New 2022 Range Rover Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- The Range Rover is a staple luxury SUV. It's a car that, unlike some other Land Rovers of recent times, like the Discovery and Defender, has not needed reinventing. A new one arrives and we expect it to play precisely the same role as the outgoing one, only better.
How, then, does this latest-generation Range Rover get on? It, as previous-generation Range Rovers, has a mostly-aluminium structure and an interior clad with the finest materials. Because it's sold in so many countries, it comes with a huge range of engines and even in two wheelbase lengths. There'll be full internal combustion, mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and a pure electric variant is coming.
It arrives costing nearly £100,000 and will take the fight to other luxury SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes G-Class and more.

This car looks so confident, clean, modern, simple. Perfection !
Always a pleasure to hear Matt Prior's opinion on a new car, the voice of reason. All the other reviewers babble on but even Matt's old reviews are still relevant.
He's comfortably the best in the business. Admittedly, that's actually not saying much, as the competition is unimpressive. Who else is there? Catchpole? Inoffensive, but short on actual, worthwhile analysis and pretty fluffy when you get right down to it. Anyway, Prior is bloody good, just wonder is 'good' is actually commercial?
...babble on about the electronics
I don’t think this latest incarnation is having its brief stretched too far. The demographic this is aimed at, has changed over the years. Most of us would be more than happy to live with this car. It deserves to be well received and do well in its intended markets. Thank you for your usual high standard of presentation.
Lovely car. I think they hit the nail on the head in terms of overall design. Looks superb, nicely proportioned, elegant even when compared to lots of its competition. The German choices are all very ‘shouty’ design wise in comparison.
Agreed. BMW should take notes on what luxury should actually look like.
Class vs Crass
The one and only downside of Range Rover are reliability....I hope they improved this time
Italians, not Germans are "Shouty".
Rangey will always be the king...Excellent, insightful review again from Matt. Production more like a Hollywood movie than a car review...Stunning location.
The design looks super cool. It is minimalistic, yet distinctly Range Rover. One of the best design of theirs I'd say
The Tail light looks so futuristic
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. The New Range Rover Is the World’s Best Luxury SUV
That Car is POSH.
It has this unique presence which is very eye catching.
i'm always a fan of Land Rover and Volvos
_and now Teslas, Jaguars , NIO_
I will buy this one day!
Here before all the comments about how boring Matt's reviews are. If you want shouty, ridiculous reviews, there's plenty of choice on UA-cam, but if you are a real enthusiast who actually cares about cars and what they are, his reviews are a cut above the rest.
But he didn't talk about the elephant in the room, reliability.
Love it and for a moment I think why not… then all the bad experiences of reliability woes set in and I think to myself… life is too short to be stranded on the side of the M6!
The dashboard is a bit of a let down as it looks like it was lifted straight out of a Jaguar F Pace.
It really does look like its from The Future.
I love the shark fin antenna on top of the rear spoiler
RAB suv, kanan-kiri di mesin nya di tambah tutup cover lagi bro..biar rapika dia..gak nampak mesin nya semua hahaha....
Best interior design of any SUV. Sure would be interesting if BMW owned JLR. Range Rover deserves a B58 inline 6 turbo.
comparisons to S-Class & Maybach variant ?
I don't understand why it has only one rear seat table 😕. Are the rear seat passengers supposed to take turns using it? Share it? What?
I have always thought the “lower down” models were the best, and also LOOK the best.
I saw this car in London just yesterday!
This is a King 👑 of all SUV's
Excellent review! I’ll be ordering one in about a year! Waiting on the unveiled sport but I’d prefer the new full size.
Now that the Sport has been revealed, which do you prefer?
Camera seems so shaky. Is the ride still comfortable I wonder :)
In terms of comfort and luxury, how does it compare to the W223 Mercedes S Class.
