I just want to clear up that I will still be uploading my creative video ideas and haven't given up! I just have to space them out abit more with other types of content otherwise UA-cam will punish me and tell me directly that I'm doing bad which is super unmotivating! This has been a thing for years which is a shame but oh well! I guess... Eitherway this was just an update/ramble i needed to do, thank you all and I'll cya in the next video that I make soon.

Ugh. I totally feel for you , UA-cam’s current way of boosting uncreative , uninspired content has gotten out of hand. A lot of times just jumping on trends or drama is all that gets views. I can’t completely relate consider I only really post as a hobby and I post content that’s very different from what you do , however I’ll always try my best to support your content Mandy [:

I'd say the biggest problem is they send out surveys to creators and when we tell them that we're not happy with most aspects like the lack of viewership or notifications for smaller creators. I mean I feel forced to ask at the end of every one of my videos for people to like and subscribe to video despite being on her for close to 8 or 9 years and my traditional videos only get like, 5-10 views where my shorts get between 300 to 1,000 views Then again the difference with those is also apparent because when I do something like a video asking about people's favorite DreamWorks Movie I get like 2 or 3 views where if I talk about Religion or something controversial it gets 1,000 views.

Yeah. It sucks because they get so many comments too but not the good kind. People will argue viciously about controversial topics. That's not the type of attention that should be boosting the algorithm...

Or TikTok. And although TikTok is not amazing, this is one of the main reasons why it will most likely take over UA-cam within the next 5 years. And I can say from my experience, I just uploaded 3-4 videos on my TikTok and they are extremely popular compared to my UA-cam stuff. We know well UA-cam is not going to do anything, they just won't, so prepare for finding new video hosting websites.

Hey Mandy I’m not in the exact position as you cuz I’m a new creator to the platform but ye it sucks how you can put effort into a vid and it flop horribly. Let’s hope that the chimps higher up give everyone mercy

I agree honestly, I used to make low effort videos and now that I try putting effort into them they get nothing! I know it sounds like I'm desperate for views but I've been on this site for nearly 4 years and still get nothing! I used to get more than 1k back when I uploaded shitposts but now that I try to make decent videos they don't get much! It's frustrating because I don't have much time to make videos since I'm usually busy with my comic and only get to have a day if I'm lucky of making a video for social media to advertise the comic, keep in mind, the average time it takes me to make a simple 18 - 20 panel episode for my comic takes around 60+ hours! So I wish at least maybe youtube could recommend my videos to people so it can have people notice my comic! It isn't any different in other sites like Twitter or Instagram btw, but I do wish youtube can fix this so all of us creators can a decent amount of views each time we make videos with effort!!

UA-cam rewarding quick, easy, lazy content has definitely gotten out of hand since the shorts craze has started. It's actually the reason I stopped doing thought provoking content in the fighting game niche. Every creator I've spoken to has said they've gotten the most engagement they ever got from shorts. It's been a hot topic in the fighting game community to the point making guides and tutorials just isn't worth it on UA-cam anymore. Meme channels do the best on UA-cam now for fighting games.

My opinion about the difference between the "lazy" and creative videos' views:
Is actually understandable why this is the way it is. Ppl like fast and fun content. Ofc creative ideas are also super fun and entertaining, but view it like this: sometimes i just want a fast and fun rather than a looong and interesting video. And that's exactly why tiktok is so popular, there's a LOT of content, is a constant surprise, you don't know what's going to be the next video and that's why ppl love it.
I personally prefer being all day listening to a 4 hour long podcast talking about FNAF's lore and theories rather than watching short videos a day, but the majority prefer the second option.
Soo yeah that's it hope y'all have a great day/evening/night or something idk

I feel you most of the videos i make get hardly any views but every time i upload a lazy video that takes hardly any time to make it gets a bunch of views

Don't forget the UA-cam Shorts. UA-cam rewards those more than normal videos. UA-cam is no longer "you"tube. Apparently, Instagram's doing the same thing with shorts. I don't get why platforms want to "cash in" on TikTok's success by making themselves into TikTok ripoffs. This makes them WORSE even since they're ridding themselves of their own creative ideas to do so. I wish they'd butt off and understand that we'd download TikTok if we wanted those types of videos. A two second video shouldn't get as much attention as a long video that took more effort than just adding captions.
I don't care about money and I'll do what I please with UA-cam, though I heavily resent it for changing. I'm going to experiment and see what I can do (I'm more focused on writing right now, though). I don't think we should all comply, though, because the shitty gossip/drama trend is actually harmful and I hate the negative aura these videos seem to spread. Social media needs to support people who are truly creating rather than spreading tabloid gossip. Creators are what makes the world shine and it makes people happier, taking them *away* from the drama that rules over their everyday lives. This stupid trend is only making people more miserable :((

I'm not sure if this counts as a problem issue, but... UA-cam no longer it's accepting google play balance money to pay for the premium tier of being a member. Since it's says that "The main payment instrument cannot be secondary (aka, google play money)".

3:20 I think it also comes down to the possibility that the video on the left might attracts people that aren't/not a lot familiar with the source material while the video on the right seems more specific and treats a subject that not a lot of people know. But honestly it's the dumb content that gets promoted these times. Sometimes i upload a video and it does a lot better than usual, and i just ask myself why. It feels like it's about making the content more accessible with the thunbails and title, or have a concept that people understand instantly. To me, that's why people would click on the left video instead of the right one.

    • @MandyLovely
      @MandyLovely  2 роки тому

I can see that, I never really thought about that possibility but I can see what you mean. However that still wouldn't change the fact that youtube tries to make the creator feel like utter garbage when a video does bad, as I said in the video, it's why I avoid the youtube dashboard since UA-cam will just rub it in my face. Idk... I just want to upload my creative ideas without feeling like if I do then my channel will die out. However I do agree with you comment, I've noticed other comments tell me that a big reason why lazy content does better is because its sweet and short. I'm honestly not sure how I would do more ideas otherwise as....honestly making shorter videos without them being "shorts" feels impossible to me

The best way to deal with this is to bring up why to like and subscribe in a funny way. “Please like and subscribe and ring that taco bell icon” something like that. It’s a simple one but finding a way to say it correctly helps to keep the viewer engaged

UA-cam LOVES lazy content heck even some UA-camrs steals things from another UA-camrs and the Stealer gets more views THAN THE ACTUAL CREATOR and that's the sad reality of UA-cam tbh

Just be careful not to lose too much of yourself in these videos. If you follow the algorithm to a fault, you might get the whole channel demonetized for "repetitive content."

Kinda funny. Most of my normal videos don’t get too many likes and/or comments. But two shorts I posted of my dog (that I originally posted on Instagram by the way) got around 100 likes.

I understand your point Mandy. In today's society many companies that deal with social media or media in general put more priority in exxagerated drama or issues. All because those are the big money makers and people in general (not saying all but the general populace) usually rush to read about them. I mean you can turn on or listen to the news and 9 out of 10 times it's full of exxagerated issues with maybe one 2 minute conversation about a good deed done somewhere. UA-cam needs to let the content creators be themselves and maintain order if it's absolutely necessary
