This is 1979 to a tee. Say what you want about ol' Cliff but this is without doubt his best tune and deservedly went to No1 in the UK charts. And it reinforces my view as to why 1979 is one of the greatest years for music......ever.

It recently came to my attention that Cliff Richard and John Lennon were the same age. I can't help but compare the two of them at this age - 39 in 1979 and 40 in 1980. Poor Lennon looked 60 and Cliff looks young and happy. This may be the perfect little pop song. I love it.

That bass line just flows so well. Minimal lead guitar allows the whole piece to accentuate the vocals and keyboards. It surely is a great pop song. Respect Sir Cliff.

I gotta say I’m a cliff richard fan.His late 70’sand early 80’s material is pure gold.It’s shameful how he’s been treated.The vultures love to pick a carcass in this country.I’m no fan of the mans ideology but his music deserves credit.He’s always been positive and I’ve net heard a bad thing come from his mouth.I guess people in this country don’t believe in good people anymore.

1979, I was 18 married a new mom when this song was released. didn't pay it any attention then 1980 newly divorced single mom, when I heard it again been rocking with it ever since.

It's a pity that Sir Cliff never really cracked America (though his label EMI didn't help) - but it's worth noting that he became the first artist to register Billboard Top 40 hits in 4 decades (50s, 60s, 70s & 80s). In time, I hope he will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

Great song, from one of music’s most underrated stars. The quality of his recordings & always having the “right song for the moment” makes him & this song truly memorable. A well written & produced piece, that I think, became his biggest selling song of all time.
Long may he reign supreme. His songs are much maligned and denigrated by by so called " DJs " but appreciated and loved by so many fans of all ages. He's a fantastic performer, and an all time great.
