Such an underrated bassist, he'll always be one of my all time favorites
I mean... he’s using a pick though.
@@dylananderson310 and where is the problem?
Everything that has ever happened is underrated
Bassists as a species are underatted I've been playing for 4 years and I'm half decent my respect for someone like Mike who can even come up with a catchy bassline like he has
@@dylananderson310 and wuts the problem with that?
This man is why I picked up bass.
XneverstopfightingX SAAAAAAME
Same. Got a nice blue maple neck fender p bass cause of this guy
Same, fam i love this man to death
same
Exactly the same
Mike is so underrated, he's so damn good
hes no Cliff Burton but hes an AMAZING bassist
Yea lol
Probably my favorite.
who's mike?
Excavalear drums Get out now.
underrated bassist
not at all
pattonPwr haha
Bryan Figueroa the hell you talkin' about?! Imo, Mike is overrated if anything. He is amazing!
50'smusicgroup fb have you ever listened to Green Day?
50'smusicgroup fb Existing since 1986. Highly doubt you've listened to every album.
i fucking died when he started playing stuart and the ave
Ryland Cook lol same Man he nailed the bass with all the tracks of insomniac
Ryland Cook standing on the corner of stuart and the avenue
AchrisGaming ripping up my transfer and a photograph of you
@Ryan loves green day Your a blur of my dead past and rotting existence
As I stand laughing on the corner of insignificance
Well, destiny is dead
In the hands of bad luck
Before it might have made some sense
But now it's all fucked up
He seems to be underrated. People hear Green Day's songs and on first listen a lot of their songs seem extremely simple, which is mostly because of the guitar's power chords, but when you listen closely to the bass lines on Dookie, you'll realize there's tons and tons of details in them.
If you look closely to the guitars, you gonna see that there's much more than power chords. Billie Joe mixes power chords and full chords and uses different chord shapes in the same song.
@@gabrielcasagrande9463 wow! such complexity!
@@UnitedFeodor wow, you totally got what I said.
Gabriel Casagrande bruh moment
@@gabrielcasagrande9463 i think i am the only guy who got what you said. It's about the sound that is coming out of that simplicity, not complex at all. Try playing the songs of green day in acoustic, and they will get you
Fcuk. Just listening to these bass lines raw is just oh-so satisfying and MIKE PLAYING 80 THOOOO. Total gem. Thank you Fender!
Aqil Kamaludin because E Standard tuning.
Aqil Kamaludin
Rizky E flat
The bassline in "She" is one of my favorites from him. Mike is so inspirational.
My favourite Mike Dirnt bassline is Holiday.
My favorite bass line Mike has wrote would have to be Castaway.
80 and No One Knows are also good
My favourite bass line of his is when i come around. Subtle diddles he does in that song really carry it
Me too bro
Green Day really should get "No One Knows" live! It has some on Mike's finest bass lines in their whole musicography!
They never played it live and I think he wouldn't be able to play it these days anyway, due to his carpal tunnel
djplikadida I believe he had surgery to fix it.
i agree, i know it's a fan favorite but it's not very well known! green day likes their crowd to sing along!
Jinglebells Jinglebells Bayern all the way yeah playing it standing up really stresses out my wrist when I play it
That is a great fucking song! Hell yes Marc!
I swear, Mike Dirnt has got to have one of, if not the best bass tone in punk rock.
Been listening to this guy's basslines ever since I started listening to music! Mike is a legend!
"Maybe someday i wont jump as high" Kinda hurts me to hear
TheGoldenSubway you are a troll named rod
sad sas fuck
GOD DAMN IT ROD
You're gonna make me beef
we're beefing :'(
Mike seems like such a upbeat, humble, give it his all type of guy. I love his bass work that he’s done on all of Green Day’s albums.
Right
When he plays 80 ! 😌
Huge respect for this Guy. Great player and cool Dude, played his signature Bass years ago loved it, nice features etc. he really put some thought in his instrument unlike some other ´artist´ which i wonder why Fender even bothers to have a product asociated with them.
I agree.
He makes this band, imo. So under appreciated
Dylan Burton yes i see people wanting to fuck with tre make kids with mike aswell haha
speaking of underapreciated, JASON WHITE
WWHY CANT THERE BE MORE CONTENT LIKE THIS ON THE INTERNET
Gabe Coury TRUEEEEEE
hey he played welcome to paradise in standard E, something you don't hear often
I think all his signature basses that he uses on tour are tuned to standard E...his older Precisions are tuned down to E# for the older songs...I never saw him using his signature bass for older songs like "She" or "Welcome to Paradise."
