Hi Afzal,
Wanted to reach you where does Institutional Client Services fall within the organization?
Thank you for the video Afzal. I have been following you for a long time and it has greatly helped me.
One question: Currently, I am about to finish my 6-month internship at a Sales Analyst sort of role. I really enjoy it but would also like to learn more about the investment role and develop my technical expertise. Do you think it is better for me to find another internship in a more investment role right now? Or currently, I might get offered a full-time position at the sales analyst role. Do you think one year from now I can switch to an investment analyst role at a new firm or would I have to start again as an intern?
Would really appreciate your help.

Hi afzal, I don’t do a level maths so I won’t be able to do economics at a decent uni, what’s the best degree you recommend me take? I’m thinking business management or accounting.
Thanks in advance 🙏
As a Management student who has studied accounting, go for business management. It's flexible and allows you to experiment and realize what you prefer between Finance, marketing, HR, accounting, etc, and then specialize. Going for straight up accounting might be risky as you either will love it or hate it (in my modest opinion, it's very boring. But the pay is good!)
Sara DC Hi thanks for your advice. I’m thinking of doing an information management degree at UCL as it incorporates a bit of technology with management. Also UCL is a great university so that’s a plus. Would you say that a management degree is as easy as everyone says it is? I wouldn’t mind it as long as it’s a respectable degree
UCL is really a great university, so if you get it and you like it, go for it. Will definitely bring you far. As for the Management degree being easy, well it depends on the modules you take and the effort you put into it. If you take a lot of HR and marketing modules it is obviously "easier" than if you concentrate on Finance and Accounting. Management degrees can be very good if they're from a good and reputable university, otherwise, for a less good university I'd go for a STEM degree (safer degrees to enter anything banking, financial services, etc)
Sara DC thanks for your help. I might go for management at UCL rather than economics at a lower ranked uni. I feel like nowadays employers care more about the university more than the degree. That’s why you can get in to investment banking with a history degree from a target uni. Anyways thanks a lot for your advice, much appreciated!
Hey but do we only have to use MS powerpoint? I mean we have so many other presentation softwares for presentations and data visualisations.
Yes, banks love being old school and sticking to Microsoft Office. Every presentation needs to go through an approval system which is tied to MS.
Nice video mate, i shot you a question over on insta, any chance you could get back to me id be greatful for your knowledge and insight. Thank you
