I dynoed my G87 down here in South Africa, it made 358kW at the wheels, which roughly translates to 480hp at the wheels. It's no surprise the M550i got beaten. For reference, my F80 non-competition made about 312kW at the wheels back in the day on the same dyno, which translates to 415hp at the wheels.
Honestly, they made the M2 so fast that it diminishes the performance of the more expensive M cars! It's a super fast car for the price, and the tuning potential is of the charts!! 😂
@fzr1000981 Not in the foreseeable future since I just picked up the RS3 6 months ago, and like having my current bimmer for winter time driving! RS3 ain't going to see snow anytime soon lol!!

Word to AMG 63 model owners, dont try to run a 2018+ M550 awd, stock for stock, you'll get smoked. These things are under rated and are realistically 550 hp/575 tq. I had a 2018 E63S 9 spd stock and my buddies stock M550ix was even feom a dig upto 115 mph..
I try to stay within the horsepower realm of a similar power to weight. However, I know there's a lot of people that want me to race a much faster car like a 650hp Camaro zl1 or 717 horsepower hellcat lol..
You don't want to use MDM. It will still cut power if it detects any sort of loss of traction. Use DSC off. I will be coming out with a video on this in the future.
The M5 (and even more so the M8) are a little too expensive in my opinion. Both vis-a-vis "lesser" options like the M550 or the M3/M4, and the direct competition from Mercedes and Audi, or even Porsche. I know the M5 carries a prestige that the M550 won't ever reach, but for all practical intends and purposes the M550i is plenty; no need to upgrade to an M5 in my opinion. If you want a pure driver's car / sports car, the M5 is too large (and heavy) anyway. As a cruiser and highway missile the M550 is better. A guy in my neighborhood has a black M550i, they look really good (and aggressive enough) in real life.
Great video! Nevertheless, something is strange here. The latest M2 and the latest M550i should have quite similar acceleration times from 60 to 120 mph. There should be not so much of a difference in the rolling race. Could it be that the individual Sports settings in M550i were not all set to Sport plus for engine and the gearbox? Also, I would expect better performance with gearbox being in sport automatic mode.
@JVette01 Here, the 62 to 124 mph is 8.5 seconds for M2 Competition. This is practically the same as M550i. Only what I can guess is that your friend did not use ESC max traction mode (short press on ESC button), but I am not sure if that makes any difference. Also, on the track, I was faster with my M550i than all of the M2s on that track day event (and there were many), on the sprint parts of the track. So this is why I am surprised about the result in your video. ua-cam.com/video/i_KjOrloDck/v-deo.htmlsi=EQW0rkn-x2kmJm59

@@JVette01 No! The M550i has almost 70hp/150tq more than the M2, two additional cylinders, and it's not even heavy. Here you are walking away from it and reeling it in very easily. You’re a funny guy. You love denying results. Btw, you’re the only one here denying the results. You’re better off using the “the other car is not running right” excuse than to assume I’m lying about my M2 being stock. Your idea of comparing speed is flooring a car off idle going 0-60 and 1/8 mile, so in that case, the m550 would be faster.
@@JVette01 You know it helps you with clicks and the comment arguments. Most of your audience are VAG enthusiasts. You do it for the algorithm. 1. False. I don't fake anything on my videos.. and my M2 is stock. Maybe you can do your dragy test in efficient mode with traction on off idle so you can try to convince yourself it's slower than an M550. The M2 is faster in a roll. M550 can take it from the dig.
