Alex FARAUS the speed trap isn't at the end, so it's not the top speed. Still no way McLarens doing 370, though, I don't even think Force India or Mercedes are hitting those numbers with all the downforce this year.
InZomnia365 370 is the all time record (I believe it was Hülkenberg) in Mexico last year, with slipstream, DRS and much lower downforce, so McLaren is not gonna hit more than 325
Maybe he didn't mean McLaren would hit 370kph but the overtaking cars would be 370kph faster than the McLarens

Petidani0330 as an American and IndyCar fan I was thinking the same thing, but only six races in the Indy calendar are oval the rest are Road and Street.
Yes they were. Back in the late 1950s, they had what was known as the Race of Two Worlds, the world of IndyCar racing and the world of sportscar/F1 racing. It was only held twice, and in 1958, all the European teams withdrew. The IndyCars of the day were the high-centered Offy roadsters, run by the very same teams that ran the Indianapolis 500 and the USAC championship trail.
The first edition was won by Jimmy Bryan in his George Salih-prepared roadster with the engine laid on it's side, basically the same car that both he and Sam Hanks won the Indianapolis 500s in 1957 and '58 with. The 1958 event was noteworthy, not just because of the Eurpoean pullout, but also because they ran three heats that combined for 500 miles and Jim Rathmann, in the A.J. Watson-built Leader Card Racing roadster pictured at 1:11 in the video, won all three segments and when you combine the time, he ran the 500 miles in just under three hours. Remember that these races were held before the Daytona International Speedway was even built (Rathmann won the only USAC race held there, as well) and about five years before anyone ever turned a lap at Indy at over 150 MPH.
One correction regarding Jimmy Bryan's efforts in that old Race of two Worlds events, and he competed in both of them. Yes, he won the 1957 event, but he was actually driving for the Dean Van Lines team for which he and won the national championship in 1954 and '56, and was on his way to winning the title again in 1957, and not for George Salih, who had just won the Indianapolis 500 with Sam Hanks. Bryan did drive Salih's car in the 1958 edition of the Race of Two Worlds, in which he finished second not long after he won the tragedy-marred 1958 Indianapolis 500 driving Salih's car.
Another correction that needs to be made in that not all the European teams withdrew from those races. There was a three-car Jaguar team in the first edition and Ferrari joined in for the 1958 running. But their cars were decidedly uncompetitive against the Offy roadsters which, of course, were well seasoned in high speed racing. The Ferrari team even used Firestone tires, instead of the Dunlops the Jaguars ran (remember that Ferrari had run the 1952 Indianapolis 500 with Alberto Ascari, so they knew from experience that the Firestone tires were far more reliable at the constant high speeds that were run than the Dunlops were).

I've always wondered why they don't use the Monza Oval for racing anymore. But now I realize after being at Nascar tracks in the US, it's very bumpy and narrow with no basically no run off space, a crash on this track would be catastrophic.
The movie, "Grand Prix" give a up-close look at the precarious dangers there were with racing on the oval.
