Welcome to our Season 2 finale! An Honest Government Ad season = a term of Australia’s federal government, and this one hatched in May 2019. So it's the end of a chapter of history. A shit-stained chapter, no-doubt, but history nevetheless. Thank you to everyone who has supported our work these past tree years on Patreon; especially those of you have been with us since Season 1. Our political system in Australia is designed to keep the corrupt paedophiles in power. There is no way for an alternative party to get elected in any real numbers.

This is my sole and trusted news source for Australia news... AND US news for that matter. Excellent writing, spot-on presenters and even the cheesy voiceover track great. On the last point I hasten to add their "looping' (voice dubbing) skills are top-fuking tier. You guys rock, can't say enough good things about this absolute gem of a series.

Not quite, at least Australia still has a public healthcare system that won't bankrupt you or charge you a dozen times the going rate for common, essential drugs like insulin. And it's pretty rare that anyone goes berserk and shoots the shit out of members of the public. 15 shooting deaths in the last decade where perpetrator and victims were unknown to each other, and 16 more shooting deaths through family violence (7 in one event).

The really unfortunate part about this video is that everything that's said is true. This video should run as an add on MSM. You would need to tame the language but it would certainly get the message across.

Calm down a bit mate - the LNP are in trouble. The polls are all generally favouring Labor. But even that doesn't tell you the whole story - because several Liberal seats are looking like they might fall to Independents. The election is not a sure thing either way. But you should know that there is quite a decent chance of the LNP losing. Labor might form government with a slim majority, or with support from Independents + Greens.
If you give middle and low income earners a tax offset, of course you'll get another term!
As one of the "not-blessed", I honestly have no hope that things will get better. It's probably a defence mechanism at this point. If I got my hopes up (that I'd ever get the support I need to make my life worth living), only for them to be dashed (again), I son't think I'd survive that. So, no hope. Aussies are awfully apathetic and stupidly conservative. That's not a good mix.

I suspect the US media you saw grouped the two together. For a 32.6% "no vote for president" vote. Though it fails to account for apathetic, rather than protesting, voters, or those who weren't able to vote on the day for non political reasons.
The blank vote is lower than in 2017, with over 3 million blank votes/6% of registered voters and one million spoilt ballots/2%. Abstention however rose from 25.4%. The record is 31% in 1969
Single runoff is better than FPTP, but it is a bit of a bugger that you had multiple left-of-center candidates taking votes off each other in the first found voting allowing that foul [expletive deleted] Le Pen to squeak in to the runoff.

Unfortunately, the way things are going, the best you can hope for is a leader who pretends to care just a bit more about just over half of voters than their opponent at the time of election. That's all you need to win, so extra campaigning is wasted effort.
The parliamentary system offers some protection by needing support to be spread across the country to some extent and making a hung parliament possible, while a narrow majority would be vulnerable to dissenting MPs.
It still certainly doesn't incentivise a leader to care about the whole country, though - why give 100 people $1 each when you could give 60 of them $1.5, keep the change, and still win?
