All the bullshit aside, when you break it down they are a great band and put on a hell of a live show! I was lucky enough to see them live several times during the mid-late 90s before they became more pg-13 and the only other band members were the horn section for "Knowledge" and "King for a day" lol

I started playing guitar about 4 years ago after seeing Green Day live. I feel I am still in the beginning because there is so much to learn. I first started learning Green Day songs, then Oasis, then Metallica and The Beatles and The Who. I know loads more but I owe it all to these 3 men. If it wasn't for these and rock n roll I wouldn't be happy with myself and wouldn't be here. Rock n Roll changes lives. Those who say it doesn't and those who say Green Day are shit I have one thing to tell them. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them.

Mike dirnt and Billie used to have sleepovers almost every weekend.
There was a time where mikes dad went to work at 6:00 pm and when he came back at 2:00 am they were still playing. Billie said “ hey look what mike can do” and mike played crazy train and a few other songs from start to finish. Truly an inspiring story.

Green Day is such a good band. And that punk sound just comes so natural to them. I think that's perhaps what I like about them most. If I had to pick a musician in this band that stands out above the others it would be the drummer. That dude is awesome. Love how busy he is and how much sound he feels with that kit. Now you might think I'm a drummer because of what I just said but I am not. I love playing the guitar. But you can't beat a great drummer. And to me the drummer really really accentuates this band well. Love turning on the radio hearing an old Green Day song and just focusing in on those drums.
I remember seeing these guys on MTV, Live New Years night 1994. I was a kid...my siblings enlightened me. What an impressive show...full of energy and rage - clearly they were on something. Fast forward to the 2000's, 2010's and beyond...they devolved into this. Sad.

+1 on the Gladiator. I have a double cut TV yellow Gladiator Junior, cost me $299 in Australia. Set neck, p-90, all vintage correct, all mahogany guitar. It was on par with the Gibson I tried, at about 1/6 of the price :)