The L405 was expected to be a luxury car too, it was in theory pitted against RR Ghost etc. This isn't a new development. Smaller wheels and a lighter engine and I reckon the ride would be better in this.
The KING of legendary unreliability has returned!
Lets go, new electric wiring architecture and an N63 for extreme unreliability!
👍
Even worse now, they’ve gone back to BMW engines for the v8 😂😂
2:02 "Long wheelbase 200 meters." 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lovely and very useful car, very pleasing to have one.
In-car camera work was incredibly shaky. Image stabilisation set to green...?
This new Range Rover looks fantastic and truly futuristic and clean in its styling, the interior is very nice too, but not as impressive as the outside. But I’m hearing here refinement is not class leading and that it’s even worse when it comes to the supposedly even more luxurious long wheelbase version…very disappointing, I was not expecting that.
But everyone is saying that refinement is the best in the class.
Love Beachy Head at this time of year. 👀
What color option is this
Not a fan of the standing infortainment display, quarter lights in the front or the steering wheel design tbh
Range Rover is just getting better and better. But it's going away off the mud.
What?
I don't think you watch suv batter channel.
Old Range rover is way ahead then land cruiser and this new one has better angles too
I look forward to the day black wheels will no longer be offered as an option... They spoil a car's proportions
😂😂😂
Look forward
Can't wait to see a review of the electric one
Using the BMW motor...crazy.
I'd say it's a great suv, but I just can't get myself to like it or it's predecessors. From the door line up it's like an upside-down builders skip.
Comments off on the new video, 10 minutes after posting it? Lol. The whole thing was an ad read 🤣.
Is the ride bad or camera OIS is broken?
This and the Sport has to be the perfect car to go EV surely?
Did you say Benleopard or Bentiger ?
Matt Prior is King of good automotive journalism.
Is this Lantau Bronze?
It looks like a comfortable place to sit when your waiting for recovery which no doubt will be a regular occurrence. What terrifies me is ‘Brake by wire’ in a Range Rover! Make sure your life insurance is up to date…
The BMW sourced engines won't do the trick ⁉️
No wonder you turned comments off on your most recent video. Losing all credibility.
Lovely car
When will the car be released?
Don't buy another Ranger Rover until Jaguar/Land Rover fix or recall a well-known and common exhaust manifold issue they don't want to take responsible for. This issue affects at least 4 models; LR2, EVOQUE, DISCOVERY, FREELANDER. They're having owners pay $7300 repair cost for a poor/defective system they are aware of. If "they" don't know, the entire QC team at JLR should be fired for hiding this fact. The exhaust manifold is a three-piece system; the flange(bolted to the engine head), exhaust pipes welded to the flange and the turbo. The problem is with the design of the exhaust pipes bent too close to the flange where there is no possible way to complete a full-circle weld around the exhaust pipes. This leaves an open space where vibration can start a crack separating the flange and exhaust pipes. At 48K, it can start to develop a small crack and when the crack is big enough where the flange and pipes are separated, you can smell exhaust leak/gas in the engine bay. There is a greater risk here where some owners faced dangerous situation when the engine lost power because the turbo finally seized up. I'm afraid to drive my car long distance until the entire exhaust manifold system is replaced. ATM, I can't afford $7300 repair cost so I'm only traveling short distance. JLR love to market shiny, curvy, and technology-advanced vehicles but won't talk much about reliability - they'll leave that up to be discovered by the owners. Would love to see JLR prove me wrong.
Matt is asking if the Range Rover is a Luxury car? 15 years ago AutoCar tested the Range Rover against the S-Class, RR Phantom and Lexus LX for "Best Car in the World". And the reviewer actually chose the Range Rover as his personal winner. So I'd say Matt is a little slow to catch the news here. As for the Range Rover always having been a luxury vehicle, that's less true. The original incarnation back in the 1970's was rather basic and designed as a genuine working vehicle that you could still hose out. It did gradually get much more posh, though, even in the first generation.
