    - Olive Oil
    - Medium low heat
    - Warm up egg white until bottom of pan is no longer is showing. If egg is bubbling around the edges means heat is too high-- pick it up!
    - Get under egg with spatula and move it around
    - Once you can't see color of spatula behind egg, it mean it's time to flip
    - Pull oil under eggs with spatula
    - Yolk should just give just a little and spring back, you're done!
    Thank you for this video!

    This is the only video I've found on UA-cam that teaches how to fry an egg PROPERLY. I've found other videos with more views where the butter is burned, the eggs are seasoned before cooking which causes them to weep, the pan is too hot to start and it burns the edges of the egg... Keep in mind when ordering this in restaurants, some places do over-easy a little too easy and it doesn't cook all the way through. For those who find that to be a bit gross to eat, you _can_ order it 'over-medium' and they'll come out just the way she has shown in this video. Perfect consistency!

    • @sgim43
      @sgim43 6 років тому +14

      yea some do but most don't. and who the heck wants to take the chance and waste your breakfast and egg getting served a hard yolk. Some restaurants also over cook steak. I'm not going got start ordering it well done assuming they are incompetent.

    • @arbitrage2141
      @arbitrage2141 5 років тому +7

      sgim43 Same.. I ordered over medium and the white was chewy with a molten/almost hard boiled yolk.
      I just clarify over easy WITH NO RUNNY WHITES.
      Or just cook my own.. Real easy to cook I might just make my own video on how to fry a damn egg most videos I see make it way more complicated than it is

      For my entire life I’ve only eaten scrambled or hard boiled eggs, but just recently I wanted to finally broaden my horizons a bit. I didn’t think I would like super runny yolks, so I ordered over medium at a restaurant and they came out great. Runny, but maybe just ever so slightly gelatinous. I really liked them. I’ll be ordering my eggs this way for the foreseeable future.

      Don’t be scared of it. If you cook it long enough initially, you’ll notice the yolk hardens and doesn’t move around easily. It becomes extremely easy to flip if you do with it with some quickness. If the yolk breaks when you pick it up, you didn’t cook it long enough yet

    I love this tutorial..... works fantastic!
    I just find it funny when the egg is flipped and some ends up on the side of the pan and is attempted to be covered up with the spatula, then a quick cut and it's gone! LoL
    But, great instruction though!

    I guess I'm the odd one. We always see videos where EVERYONE likes a runny yolk.
    Then there's me who likes it half/half so that it's basically jelly-like but not dripping out when you cut it.
    Runny yolks I feel like I'm feeding the plate and wasting all that extra yolk lol

    That looks more like a poached egg. Still delicious though... In my opinion, a fried egg is supposed to have a little bit of crust, so you do want it bubbling a little. Cast iron makes the best fried egg, it just requires more oil. I think the point is that "best" is preference based.

      Poached eggs are cooked entirely in water...

      Agree with you, need a bit of crust on a fried egg, I bet the texture feels like poached.

    When the white isn't runny, that's an over medium.

    • @sgim43
      @sgim43 6 років тому +2

      I disagree. When you order/make overeasy eggs, ordering runny is when you get the white uncooked. Regular overeasy is the perfect egg yolk uncooked but white fully cooked. Over medium is when the yolk starts to harden but not fully... you can sop up some egg yolk with your toast but rest remains stuck to the egg white. Well done or hard is nothing runny. I mean the whole REASON why this version started was to NOT have the runny white that sunny-side up can have.

  • @DavidTMSN
    @DavidTMSN 6 років тому +1

    Beautifully done. How in the world did you not break that yolk is beyond me. Not necessarily on the flip, but when you slid the spatula underneath it right after doing so.

    Excellent video, I made perfect over easy eggs on the first try. Word of advice, skillet size does matter, I was using a 10'' skillet and the yolk spread out more. Also if you are cooking more than one egg put them in a ramkin or bowl then pour them into the skillet.

    There we go!! I figured out what I was doing wrong. I kept the pan on the stove even if I saw bubbling, and the egg usually comes out overcooked on the bottom and undercooked on the top, whilst also being oddly dry... I will try lifting the pan every so often, thank you!
