    This is gold - thank you. We all see keyboards on stage with some real heavy bands and yet nearly all synth material online seems to feature techno or dance tracks. Something I have no stomach for!

    So..how do we mix those with guitars and the rest? I use presets and they are so harsh, i cut or do LP filter and the thing hust get so dark ut doesnt work. When i say i cut i go around 5, 4, 6, 3khz and is useless.

    • @mammothaudioengineering
      @mammothaudioengineering  3 роки тому +1

      Fair question.
      Firstly, I would say is, it starts with the source tone. If the synth is too harsh from the beginning, work on the tone there. Dial back the high end and see what happens.
      Next, try distorting it. Yes, seriously. Not too much, but try putting the synth through a guiar amp plugin and see how it will smoothen it immediately.
      I did a complete mix breakdown of a cover I did, that was very synth heavy. If you want, check it here: ua-cam.com/video/rez5GF0eUsM/v-deo.html
      There's a second part, too.
      Also, feel free to ask me more questions. I'll gladly help and maybe even make a video.
      Thanks so much for watching, Washa!

    • @fairweatherfriends.
      @fairweatherfriends. 2 роки тому

      He’s Exactly right . You have to find a good overdrive pedal tho. I use an ocd on The high setting with tone all the way up, distortion all the way down, and volume to match the original. It fatten it up , helps it stand out, and takes away the fizzy digital sound. Tube screamers also kinda work believe it or not. Remember…. Turn your gain all the way down.
