They are magnificent together - when the Edge and Adam starts to play and then Larry on his drums there's nothing more powerful, I could listen to them for eternity! Bono is totally outstanding, his voice is indescribable!
I don't know why but the Edge dancing while playing just makes me happy.

Bono has always been one of the best performers, but to see the passion and soul he puts into a slower song as well is amazing. I've been following these guys a long time, but I honestly don't think I've ever seen that level of soul in one single song ever. Bono isn't just a singer. He's a soul singer.
When she first heard this song, my wife was surprised when I told her it was nearly 40 years old. She said it is timeless and she's right. Boy is such a good album considering how young they were when they wrote it. Still sounds great today.
Most rockstars in their later years don't look as good in young/rocker clothes but Adam is the exception. He looks so badass in those punk clothes and has a great swagger. The man has aged well.

Adamclayton5 Bono actually wrote the song, it is about his mother, who tragically passed away when Bono was just 14.
This was a summer of 1980 written song.

@@sportsnmusic8797 sadly my own father's mother passed away from giving him life it took a beautiful woman in Mexico to feed him...in order for him to live he became a US citizen a Vet of our country working very hard eventually owner of his own business and still has kept fighting for his life with many different obstacles.
He loves his family and friends he always said stay loyal to the people who are there for you don't judge anyone..we all have to stay loyal with love respect and kindness no matter what.. he's a biker a car lover a great teacher and most of all a Excellent father 😘❤️😎 just a fun fact... don't loose your sense of humor in the middle of life's Journey.

I just came from a video of them playing this in 1980 then searched for this. It's interesting how age and experience changes a song's energy. Just as bright, but a little more thoughtful and less reckless. Gave me chills

This a very powerful statement it speaks of the importance of a strong mind Bono wrote it to remind himself of his grief at not being able to be part of Diane’s life at that particular moment when Garff was still young

U2 plays this song like so many of their others live. Like it's the first time and they want their audience to love it as much as they do. It does not matter if it is a new song, a song they have not released or a cover song. This band brings passion and everything they've got at every show.. Antung Baby! Long Live U2! I have happy memories of going mad dancing to this at a U2 concert in 1980 in the St. Francis Xavier Hall in Dublin. the ticket cost me £5. Those early concerts were electrifying. Still love these lads. They belong to Dublin always. xx