HughJanus he has at various points. He did on Bullet in a Bible, and a few other performances from the AI/21CB era.
in iHeartRadio 2012, Also played Standard E in Basket Case, then was smashed
Rizky I've seen on UA-cam that the guitar and bass that were smashed at iHeartRadio were fixed afterwards
Shadownet you mean Eb
To me, ONLY Mike Dirnt can rock the sideburns.
And what about Patrick stump?
and sam winchester (the dude from supernatural)
Lemmy
He have such an amazing talent with the bass. This guy is one of the best bassist ever. Mike is underrated bassist !
Should check out Green days Husker Du cover 'Don't wanna know if you are lonely, Mike fucking nails it.
Nice to hear him play Stuart and the Avenue
This man is really incredible. He is an inspiration as a bassist, a musician, and just a person in general.
As much as I love how Mike performs I'd love to hear him sing more songs.
Yeah I dig Mike's vocals!
Amen to that bro. 😌🙏
Mike has sleeves guys...
Lui Fermn I was waiting for this lol
DJDenve8 _ that isn't mike they're lying to us
No
It gets worse. He doesn’t stop.
Must not be Mike then
he’s probably my favorite bassist. even just watching this video you can tell he has a passion for playing bass and is genuinely talented, his bass lines are so good and under appreciated
Not only is he an amazing bass player, he also has amazing sideburns
1:24 that is one the best bass line I ever heard! wow. just wow!
Stuart and the ave is defo the best song on insomniac. haha
0:35 i love the do doot in when i come around omg
He is my favorite bassist. He inspired me to learn bass with his epic lines.
very cool of fender to do this with everyone I grew up listening to.
🎸❤
Mike Dirnt: Legend and former master of the bass guitar
This dude was a huge inspiration and influence on 16-year old, newly minted bassist me in 1991. I heard Kerplunk and bass made SENSE. You can contribute to the melody, you can push the others, you can fill any hole. As far as I'm concerned he's one of the great bassists of the era.
I play bass with my high school band, he's my fucking idol
I love that he played the bassline from '80' : )
*when playing 80*
That's been a while
IT SURE HAS MIKE, IT SURE HAS
Everyone listen to him play Panic Song.
The man actually injured himself playing it. What a guy
*in mikes head: Ok let’s just get Longview out of the way so I can actually give my review* 😂
I bet he’s sick of okay that.
Literally the man whos the reason why i play bass!! Truly amazing and inspirational bass player and one of the best of all tike to pick a bass guitar up!
what i love about green day, is how they're not only awesome musicians, but also awesome people
0:48 Legendary
i bought the bassman 800 because of this video. its been over a year now and i am very happy with this head. every practice i say out loud how much i like it. very glad it doesnt suck!
Just one word: LEGEND
Always loved Mike's playing and he was one of my favorite bass players as a kid and in dookie era. He has a very unique sound and i like that his not playing what guitar plays and that makes him really stand out. Truly inspirational player. Now i play guitar and bass but i have a special love for the bass. "Bass is the balls of a band" as we say in Finland.
We love you, mike you’re an awesome, and my favorite bassist. Green Day would not be the same without you, you’re the krazy glue holding them together, keep on pickin’ and slappin’
Mike Dirnt.... HELLA Underrated Bass Player IMO........ Simple Riffs...... But Hard Hitting...... And Catchy AF....... His Bass Riffs on Longview..... Holiday...... And Many More....... So Good..... You Hear it Once..... and You can't Quite Forget Them....... I Respect That Kind of Guitar Playing Style..... Same goes with BILLIE JOEs Guitar Riffs/Solos...... I Love Green Day.....
His Fills are really what brings Green Days sound together So Much.. Beyond Talented.. We Love You Mike!!
him and Billy sheehan are the only two bassists that I think really really pull of fast basslines, the way they both flow between notes is so satisfying. Maybe its just a function of them using similar tones, but damn
Mike and Brian Marshall are the reason I learned to play bass guitar. Criminally underrated bassists
this is what the bass should be all about. i don't get bands where you can hardly hear the bass, or its just super basic. in green day all three of them really showed up ♥
The first bassist that I admired...thanks Mike...i started playing bass because of you..
what a great bassist, makes such addictive rhythms, even when you don't notice them, you're still addicted to it, green day wouldn't be a band without this man
he has skill and he is just perfect! he's my fav bassist! 💖💖💖
A song within a song! Thats exactly what I have been calling my playing for over 20 yrs now!!
