I bet Palpatine could speed up or slow down the war as needed, to better align events with Anakin’s fall and to make sure everything was ready for Empire day. Leak some tactical information to one side… order some new big invasion, etc. and generally make sure all the pieces were in place so in the end all the political power and legal authority was firmly in his grasp and Anakin’s distrust and frustration with the Jedi was running high. You can imagine Sidious constantly adapting the details of his grand plan, to best suit his needs and goals throughout the war. At first I thought The Clone Wars was just a fun series about the fighting between the end of AotC and the beginning of RotS. Little did I know that the point of the show was to depict the Jedi losing their way in the conflict while the Chancellor gains more power over the Senate and the courts.

@JW-do3mp Well, all these planets likely have maps on their general terrain and continents. But, on a Galactic scale, you'd see planets fall after taking key major cities on each continent. Not as grueling as it has been in our world in the past.
The interesting thing about how this is framed in the story is that it depicts vast swathes of space and their campaigns as sieges. Shows a sense of scale and subtle dread at the massive amount of war occurring at this time
It was NOT Nute Gunray who deactivated the Droid Army. The Droid Army was disabled by Darth Vader, as revealed in one scene in Revenge of the Sith, AFTER he killed Nute Gunray.
A very compelling in-depth and terrifically detailed breakdown of the last major phase of the clone wars; the blood bath that was the outer rim sieges. As well as the last part of the massive and fatale trap that was the revenge of the sith, that once sprung lead to the destruction of the republic, Jedi and Separatists and formation of the empire.
They were so hard to dislodge that the Empire still had trouble with them years after. Look at the episode in bad batch, the droids shoot down the transport Cody is on and slaughter half their squad, only reason the empire won was because of lucky shots on the commando droids and the tactical droid.
Tbh, I'm unsure about the claim that the CIS was really losing during the Outer Rim Sieges. Grievous believed that a separatist victory was possible, even after Coruscant. And he was no fool. The CIS lost around 5% of their entire strength in the Battle of Coruscant. Devastating in absolute numbers, but acceptable in comparison. Even the death of Count Dooku wasn't as fatal as it first appeared. The CIS truly died with General Grievous. If he had survived, the war would've continued. And considering that he would have undoubtedly unleashed all the reserves Sidious and Dooku kept behind the front lines for years, it's even possible that he could have destroyed the Empire within months. Especially if he arrived on Kashyyyk after Utapau and captured the planet and these secret hyperspace routes.
I’d say it was until the deactivation of the droid army that things were truly over. That caused what ever defenses were left to be compromised. Even with grevious and dooku dead they could have organized and pushed back without the interference of the separatists councils incompetence or sith conspirators

That the CIS only lost because of the Droid shut down command. It also doesn't make sense the Republic had a bigger industry because droids can help build ships and other weapons 24/7. Droid factories operate 24/7. Droids don't need food, sleep, or rest. Just electrical power. So of course the Separatists had better industrial might than the Republic.

This always makes me wonder how large the clone army was. I always read numbers around 3 million, which seems to be far to small. For scale: the axis forces invaded the UDSSR with about 6 million soldiers
Having a 3 million number for the clones makes a little more sense in a harder sci-fi universe where entire planets only have a few cities or places of interest to fight over. As it stands, 3 million is literally nothing when you have Ecumenopolis planets everywhere

It’s so crazy how many parallels the clone wars draw to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, totally orchestrated from the absolute top to do nothing other than instill terror and fear, to THEN, only after the populace was convinced, was able to completely turn the tide of the entire republic. What I wonder was how an why all them Yagdul fleets an any CIS forces, other then Sideous's doing. Never learned of all the secret counter attack forces including multiple fleets just waiting for them with orders to launch an all out galaxy wide counter assault an crush them... It basically was going "yeah CIS got played..." So much for the propaganda the Republic was losing... Losing forces an their factions lost the ability to pull off such counter attacks an set those sorta traps
I've been wondering for awhile now, as someone fairly new to The Clone Wars period (read: access to disney+): Who on the CIS side knew Palpatine was Sidious? Anyone? Dooko? Grievous? And is the answer different in Canon vs. Legends?
I'd suggest that's a rather difficult question to answer Buddy, since brutality in any war is a given. If you mean most despicable means of conquest, the Rakata were quite good at that. If you mean most lives lost per battles accumulated, The Yuhzan Vong Wars would probably lead. if you mean long slogs without visible means of an end for extended periods per battle, the Clone Wars no doubt head the chart. So, you'd need to further embellish what ya mean. Old creamy Sheevs may have been one of the most calculating and forward thinking of the Sith but some of his predecessor's activities, gave new meaning to the word "despicable" when it came to specific battles.
