    Thanks for your effort & video!!! On linking Echo show 5 with the cameras, I got a repeated message which stated (Every time I tried) that linking could not be done then... 30 minutes later, I asked Alexa to show me "CAM 1" and by golly, she did. It all worked without any acknowledgment. Somewhat frustrating with all the nitty picky password and sign on stuff (For Blink & Alexa), but I got past it thanks to UA-cam!! Your comment about the garage door being closed is well taken. In the 1980s, I somehow left the overhead open on a 0 F day and was gone for 12 hours. Good thing the house door was locked--but nothing was disturbed. Could have been ugly on many counts, even with a possible burst pipe, nope.

      These cameras will work from 113'F to -4'F, and knowing the weather up north here you will probably be below that temperature at some point in the winters. Just wanted to make sure you would be aware of this and not caught of guard if the cameras go down.

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  2 роки тому +1

      Yes the cameras have a speaker and microphone so you can talk with someone through the app or Alexa device. As for someone taking the cameras, mine are high enough they would need a ladder to get to them. If they did take them they would be on camera as the footage is stored through the module that is inside either on a usb or through the subscription.

    How far away can you have for your cameras to be able to pickup the signal? Will it work if you have it inside the car (without mounting it on a wall)? You mentioned cloud subscription, how much is it per month? can I use Google Drive or OneDrive?

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Bill, for the distance it really depends on your wifi strength. I put mine all around the home and need to invest in a wifi booster to be able to get all to connect. I also have one mobile one that I use when we go out of town inside unmounted and it works great. As long as your car isn't too far away from the home it will work. There are a couple options for the cloud plan so I'll leave the link below and add it to the video description. I don't think it will work with google drive or one drive, but you can just add a usb card to the unit and store the videos there.

    Hi,
    Can you set the screen to just show the camera 24/7 like a cctv system. I want to use it to see who is knocking at my and don’t want to have to ask Alexa every time. Thank you!

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  3 роки тому

      I asked Alexa to show the camera and it stayed on the live view for awhile before I turned it off, but the issue is if you use it continuously the batteries won't last very long. For the use that you are looking for I would recommend a hardwired system.

      Sorry for the misunderstanding. You can set this by setting up a routine in the Alexa app under smart home. There are a few bugs with this and I have heard it can decrease your battery life, but I’ll try and make a video on how to do this and an update on the effect on the battery life. I’ll be sure to give you a shout out on the video for giving us the idea for the video.

      The echo is not needed for the blink cameras. You can simply use your blink app that you install on your smart phone to monitor the activity. The echo show is just an secondary device that can be used to access the cameras but the app is the control for the system.

    I have two Blink Cameras the Cameras work pretty good. The problem I have with them is the BS you have to comply with to creat and use the account. My biggest problem is I have to link it to only one phone number. In my case I want to be able to monitor my hangar where my airplane is located. And my sail boat. If I am flying and my wife wants to look at either the hangar or the boat and she has lost connectivity with with the app for some reason. She has to request a code to reconnect with the blink system. The code is sent to only me! If I am flying I do not get the code at Flight level 410, yes 41000. Feet. The code times out. It is a stupid system. More than one person should be able get the connect code.🤣🛫
