The whole Pistons game in that era was ahead of it's time. They pass a lot and shoot (mid-range & 3s) a lot. They lay the foundation where 2000s Suns and 2014s Warriors can run.
Rasheed Wallace was a combination of Rodman and Lambeer, Ben Wallace was a combination of Mahorn and Lambeer, Billups and Rip were like Thomas and Dumars both undersized shooters who could drive and defend and then you had Tayshawn Prince who was as versatile and lethal as Dantley or Aguire.
@@fighterck6241 Tayshaun was never as offensively gifted as either one of them, but then again, he really didn’t need to be, and whatever he lacked on the offensive end he more than made up for on defense
As a Pistons fan I was born in ‘03 so wasn’t alive for the Bad Boys and man I wish I was and was 1 in ‘04 when we won hopefully things change for the better soon
This is the team which make me fall in love with Basketball. Tough and always play with heart. The players sacrificed their individual glory to play team game.
Great video. The players from that team, Thomas aside, have became somewhat forgotten and underrated imo. People just remember those guys as physical players, when they all could play too
As a kid growing up in Michigan, this will always be my Detroit Pistons. Also Laimbeer might have been my favorite player. Fun bonus fact: As a kid, I owned a copy of Bill Laimbeer’s Combat Basketball. Not a great game, but I do miss that era of just over the top sports games at times.
Please cover more basketball content. Maybe some strategic videos on the development of the triangle offence and/or pick and roll? Or take a look at more dynastic eras of NBA teams?
Everyone knows that the Pistons should've won 3 in a row. I'm also sick of hearing about how the Pistons didn't shake Jordan's hand. Screw Jordan and shaking his damn hand! Unless you bring up Bird not shaking Isiah's hand, do not bring THAT up.
Jordan called the Pistons “undeserving champions” and said that they were bad for basketball before Game 4 started. They were justified in walking off the court.
One of my fav all time teams. Isiah in particular is underrated. I was (just) on the Canadian side of their fan base and now cheer for the Raptors, but what a team this was!
Well done with the video. My opinion is a bit biased as I grew up in a suburb of Detroit during that time (and this team was and still is so loved by Detroit fans) but this team does not get nearly the credit it deserves. They took out three(or four) of the greatest players in history in Jordan, Bird, Magic and Kareem en route to their titles. The Bad Boys were the epitome of the word team.
Great video…. I finally understood a different point of view of why Isiah walked out. It was basically boycotting the Jordan rules which denied the Pistons playing Jordan a proven formula for slowing him down. I personally don’t agree with poor sportsmanship but to each his own I can now see the frustration of the pistons who crafted their playing style as gritty blue collar get to work types not allowed to play their style.
Until now, had no idea Daly was the head coach of the '92 Olympic Dream Team. Ouch. I think if I were Thomas, my biggest grudge would be against my coach, not MJ.
the coach has one job that day, to build the dream team, as that was the first time the NBA players are allowed to play in the Olympics for the USA, and it wouldn't be a dream team if they didn't put the greatest players in the franchise history.
There is video of Zeek saying "good game" to Jordan before the walk off. Seems like an important detail to miss. The Celtics and other teams had done it before. Pistons were just the last team to do it, since Coca-Cola-Disney-Nike-Jordan took over the league. Kind regards for the video, tho!
Would be great to add the legacy this team bring for 2004 championship team. Had the same grit and status as the (arguably) less favorite compared to other contenders
Detroit (without the 4th quarter) melt down or rather mistakes, bad calls from Ref’s, phantom call, to fast and eager to throw the ball in only to get it stolen, Detroit SHOULD have won 4 championships in a roll. Oh, how great would that have been ???
This bunch of Detroit Pistons bought into the program Chuck Daily brought to the team. They exploited the then current rules, only losing their competitive advantage when the NBA simultaneously changed a hard foul into a two point and possession penalty and took a blind eye to players that traveled when driving to the basket. Those two changes and age related injuries to Thomas and Lambier took the Piston away from being in the top tier of NBA teams.
I mean, a fully healthy Pistons team took a 3-2 lead over the fully healthy Lakers, and with Isiah on a sprained ankle, they lost Games 6 and 7 by 1 and 3 points. Sure, having their best player and one of the top 5 PGs of all time fully healthy may not GUARANTEE a different outcome, but it sounds almost more controversial to suggest that it wouldn't.
no disrespect to the 80's pistons in 88 they would've lost 4-1 to the lakers had the elite years not FINALLY ended for legend kareem abdul-jabbar the passing from legend magic johnson didn't equal the scoring from kareem abdul-jabbar so the 80 82 and 87 finals mvp should've been kareem abdul-jabbar
i dont like bad boys they fight with everyvone but they beat bird celtics jordan bulls magic lakers they were good team but laimbeer was bad he play dirty
hey love that you expanded to basketball. Always watched your football content and was thinking it'd be great if you covered basketball to!
Tifo did basketball years ago but now they're doing it again with the athletic
My sentiments exactly
crazy how ahead of his time Laimbeer was, a C shooting 3's
The whole Pistons game in that era was ahead of it's time. They pass a lot and shoot (mid-range & 3s) a lot. They lay the foundation where 2000s Suns and 2014s Warriors can run.
Detroit never lost that DNA. They won the title again with a 3 point shooting big man (Rasheed) and a dominant rebounding defender (Big Ben)
Good eye