He never asked if the Range Rover was a luxury car lol. He asked if it's better than the old one.
What is the exterior color on this?
brilliant it has always been the rr but its going to spend most of its time in the work shops and service centers
Matt Prior is the GOAT 👏
This video is dated May 5th 2022, as at May 25th 2022 they now start at £99,450 !!!
I can’t believe JLR shelved the XJE. Do they hate money?
You've got to be spoiled to another level to think a range rover isn't luxurious enough lol
I wonder how much of your data Tata sell to Amazon as they use their electronics on this jalopy. After all, Amazon does have data values for every market they are present in on a per person per year basis. Expect spam to increase significantly if you connect your phone (as most people will). If the Tatas offer a service plan, perhaps they should offset what they get paid by Amazon towards it to cover at least some of the costs that you would definitely need to factor in when you buy a Range Rover.
It’s a beaut. But not for the masses that’s for sure. This is clearly a wagon for the really well heeled…
Not sure what's going on with you turning off comments on that BMW-sponsored video. We don't mind it being sponsored. But turning off comments for w/e your reasoning is to me is just plain lame. I will unsubscribe. Bye
It is because the award is just a fake marketing campaign paid for by BMW.
Probably the worst car review I’ve ever watched.
It always used to be said, that if you enjoy driving around in your dealers' courtesy car,
buy a Range Rover. Are they any more reliable today ?
Good question. It's the elephant in the room that was not mentioned in this review.
No, they are not! A few friends and relatives own or lease various models, and reliability is shocking! Brand new cars are falling apart! The engine blew up in one car two weeks after the warranty expired! Fair enough, they still fixed it, mainly because the lease company pushed it through but it wasn't easy to get there and it shouldn't have happened in the first place!
Reliability is probably an issue because they make everything so complicated. They think they need to lead the field in every aspect of design and features. The majority of the problems appear to be computer generated.
I wish Jaguar would bit the bullet and build the Jaguar XJ
Something that really bothers me about the Range Rover and other J&L products is how they just have not addressed the reliability. Every single model suffers massively from reliability problems and yet they don't appear to ever address the issue, obviously they sell well but the depreciation on these are just ridiculous because of it, you'll probably pick one of these up for close to 30k in a few short years. I think buying one new is just insanity unless you really do have money to burn.
It's the elephant in the room that was not mentioned in this review.
Ride looks busy
Definitely would ride better on smaller wheels. Some reviews have noted that I6 rides much better than V8 as well.
Why should it be any better than all the other bad gapped lemons they've always made ? Enlighten me!
Those of us who prefer not to drive around in obese heffalumps were looking forward to the now canned new XJ. JLR are dead to me.
👍
Rather get a Land Cruiser 300 series or Lexus LX500 or LX600 that a car that has no real world reliability or resale value.
Just as unreliable as ever...too reliant on rubbish tech causing glitches.
Tiered of MG add. Seriously stop
Hope in Allah for being rich...
Any mention of their awful consumers reports and jd powers scores, abysmal reliability?
Very unreliable car had one spent most of the time at the dealer.
I still want a Bentayga I'm afraid, I dont like the rounded looks, It looks soft now. And £100K plus. But they will sell loads but it had better be reliable as it seems they are going for people with more money now.
What a great used car 3 year old £40k with a warranty of course 😅
One of the worst vehicles you can have for vehicle repairs. Enjoy.
You don’t know that yet for this version
@@pm6711 So take a chance?
☕☕🤤
1st one
SORRY !!!!! don't like it its the first RANGE ROVER I don; t like YUK !!!! No style just bland
Lazy bland-design ethics!
Not sure I agree, it’s not lazy at all, it’s specifically designed to look more subtle compared to something like an X7 which relies on much more aggressive styling. In that respect the Range Rover is a much more cohesive piece of design.
Simply the worst looking Range Rover. long live the 2012 L332 Autobiography.