Clone: We’re just Clones, sir. We’re meant to be expendable. Plo Koon: Not me Those 2 sentences made us grow to love each and every clone & we as fans would mourn them when they die. *Except Fox*
If the Searpatists won at Kashyyyk, how will this impacted the Clones Wars? I mean, the Separatist Council will no longer have the reason to surrender now that they can regrouped at Kashyyyk and scatter once again all over the Republic space and launch raids there and there, making the war lasted longer. But aside from that, will this hammered down Palpatine's declaration of the Empire? And will there be anything else that can be added here as impacts of this Separatists' victory?
@@theliato3809 I know that. But they don't needed to. They just needed to do some random raiding while also reinforce the important battles such as the one at Mygeeto, Felucia and Saleucami in order to tire the Republic out. But if it did, then what Palpatine needed to do is to secretly arrange the assassination of the members of the Separatist Council later one by one while also secretly employing pirate gangs and even the Hutts to harass these independet systems to force them to either rejoin the Republic or being left at the mercy of the criminals.
@@theliato3809 By securing Mygeeto, they will have enough money to fund the war efforts while controlling Saleucami will given the Separatists the means to transport goods and docks for warships. man one day i hope we get a live action clone wars tv show about this inspired by Band of Brothers/The Pacific.
Awesome visuals good video ! 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Great video, please do one explaining why Ahsoka should have died (unless your opinion has changed of course given recent events in the Ahsoka series)
Ayyy thank you man, the team and I will consider this idea:)
It's easy to win a war when the same person is running both sides.
Actually not really since you have to create a super spy network. One so good neither side learns you're pushing the buttons.
If either learned the truth both could have started working together.
It’s so crazy how many parallels the clone wars draw to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, totally orchestrated from the absolute top to do nothing other than instill terror and fear, to THEN, only after the populace was convinced, was able to completely turn the tide of the entire republic. Not much different than the Patriot Act. Thanks for your videos.
The end of the Clones Wars was crazy
21:31 That picture is freaking awesome
Where is the melee fight against the B2s depicted? I remember Bacara buffing melee damage in the minis game- this must be where that comes from!
Great video
20:30 why you do bro like that😭
20:35 😂 Jedi homeboy Lookin TOO Excited with HIS Erect Lightsaber.
😂😂😂
Just read Labyrinth of Evil and felt I had to catch up on The Outer Rim Sieges
Cartography may not be your next calling in life my Buddy but your narrative skills, more than make up for it! :)
Thanks much for another excellent Vid!
Im thinking about making a fan novel that takes place through a clones perspective (maybe a jedi’s) were the fight is towards the end of the war and shows how brutal it was. Thanks for this video, the creative gears are turning.
Phenomenal content bro, amazingly in depth for as concise as you presented the material on the clone wars
Love that it’s on the ‘true’ canon, legacy lol
I think the Felucia theatre was intended to get rid of as many clones as possible before the end of the war
I love these kind of videos that dive into history
So it's kinda like WWII when German blitzkrieg overran the Allies only for there to be a massive battle of attrition on multiple fronts that ended with the fronts collapsing and the Allies winning.
Traps within traps every time in the clone wars
the galactic rim seiges needed to happen so i could see the galactic marines in ep3
without doubt the coolest looking clones. end of story
is it just me or did anyone else notice the pic at 22:18 is from halo lmao. the ships are from that one mission at the end of H4 and theres legit a pelecan in the back
hey, dont forget the broadswords on the eges of the platform/airstrip
I wonder if the planet Acherin was a nod to the moon ‘Acheron’ in the Aliens franchise.
And when I looked up ‘Acheron’ in wookiepedia, it describes a class of ship. Reminds me of the nod to Foundation for Trantor.
0:42 Mace looking at palpatine like he wanna kick over his wheelchair
I have an idea for a Star wars battlefront entry and the outer rim series is known in the GAR as: Operation Rancor
Clone phase armor 1 is the best!!! 🥋🔫🔫🔫
The events of Episode 3 being over a week makes no sense and should have been 6 months.
The outer rim siege were already going for several months by the beginning of episode 3.
@@AAhmou That doesn't make the events of Episode 3 making absolutely no sense as a week long series of events any more logical. Padme went through half a pregnancy in a week.
Feels more like there’s a vague time spine of weeks to months rather one week For revenge of the sith.
