I could listen to Russian accents all day, love it! I get in the mood by drinking Stoli, reading Tolstoy and listening to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture ;).

+Kredenz P. None to perfection. I'm fairly good at Danish, my native tongue. And I manage English on kindergarten level. Some German too. Norwegian and Swedish. And very little Russian. I read German and Dutch quite well. Better than I speak it at least :-)
Søren Vemmelund Holy cow!!! Are you superhuman? The reason I asked is because your name has unusual letters but, based on the comments you type, you speak perfect English -- maybe better than me, and i speak only English (and just a few words of Spanish and Russian).
+Kredenz P. Both Norwegian and Swedish are fairly easy for a Scandinavian. Danish and Norwegian is very similar. Separate languages, but almost just like dialects. Bigger difference than British / American English, but still.

When you say a certain severity and describe, it somehow explains every Russian I have ever known.
when i think in russian my head feels much clearer, my thoughts get more creative and at the same time more precise. however, the feeling is not really what you described (i think in my mind i'm tapping into the russian genius of tchaikovsky, dostoevsky, stravinsky, as well as the general cunning required to survive in the sometimes coarse conditions that i heard of the soviet union. i also type better in russian even though i learned it much later than i learned english type)

I may be wrong, but I suppose that the whole goat thing came from the criminal world. In Russian-speaking world's prisons the Russian words for "goat" and "rooster" are considered extremely offensive. Rooster is of course more offensive than goat - but still, it all comes from the prison life, it seems to me.
