. I always shoot for the high end of the “full” mark.
Good stuff like the vids learn alot
You're welcome, thanks for watching.
Something I have to do. So cold in Idaho, can't get my 117 warm enough to burn off moisture build up in dipstick tube. Had a '17 DR 650 that wouldn't warm up enough and the oil looked really moisture laden. This was after riding it 40 miles. So, I'll wait till it warms up a bit. By the way, do you recommend a crankcase vent set up of some kind on the M8? And, what do you think of this engine overall? I have a '79 Shovelhead Superglide which needs constant attention. I do like the 117 very much and still gets 49mpg two up.
I have had zero problems with the stock case vent system. That’s even with spending notable periods of time at high rpm’s. I’m suspicious that some people’s problems may be related to aftermarket air intakes that are not allowing the case breather to work properly.
Can we use Motul 75W90 in 1200 Harley Davidson
Yes you can.
7u
Mines were nabbed by whoever owned the bike before me 😤😢
😂😂. They are a rare find anymore.
Thank you so much...greetings from Dubai
You’re welcome and greetings from Cleveland Ohio!
Harley can’t even design a brake light switch arrangement that doesn’t fail??? Way funny. Had tons of Japanese bikes never ever had a brake light switching issue. Design 101.
It's the same design as on many of the metric motorcycles, which also fail with age and use. The switches are probably made by the same people. Did you just come here to try and bad mouth a brand that you don't like?
It’s not the switch itself. It’s the arrangement and zero tolerance for slop. Had 15 metric bikes throughout my life (some old). NEVER one failure. Just wanted to ride today and couldn’t. It’s a safety issue. I could easily design it to last the life of the bike with exception of actual switch failure. No excuse for poor design.
@@KnobleMotoIt’s not the switch that fails it’s the arrangement. Had so many jpn bikes some old that never failed. Missed a great ride day due to this silly bad design. Regardless all the UA-cams are temporary fixes and will happen again. I easily came up with a permanent fix that will never fail.
hi, ok, I asked you because I'm doing checks on the stator and regulator because the battery discharges during a night of inactivity, the next day I find it discharged, but it's new
If the battery is going dead that fast, something is drawing it down electrically, or you have a bad battery.
good morning I would like to ask you having to measure the stator the measurement should be around 38/52 volts at 2000 rpm, since the regulator is disconnected do the bulbs not burn out? I'm afraid to try, what do you think?
Is the regulator/rectifier isn’t hooked up, the stator will basically do nothing. Once it’s hooked up, it will rectify the ac voltage to DC and regulate the voltage down to 12-14.6 volts dc.
Thank you for the simple info!!
You’re welcome.
Cheers mate great video done mine yesterday manual said 28 Oz I put a quart in
Solid plan. There is generally a few ounces still in the case, so nothing to worry about.
Japanese industrial standard :)
Replace it will an Allen :)
Excellent video my friend, could you tell me what gauge of wire the stator has? I want to repair only part of the coil
I have no idea.
Late to the party but looking to do this. Am i correct stock height is 11.5" so you put 12"?
On the Iron, stock is 11”, and I put 11.5” on. 12s will work if the taller seat height isn’t a problem.
Loved your video bro . Much appreciated and helped me from start to finish on replacing my stator as well as primary maintenance!
You’re welcome. I am glad it helped.
Great video
Thank you.
Im about to do an pil change and spark plug change on mine pretty soon. Thank for all the great tips and info!
You’re welcome
The video being flipped is a mind challenge 😂
😂😂😂. It was early in the video editing learning curve.
@ hey man, regardless I watched the whole thing and it was very informative l, I feel confident I can install the 95” big bore I just bought for my 03 low rider
@ I’m glad to hear it. Just take your time and label everything.
Do you mix mobil 1 & valvoline?
It was just a few ounces. 🤷♂️
Do you use K&N 174B Oil Filter? 🙏🏻
K&N 170b
@KnobleMoto Thank you for sharing such valuable knowledge and experience, greetings from Indonesia ❤️🇮🇩
@ you’re welcome. Greeting from Cleveland Ohio, USA.
Hi there Steve! Great video. Preferred Customer price for the 20w50 is $12.29. Wow what a bargain !
Thanks! That’s a great price!!!
Good morning Mr. Knoble. Happy new year and may you and your family be healthy. Always enjoy your humor and expertise.
Thank you & Happy New Year to you too
Thank you so much for this. I got a 2014 FXDF Fat Bob I will be changing Motor Mounts on.
You’re welcome. I’m glad it helped.
@@KnobleMoto Took me about 4 hours, but I was doing this on the ground using my motorcycle jack and a car jack. I did the rear one first, and I managed to get both installed own Saturday, and went on a 218 mile ride Sunday. I think my head may be playing with me, but the bike felt tighter. The old mounts: rear "looked" ok but I could see the cracks in the rubber, like age... front was cracked and torn rubber. 1000% chance the mounts were original. Again, thanks for preventing me from removing a bunch of parts or give up altogether.
@ you’re welcome. It probably was more nimble. The swingarm is attached to the transmission, which is held in place by the rubber mounts. So if the mounts are flexing, it will affect the bikes handling.
&*it
This is best how not to video on UA-cam.
👍👍👍👍. That was pretty much the point. Thank you for getting it.
@@KnobleMoto Point well taken.
Nice video.
Thanks
How do you get the wire through??
I tied a single wire to the old one before I pulled it out. If you already pulled the old one out, try sticking a zip tie through there to use as a pull wire.
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation of how to assemble the pump actuator arm and lever. I've been banging my head trying to get this together. S@S was worthless in giving me instructions and or demo. This video saved my project 91 Harley Fatboy.
You’re welcome. I am glad to hear that it helped.
Hi, i currently have night dragons on m8 softail slim. Im thinking of trying shinko 777 white walls. I ride in rain and cold weather a lot, do you think shinko offer similar performance as night dragons or better? Thanks
The Shinkos seem to be a wee bit better in the rain vs the Night Dragons. Then seem to be having the same mileage range. I would go with the Shinko.
@KnobleMoto Thanks for your reply. I'm thinking of shinkos .. but when I went to tyre shop, the guy said they aren't that great and suggested Avon cobra chromes. Avon's are great tyres, I have them on my Sportster. But if shinkos are similar in wet grip as night dragons I will go with shinkos white walls.