One of my favourite bassists. Also he is playing Welocme to Paradise in standard tuning at the start👍.
best bass player ever
xddd
that one guy lol try again
Ah, Welcome to Paradise and Longview!! Two of my favourite 90’s Green Day songs!!
Love my Fender amps. I've got two rumble 500's and 4 2x10 cabs. Sounds awesome for all types of music.
Thats impressive how they're all still look so young!
Because of this man, I now play bass in a school of rock house band.
All the basslines he played, all basslines i learned to play bass to circa 1996. I still find Dirtnisms in my playing sometimes. Influenced me a lot even though i don't play punk anymore and havent really in probably 20 years.
0:05 "Welcome to paradise"
0:50 "Longview"
1:25 "Stewart and the ave"
2:33 "80"
Enjoy 😉
Thank you !!
From japan
Real heroes don't wear capes
His tone is what brought me to bass
i saw a fender speaker at my school and i took a sticky note and put "mike drint is underated" and almost got sent to the office lol
Mama Luigi shoulda told em to fuck off
Probably because you spelled it wrong
You are punk.
OMG such a punk!... That's sarcasm btw poser!
Da King Nothing you're really attacking a child for writing on a sticky note? what ISNT punk is elitism, leave the damn kid alone & let them have fun supporting their favorite artists. this is the kinda low-blow elitism that actual punks don't wanna be associated with, do better.
He's my inspiration, I still don't understand how Mikey is an underrated bassist!
i started listening to Green Day since 12 and wanted to play bass because of Mike :')
welcome to paradise will always be my favorite song to play on bass
Who says real bassists don't use picks?? This man is a damn legend. Love you Mike!
Go Mike! One of the best bassist on Earth!
I saw Mike Drint in concert.
We ❤️ you Mike Drint
Mike Mike Mike Mike
Green Day is one of the reasons I am planning to learn bass and guitar (I hurt my right arm so I can't right now) I am gonna learn bass first
I think the "No one knows" bass line is WAY better than the "Longview" bass line. I was expecting him to play it when he started talking about Kerplunk...
what a super cool guy and kick ass bass player love the sound of his Fender Precision
Watched this video so many times. So great
Mikes voice is so soothing to me omg i love his man 💞💞
He’s such a great bass player and has killer fills
Mike dirnt inspired me to make a band with my friends, we get local gigs pretty much monthly! Thanks Mike😁
I’m not a huge Green Day fan but man I sure can respect mike as a player. Pretty talented
Mike is such a great bassist and amazing goofball BTW when he plays 80 I started to tear up.
This dude was my idol growing up. I wanted to be like him and play like him. I'm 24 now and I still think he is cool.
I love the tone when he hits that low E string ooof that is the sound of thunder
That tone, that groove, that charisma. Such talented bassist but underrated.
I listen to Green Day for years ("duh dude, we see your profile pic") but at some point, one day at random, i pay attention to the bass for the fist time... and i realize how much i love it and how much of the sound comes from there. Since then i have huge respect for Mike Dirnt.
Bassist that actually has a solid personality.
Mike Dirnt was the reason I picked up bass, after my dad got me into Green Day. He and I would blast it all the time and he really wanted me to play bass.
I play guitar, but everyone has been telling me that I should play the bass. Quite honestly, this man is the sole reason that I would ever imagine playing the bass.
Toca muito, linhas bem trabalhadas!!
Gracias a él tocó bajo. Es un ídolo para mi.
Such a huge inspiration on me as a bass player!
I'm so happy he played Stuart and the Ave.
I wished he tried No One Knows. God, the bassline on that song is just... Gold
Gracias Mike amo el bajo y su sonido de bajo es mi maximo estandar 🖤
wow perfect tone i need this
“Stuart and the avenue” is one of the most underrated greenday songs when it comes to bass
Hearing him play Stuart and the Ave. gives me hope 🤘
I just did a cover on here of “Too Dumb to Die” using a fender Bassman 500 DI output only. The clarity and tone of this amp is incredible! Fender you got this Amp totally Spot on!
I'm seeing Green Day in June. I really want to meet Mike!
80 and Stuart/Ave are sick.
Gotta love our sweet bass dad...
Also, the bit about BJ getting him his first Fender!! dawww
Stewart and the Ave in bass is so 🤤✨