Also the league's best backcourt duo and a lockdown defender a the 3.
Ben Wallace is the ultimate bad boy piston
One of the most overlooked teams in NBA for sure.
I’ve waited so long for the return of tifo basketball and you have not disappointed
As a Pistons fan I was born in ‘03 so wasn’t alive for the Bad Boys and man I wish I was and was 1 in ‘04 when we won hopefully things change for the better soon
Luckily we have Cade now.
Cade plus hopefully Ivey in a week, things look good
@@ktaleb45 I honestly don’t know who to draft
@@jackm0429 gotta hope the kings pull a kings lol
Based on our last couple drafts it won't be more than a couple years before we are very competitive again

Day 2: Make a video about the differences between NBA & European basketball please
We need more Tifo Basketball content
This was amazingly written. Keep up the great work!
Tifo on basketball?? A Dream come true
Tifo doing basketball is the crossover (ha!) i never knew i needed ❤️
I was soooo excited when I saw there was a Tifo Basketball channel. I love the football content!
Oh wow I just found this channel and I'm so glad! I love Tifo football and I love basketball so I'm sure I'll love this channel too!
This was awesome! Would welcome more
Cant wait for Tifo Hockey!
Basketball from Tifo?! I like it

Detroit vs everybody, always.
they were the most underrated era
good vid just wish you'd touched on the portland series
Love that you guys are doing these.
One of my fav all time teams. Isiah in particular is underrated. I was (just) on the Canadian side of their fan base and now cheer for the Raptors, but what a team this was!
Isaiah Thomas perpetually underrated
Please make more videos like this
Well done with the video.

I can still hear the announcer at The Palace belt out “Joe Duuuumars.” Still my Pistons for sure.
That Pistons team beat Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson on their way to a championship, that's kind of insane when you think about it
SUBBED, GONNA LOVE THIS CHANNEL
Great video Tifo... Anyone know the title of the music used. Excellent curating
amazing content
They were actually one of the best defensive teams to ever win a championship, probably second only to Bill Russell's Celtics.
I got a video request for y’all.. How about.. Drazen Petrovic?
"the microwave" 🤣🤣 thats hillarious

Boston walked out on the Pistons, so whatever.

I think some players will back out of the team if thomas play in that dream team. There nothing Daly could do for that.
Nah. Zeke spoke with Daly beforehand and told him that he should go. He said, their team deserved to have some representation on the Dream Team.
Zeke most underrated player of all time
Bill Laimbeer had his own video game, "Combat Basketball." He relished his role.
I still think IT is underrated
Now you have to do a vid on the "JailBlazers."
My favorite team of All time

Thomas/Billups
Dumas/Hamilton
Rodman or Dantley/Prince
Mahorn/R. Wallace
Laimbeer/B. Wallace
7 game series, who would win
Love my Pistons
Bill Laimbeer, or punchy boi as JJ Bulls calls him
🔥🔥
Would be great to add the legacy this team bring for 2004 championship team. Had the same grit and status as the (arguably) less favorite compared to other contenders
Who put together that 2004 Championship team? Joe Dumar no less. A great un-song basketball mind.
Great video. Need to look up names to spell them correctly. ISAIAH
Do one on steph
Only one thing wrong from 80 to 86 was ran by Kareem not magic
Bill lambier and draymond should have a boxing match 😂😂😂😂 might even get a cameo from Ron artest 💀💀💀
lets go tifo bball
i like this
Laimbeer played thirteen seasons for Detroit, not nine. Good stuff, otherwise.
feel kinda weird listening to a calm brit talking about basketball.
Marc Ah-gee-re
This is just so awkward to listen to NBA talk being spoken in a British accent 😂
They should have used an American. It sounds so wierd
@@taiwoadebola5617 I mean, that's a British football channel so they can't get an American to talk on their basketball channel
Bill Laimbeer? Arguably the most hated? I'm pretty sure there's not much of an argument against that!
Laimbeer is most hated player all-time. Not even close. American emotion is keeping him out of NBA coaching and the Hall.
Detroit (without the 4th quarter) melt down or rather mistakes, bad calls from Ref’s, phantom call, to fast and eager to throw the ball in only to get it stolen, Detroit SHOULD have won 4 championships in a roll. Oh, how great would that have been ???

Jesus Loves you and wants you to accept him as your Lord and saviour
I mean it’s pretty fitting that their from Detroit, a very violent city with high crime rate
These players used to hate each other! Now all these guys are soft and just wanna team up
Kelly tripuka rulZ!!!!!!!#7
Dunno if a fully healthy pistons could have beaten a fully healthy Lakers team but still have tons of respect for the bad boys even as a lakers fan.
