We'll complete a full setup of the Amazon Echo Show 8 2nd Generation, then we'll show you the Echo Show 8's biggest and best features setup and working. We'll be walking through the Echo Show 8 music feature, video playing features, including playing UA-cam on the Echo Show 8. Also, we'll walk you through communicating with friends and family through Amazon Alexa video calling on the Echo Show series of products.
With it's updated camera, you'll be able to make the most of the #EchoShow8 and its video group call feature. Plus, the New Echo Show 8 can play your music without pressing a button including on groups of echo speakers. You can access your audio books and podcasts, and even have it read your eBooks out loud to you. You can watch movies, tv, and UA-cam or browse the internet on the Echo Show 8's built in Silk Browser.
You can sync your calendar and email to have your important events available at a glance and with notes you can have Alexa quickly jot down important thoughts. Thank you for helpful video. I just setup but when I swipe left the 6 tab options Communicate, Smart Home, Music, Video, Routines, Alarms are not there like in the video. How can I find these tabs? Thank you

There's not really a good "full screen clock", but there are lots of options for colors for the screen
Helpful video. We would be purchasing this for a senior who has a basic cell phone, not a smartphone. Much of the set up in this video was done on a phone in the app. While we would do the initial set up, can she make notes, adjust settings, etc. on the Show device?
Yes! most of what you need to be done can done physically on the Echo Show itself. The need for an app is much less than most other smart speakers. This is the best one for this situation actually.
There's also a web based app at alexa.amazon.com that could be used by either you or them.
The smartphone is still helpful for some things, but do the setup and send it on down with the wifi credentials for them already in. It should plug in and start working.

Okay, we have the Echo Show 8 and are trying to set it up. Have 2 contacts in a group. When calling the group alexa says Contact not Available. This is the only thing we got this for. Is there any way to make group video calls work? Thanks.
This is soooooo frustrating. It doesn't continue after the IMPORTANT ALEXA INFORMATION. I'm stuck and really frustrated

My echo show 8, 1st generation has stopped playing screen savers. I’ve reset it quite a few times and it plays them for a short time, and then goes back to the blue screen. Can you give advice on how to fix this please?

How did you get your Home Screen to have pictures? My screen just goes black even after I’ve gone into the clock & photo display and chose the nature setting… and after it goes to sleep still not picture just the time and black screen. Is there a way to add wallpapers? Please help I’m so lost 😬 not tech savvy and received this as a gift
Make sure you hit save after you choose wallpaper. If it didn't work unplug & plug. After the last update my echo show 5 is giving me this black screen and randomly lagging. Also be sure your wifi is close enough to the device and stable otherwise it will make all kind of problems.
Night mode will make it go black as well or dark.
Is there a feature in the menu to say whay version of the echo show 8, I'm looking biy a 2nd hand 1 and the person can't tell me it's the 1st or 2nd gen, is there a way to see this in yhe settings like a about.
Look for a big rectangle camera hole. The 1st gen has a circular one.

My Alexa just shows a black screen when playing Amazon Music. On randoms songs it will display the song and lyrics and options for me to skip/forward. Any ideas on how that can be fix?
Seems like maybe your wifi isn't hanging on too well. I'd look at how your wifi is performing and I think everything else will fix.
Start by taking a bunch of things off the wifi and see how things improve

I have a question.
Just having purchased an Echo show 8 2nd Generation I was trying to set up the camera to view remotely from my cellphone Alexa app.
I believe a did all the correct things on the show itself.
Using my cellphone alexa app, I am able to access the camera while on my wifi home network.
However I cannot access the camera while outside my home wifi network which in my opinion eliminates the show 8 as what has been preferred to as a home monitor.
Wondering if router ports need to be opened for true remote camera access is possible.

Do you have to download the app in order to add the contacts to do the drop in video calls? And if you have to do it through the app, will the contacts stay there if you delete the app from your phone, because I’m going to have somebody else in another country do this for my mother
You can add contacts on device, but the app is easier. Sync contacts from your phone is best.
And they stay on after input
@@TechYourLife1 I tried logging in to the app with my mother’s email and added my echo’s email and when I tried to do a Drop in, my screen says “No devices to drop in on”
My friend said he set up everything on his end. It will be a few hours until he gets back to trouble shoot.

My Echo Show no longer responds verbally, but shows responses silently on the screen to questions. It also no longer responds "okay." The volume is up and music plays on it. The sleep mode is off and so is the brief mode. It started doing this periodically and now it is constant. I have searched the net and found no one addressing this. HELP!
I think maybe if you just give it a full reset, things will get better. You could chat with Amazon's support team though

Mine gets stuck on agreement screen from which I can not move forward. "Continue" field is low lighted and the X takes me out. I see no other options on the screen. This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen...
My daughter just got me a show although ive got an echo dot which does everything i need. I just cant see why Id use a screen stuck in my kitchen when i can walk around using my phone or ipad. I upset my daughter but its useless and Sorry i just dont get it!

You can only pick different clocks and home page faces in the settings on the device. Whatever they have there are your choices

Look for the gear icon in the top right portion of your screen. Click on that and go to playback settings, you can slow it down.
What is the "Miss A app?"
Alexa, sorry. Usually try and get that on screen in every video. It's so I don't say Alexa.
why would browser settings be found under Temperature??? this device makes zero sense to me lol
The menu options keep changing too. I used to have a “Discovery” button in menu last night, but as of today it is gone.

That'll be related to your Amazon account settings. You could turn that off if you don't want the extra authentication during setup of these
