I met Mr. Korda a few years ago. He is a very nice man. He was astonished when I told him that I had the special leather-bound copy of "My Way of Life" that he gave to Joan as a Christmas gift in December 1971. It still has the note he wrote to her (paperclipped by Joan to the first page) within it.
I believe she describes her closet in her audiobook. Certainly the practice of color matching her shoes to outfits and carefully laundering and storing in plastic garment bags. It’s been so long since I listened to it I’d have to check. It may have been her closet she had with Al Steele either way it’s corroborated. 😝
After her death they had an estate sale in her apartment… then in the 1990s Cathy, her daughter, sold more pieces of Joan’s. I would say most, if survive, are in private collections
Unfortunately, not many of Joan's clothes have survived. When she died, there was an auction, which auctioned only a handful of her best gowns and clothing outfits (in addition to over 200 pairs of her shoes and matching handbags). Then, in 1993, a few more of Joan's outfits were auctioned by Cathy LaLonde. Because the bulk of Joan's outfits were never auctioned, I venture to say they were donated to charity shortly before Joan's death, and largely afterward. I was fortunately enough to obtain a few of Joan's gowns that Cathy auctioned in 1993. In the 25 years I have been researching Joan, there have been shoes, handbags and jewelry pieces auctioned, and even some of her screen-worn wardrobe, but Joan's personal clothing pieces seem to the most rare items because only around a dozen of her gowns were ever auctioned. Be warned there are many FAKE Joan Crawford clothing items listed on eBay.

I wonder what happened to the clothes?
