Engl cab is loaded with Chinese Celestion Vintage 30 and Mesa Boogie cab with British Celestion Vintage 30. All mic positions were the same and amp settings almost the same except small details (to reduce to a possibly the same sound). Unprocessed tracks.

Cabinet makes much bigger impact on sound than amp. Amps sounds very similar with same cabinet at least when you mice them.
That really seems to be the case. I've come to realize that Mesa cabs are the most badass

For anyone considering the Mesa I suggest checking out the engl in person because having been an owner of a powerball ii and v30 2x12 the clip on here sounds nothing like it. It sounds ten times better. It sounds more like a boss metal zone going directly into an amp on here. The engl will not have the same gain level or thickness but it gets to just the right point. I put a distortion pedal in the fx loop and the distortion was ridiculous. Especially if you turn up the bass on a good pedal. It was to the point where I wouldn’t generally use more because you might as well forget a bass. Also when I put another distortion and played with the mid control I pedal you could feel that static sensation of sizzling mids. The overall voicing is insane. From watching videos it seems with the Mesa it is usually centered in one area but what I like about the Engl is that the voicing is there in all frequencies. It just depending on what you are feeding it. I like Mesa for that punch it has and both seem to be great. I think a lot of time we limit the equipment more than it limits us. It just takes time to experiment and see what anything can really do. Sometimes equipment that isn’t a general tool is perfect for that one song or area of speciality where it crushes the competition.
The Engl has a midbump that I prefer over the Mesa, best combo was either the Peavey+Engl or the Engl+Engl
Engl head and Engl cab. Can't go wrong.

Guys… ones a factory spec custom V-30 built for Mesa, and ones a factory spec standard British V-30 sold to market. The tonal difference isn’t so much the wood or depth of the cab, as much as the sound resonance being slightly scooped on the Mesa Custom spec’d V-30. If you can’t tell, it allows the speaker to carry a more modern low end rumble with higher fizz. If you’re looking for a speaker that’s more versatile, go with the Engl. and If you’re just down with a one trick scooped tone - go Mesa.

Agreed Marko. Price of Mesa's in Europe basically makes them useless. Retailers in Sweden have even stopped selling them because no one buys them any more. They do sound good though... but price for value is just really shitty compared to basically all other brands.
Well Europe sounds like a messed up bitch, here in the U.S. Mesa and Engl are equally expensive.
I ordered my Mesa cab on the 2nd of January 2023 and couple of days ago (February 5th) I was told that there are delays until 2024, so I won’t get it till 2024, even being overpriced. So I just decided to go with Engl, everything else should be just about EQing it to the way you like.
5150 thru the engl is amazing.
I'll take one of each except for maybe the krank and marshall. Excellent comparison, job well done!
Mesa Cab EVER, EVER and EVER.
I own Engl 2x12 Pro, it's very fizzy if you mic it close to the center, you may have to move it slightly off-center to get some nice low end, mid and smooth highs.
Mesa 2x12 in this comparison video has more balanced tone, which kinda put me into a huge thought about getting it lol.
Not true, the majority of your fizz might be from your mic or condenser. I’d also make sure you’re letting your amp breath and maybe roll back your gain and highs a notch. Don’t forget that V-30’s are designed to let mids shine, they crack under “scooped” settings.

Mesa cab has more punch and meat. Engl sounds apocalyptic tough, those lows are from hell.
5150 on both cabs I'd first for me followed by the Dual Rec on the Engl and the Powerball on the Mesa cab on third. No wonder the 5150 holds up
it's funny how tight Mesa + Mesa sounds and Engl + Engl...it's like they designed it that way... :D
Over 90% of the sound/tone comes from the speakers. Experiments have been done and basically the material has little to offer to the tone in general. Also, Mesa cabs use custom V30s made directly from celestion uk. ENGL uses the international version (Chinese) like most cabs that uses v30s that are not mesa boogie
All amplifiers sound better with the MESA 212 cabinet.
Mesa cab is just killing it on all amps
the perfect combo is powerball with mesa cab, BUT the placement of the mic seems to play a lot soundwise, even the crappy marshall sound fairly good with the mesa cab. in fact if you re near to the amp used there no compar with whath w've hearing here. i'mfrenchandsosorrytinkin

They all sounded great but I prefer the mesa cabinet sound better. The mesa cab sounds huge and clearer without the harsh fizz of engl cab. Does the engl cab have Chinese V30? Also what ohms of speakers are in both cabs?

Haha, I've sold 5150, Krankenstein and Marshall 8100. Have some regrets about 5150 but would like to buy 5150 II or 6505+ someday.

The China V30s always seem to have a mid-high hiss
Neither of these Celestions are made in China. Two of only a handful of manufacturers that buy the real thing. Ones custom though (Mesa) with custom specs, and the Engl is the British V-30 sold to market.

Odd. I heard the exact opposite in your other video about this cabs. In that other video the Mesa was fizzier and the Engl more focused on the mids (ua-cam.com/video/PeVZGw9bHOM/v-deo.html)
This is old video and Engl cab had stock chinese v30, not UK ones as on my latest comparison video. Also I set up all these tube heads not in the best way I could.
The Mesa cab with a hair less mids. The Engle has the Marshall zappiness i dont like.