35:41 That Jedi at the center of the artwork looks eerily familiar to Baylan Skoll, albeit in a younger version
“Got its sith together first” 😂 nice one
I’m sorry to say this, but I feel like the calm meditative track used in the background of the first three chapters is kinda out of place for this type of video 😅. Still, great content as always!
I want films about this war, everyone loves it
If I were Grievous, I would've jumped into hyperspace the moment Palpatine got captured and was aboard the Invisible Hand.
Perfectly fine to understand but kinda funny to name parts of a galactic map south and west :D
Where is Baldamnic covered? I know the IGBC buys it in Darth Plagueis...
New drinking game, take a shot every time he says rim. I would be dead in the fist 5 mins!
What system of dating was used in the star wars galaxy before the battle of Yavin? I’m assuming it would be based on the foundation of the republic but I haven’t seen anything about it.
Out of universe, everyone uses Yavin.
In universe it would be the rusaan reformation for the peoples of galactic civilization after that event
Yeah i remember fighting tooth and nail against the super battle-droids with my fists. Fuckers didn't know what hit them and never did Ki Adi Mundi
Long live the Republic and its Clone guardians.
Damn these are still so good!!!!!
I've been wondering for awhile now, as someone fairly new to The Clone Wars period (read: access to disney+): Who on the CIS side knew Palpatine was Sidious? Anyone? Dooko? Grievous? And is the answer different in Canon vs. Legends?
Question:
What time period had the most brutal wartime conflicts?
Why is the corruscant guard holding the catalyst kid from mass effect at 31:55? 😂
22:18 Halo spotted
Yeah wtf 😂😂😂😂😂😂 i love halo so I am not upset to be honest halo is way better than Star Wars
But they are both goats
Clone: We’re just Clones, sir. We’re meant to be expendable.
Plo Koon: Not me
Those 2 sentences made us grow to love each and every clone & we as fans would mourn them when they die. *Except Fox*
Fox did nothing wrong.
The final months of the pacific theater ww2 of the clone wars
If the Searpatists won at Kashyyyk, how will this impacted the Clones Wars? I mean, the Separatist Council will no longer have the reason to surrender now that they can regrouped at Kashyyyk and scatter once again all over the Republic space and launch raids there and there, making the war lasted longer. But aside from that, will this hammered down Palpatine's declaration of the Empire? And will there be anything else that can be added here as impacts of this Separatists' victory?
It would help in the push back agaisnt the republic advance but won’t mean much without continued success elsewhere
@@theliato3809 I know that. But they don't needed to. They just needed to do some random raiding while also reinforce the important battles such as the one at Mygeeto, Felucia and Saleucami in order to tire the Republic out. This will resulted in Palpatine's hands to be forced and sue for peace with the Separatists. Will this worked? I don't know. But if it did, then what Palpatine needed to do is to secretly arrange the assassination of the members of the Separatist Council later one by one while also secretly employing pirate gangs and even the Hutts to harass these independet systems to force them to either rejoin the Republic or being left at the mercy of the criminals.
@@lerneanlion That last part is certainly soemthing they could do but its still up in the air if that battle would make a difference by itself
@@theliato3809 By securing Mygeeto, they will have enough money to fund the war efforts while controlling Saleucami will given the Separatists the means to transport goods and docks for warships. As for Felucia, I don't know what it can offered aside from being the Commerce Guild's stronghold. But it is most likely important, right?
@@lerneanlionFelicia is more like a stronghold point for pressing further in.
The whole is the war effort for the sepratists really fell apart on mustafar where anakin just shut down the whole droid army/navy. Without that the CIS was still going strong in spite of their issues but once it happened the Empire could then just barrel through entire defensive positions easily and threaten worlds into submission. Look how quick it took them to reach Raxus secundus for instance.
They became conquerers more than liberators
Please give Ahsoka a long form video of her own. Arguably the best character in the Clone Wars and super fascinating throughout her entire story arc
1:45 oh? Really? The army consisting solely of… mechanical automatons… was easier to… organize for war… than armies made of people…?
I love your videos and i am a die hard Separatist supporter.
This is Canon for me!
2:02 that is basically how I play eaw
The shut down command went to Vader(Anakin) not Gun ray
Amazing
If the Sith weren't involved and both factions actually fought to WIN that would be way worse than what the clone war's already brought us.
The Clone War story follows the course of the US Civil War (likely by design). The Confederacy has early tactical success through decisive action and better leadership. Later the Republic reorganizes, mobilizes its stronger economy and grinds them down through attrition.
