I like any style of video you do. They are all good. You definitely know what you're doing...much, much more than I do anyway. Thanks for all the great and inspiring content. Much appreciated.
Drums being loud in a mix is something that I've noticed as well. I don't know if that's because its sort of the mixing meta nowadays or if that is peak mixing for metal. 😅
Thank you my man! I’ve been finding I learn a lot from watching cinematographers talk about techniques so I thought I’d try this approach with mixing and see if others gravitated towards this style as well
@@BrendonKPadjasek You bet! & Oh sick! Thats a really unique way to approach these types of videos but it’s absolutely working bro!! (At least in my perspective lol)
i make electronic music and learn to produce metal with plugins etc. so i'm coming from the other side of the process if that makes sense, the production side and what you're talking about makes a lot of sense
Thank you! I feel like I can get ideas out without feeling somewhat scripted this way. I would say 100% try it. I often use a plugin called trackspacer that’s basically a multi band ducker and I use it to cut like 1-4k on the guitars everytime the snare goes off. Depending on the mix I’ll start lower like 250-500hz)
I definitely struggle with this. I'm a guitar player first and my guitars are almost always too loud. I want to be able to hear the guitars and feel the mix just isn't right when I can't hear them as well as I would like or think I should. And then I hear a professional mix and notice the guitars are a lot lower in the background. My own personal bias definitely gets in the way of creating that kind of professional sounding mix.
I was definitely the same way so I can easily understand what you mean haha. We put so much effort into the guitars with getting the tone right and everything and then we completely forget that music is really felt with the drums
Would you ever consider to do a video on you add samples to your drums. I believe this could be a unknown technique for lot of ppl. I like the Brendon coffee talk format.
Sorry I’m a noob, but could you explain the drum room thing a bit more? Kick is sidechained to trigger the close room and snare to the far room? Great video man!
You got it! and I either will use the kick trigger information to gate the room so that you only hear the close rooms when the kick goes off, or compress it so that the volume ducks every time the kick goes off. Depending on if I want the kick to last longer or be more explosive. same goes for the snare. but usually I'm compressing the kick rather than gating
Yeah love the flexibility of the rode wireless mics but everytime I use it I hate that hiss. I feel like this is the last video I’ll do with them unless it’s actually necessary
Let me know if you like this style of video!

@michaelj.anderson1116 eh thanks so much! I basically just make videos on topics I wish I had when i was learning
i like when Structures put out new music!
Hahahah so do I.
@@BrendonKPadjasek i mean i'll wait forever but... please don't take forever
i like this style of video. and i agree with you.
Thanks for checking it out!
Only just started using side chaining properly and it’s made such a difference!
oh yeah. It's insane to think of not sidechaining now haha
Another awesome and informative video
Thanks so much for checking it out!

Honestly love how simple yet affective this advice is dude! Love the page 🤘🏼

@TC_Ty_Thurmond haha then at least I’ve reached one haha. Thank you!
i love this style of video
Hell yeah. I do too as I can get the info I want across but it’s not a full day of video editing lmao

Oh yeah. It’s strange the similarities between genres when you start to think about the type of sounds you need and the push that instruments need
I like this format, keep them going!
I haven't heard or tried ducking guitars with the snare before, that's an interesting idea!

Please go over sidechaining the room for drums !
I actually already did here:

let me know if that is what you were looking for

Hahaha thank you! Yeah I’d definitely be interested in that. Great idea.
lol sorry for spamming the comment section. i like the format.
No worries at all that’s what the format is for. I definitely am constantly shocked at how much louder I think guitars are than they actually are

yeah guitars aren't as loud as we think they are that's for sure
Like the topics and the whole style of the video
But
Didn't like the hiss from the mic audio
