    I think you’ve answered the question that was plaguing me - “which of the three lenses is the most useful if I can only afford one?” I think it’s the direct view because it’s the most amenable for use on a traditional slider. I don’t have a $100K Bolt robot arm, and the other lenses seem more appropriate with robot controlled motion.

      Totally right, i just think the others have such a unique purpose. In fact all of them are unique, but the direct view is the best entry style shot and like you said more likely used on a 100k robot arm.

      @@oliver_howellsCertainly! I think the direct view can replace all three. Thanks for this demonstration and examples. I thought this video could be more helpful and unique if you shot the three scenes with the three lenses.

    Its extremely funny reading and watching a lot of these reviews and this is the first one ive seen so far saying the periscope is actually useful by specifically filming miniatures
    The original Thomas The Tank Engine series built a set of periscopes (though they were straight up and down mounted on a rig rather than having a 65 or so degree angle)

    Thanks for the info. I couldn't find the minature city video you had clips of. Mind linking it?

    Love the last shot. Think I saw a reel where someone put small caster wheel on the lens for more stability

      Thanks mate, really glad you like the last one. That was probably my favourite too. No way, stabiliser wheels? thats clever haha!

    if you have to choose one for all your miniature recordings which one would it be, the 35degree ones? This looks like the best one for me

      I'd probably just choose the probe lens or the persicope. They were my two favourites. Depends on the shot angles you're trying to get

    Great review and very unique angles , my favorite is the periprobe . I believe all these lenses come in PL mounts by default therefore you’ll need to purchased the interchangeable mounts and swap them to your liking mount !

      Yeah the Periprobe is really amazing, I can't wait to see what other people can do with it. I think you're right, all the details should be on the website 👌🏻

    would you recommend these lenses for macro photography? .

    • @oliver_howells
      @oliver_howells  7 місяців тому

      They are definitely great for macro photography. But you do need a lot of light for this lens. I'd personally still go for a macro lens that is built by the camera brand you're using or someone like Sigma. But thats just a personal preference!
