I've finally replaced the cheap Mercedes plastic door lock pins in my 2019 C43 AMG saloon.
As promissed in the video I have found the ebay link if you want to buy some of these for yourself.

This is for those like myself who apreciate all the smaller details.
Funny enough the metal replacement pins which fit and look great only cost £5 on ebay!

Hi, greetings from South Africa! I replaced my C43 coupe plastic pins with the OEM steel AMG pins - pricey, but look so much better. They tend to sit a bit lower than the plastic ones so had to adjust a bit. Have also bought the AMG logo for the console (China) - just nervous to get the thing centralised. Another suggested mod, get AMG branded metal valve caps for the tyres - Wish etc - the standard plastic ones are just nasty. Thanks for the uploads and ideas!
Ah that sounds great. Dont worry too much with aligning the badge it was less fiddly than I expected. Good idea with the caps too! :)
The next mod you can do is the changing the centre wheel caps from the MB silver star to the Affalterbach logo. Really dresses the wheels up.

Had the pins for a while but couldn’t find a video that showed exactly how to install them (didn’t want to break anything) just installed them in under 5 minutes n they look great it’s a small thing but honestly it annoyed me from the 2nd day i had the car. Thanks a lot!
That's great, il admit I had mine sitting for awhile till I realised how easy they were to fit! People say it's such a small thing but I notice them everytime u get in the car :)
Did you unscrew the rear door pins or did you have to just pull them out?

Hi what was the Alarm issue ? Was it because you messed ( fitting the mod ones ) around with the OEM door locks ? As if so I’m not going to do it..???
Hey, Sorry quite some time since I made this video. I don't remember having any alarm issues. I've had no issues at all since swapping these out :)

@@SyedReacxts pretty sure that has something to do with the car is locked and he is still sitting in it. I recently found that, if I locked my car and have driver side window down, then I reach inside of my car through the open window, the alarm went off.
For a moment then I thought you said stop going off Caroline 🤣🤣🤣🤣wasn't until I watched again I realized you said car alarm 😑

Thanks for the video. It helped me a lot cause I wasn't sure how to unscrew the old ones and was afraid to just apply the extra force required 😉 My opgraded pins came with some rubber pieces with a hole trough them, do you know where they're supposed to go? Maybe it's inside the top of the pins, cause I'm not sure if they the "carvings" to be screwed on?! Did that make any sense? 😅
Ah, No problem! I went in a bit blind myself so I was worried if they would come out so easily when I filmed it! Hmm! Mine didn't seem to have these so I'm not sure if I'm honest.
@@ABAUTOAMG Thanks anyway. I think it's because I bought the wrong ones. It seems like they fit the 2012-ish models, where the pins popped right off and the the rubber pieces would go over the knob thing and thold the new pins in place... I've got a 2018 coupe and I don't think I'll try it. I'm gonna look for the right year instead.

You need to open the door after turning alarm off or it will auto arm👍

The pin on my passenger side hardly goes down when locking my car. Makes it look like it’s not locked. How to fix this cuz I don’t know the cause. Does anyone know? Chemo brain here so maybe it’s simpler than I thought. Please like so I know if you answered. Cheers.
Hi there, Sorry to hear this issue! I've not come across this myself but it may be that the pin is not fully screwed in and needs to go down much lower while the car is unlocked.
I just ordered Myn too. I Cant believe they made some things so cheap in this car. To be onnest i think the whole car feels a bit flimsy. I Came from a older e class. But i can really see the change . Or better say feel the change
same for me, came from an e class w211 to a w213, it looks premium but there is so many nasty plastic parts and type of stuff, just feels like a dacia sometimes lol, but you pay like 60k+
They do not come off that easy
Love those pin locks, What are the dimensions of the pins? Length, width, diameter (external, internal)

Hi, have you finally swapped out the rear door pins? My understanding is that the front doors are an easy twisting but the rear doors require that the door panels must be removed. Do you know if this is necessary? I have a 2019 e450 saloon. Thanks
Hi Danny, I never did the rears in the end. Heard in was tricky so avoided doing them because they are so minor in the back. Because I've got the blacked out glass in the rear I never see them.

@@ABAUTOAMG hi, just wanted to let you know i replaced all 4 door pins...super easy..all twist offs. I suggest calling your local mb parts department, say you need replacement door pins and ask them to verify if your doors require taking off the panel. Mine did not. Love the metal pins. Hi mate, yep they should fit the GLC also :) Ah no problem, the new tyres have been all good so far! The crabbing issue was very anoying as I'm sure you know.

Do you have the Emotion start? I had my C43 delivered in October and if you hold either of the shifter when pressing the start button it revs higher than normal
And you get some pops and crackles.
I’m assuming it depends on the build date because some people I’ve spoken to have it, others don’t.
Be worth checking for yours
You don’t need to select sports plus either
@@whereslarryat Hi Brett, The little AMG manual that came in the car says it's for c63 and 63s only on mine but I haven't tested it. Will test this morning!
Yep, that’s right, same as my manual. There’s a C43 group on Facebook that had everyone try it - those with later deliveries seem to have it, others did not
Hi Mate, I gave this a go this morning and I'm not sure if it did it, start was nice but dident seem as loud as when I put it in sport+ first.
My GLC43 with a build date of March 2019 has Emotion Start. And like Brett says, it works in any mode.

Do you mean the AMG on the center console? It’s a badge I got from eBay many years ago. It matches the ones in the C63.

Hey mate, I got it from ebay. I got it quite a while ago but only just fitted it so I'm not sure if the seller is still active. Theres quite a few on there though at decent prices.

Hi, In the UK you have to spec for the clock it does not come as standard.

Hey mate, I've only done the fronts. They come in a set of 4 but I've left the tears because I hear they can be a bit of a pain and I never see them so not too fussed!
@@ABAUTOAMG Ah! I ordered them as well and Im going to change them as soon as I get them but all the tutorials that I see, are only fronts that have been swapped. Will let you know if I managed to change back as well.
I just installed mine. They’re actually just same in the front 😁
The next mod I am going to do is to remove the badges. I think it will look cleaner, for me at least.
Do you unscrew when the pin is in the lock (lower) position or unlock (higher) position?
Hi Jtcber, I found it’s easier to unscrew while in the unlock position so you can get a better grip. Hope this helps!
@@ABAUTOAMG Hello, I have successfully changed the pin on both front doors. Both rear doors were unsuccessful. So my question is instead of unscrewing, can I just pull it up? Will pulling up cause any damage to any internal component? Another thing I notice on the new pin on the front is that they site a bit lower than the plastic ones when they are in the lock position. Why is that? Did I do something wrong?
Just bought mine .they do look a lot better than, the cheap and nasty plastic one,s.

welp... found my first c43 mod.
Thanks for the vid. Just recently got a C200d w205 2018 with beautiful amg interior/exterior (has even wood on center console). First car sp very proud of it. But what I noticed right away were those ugly a*s door pins. Got similar ones to yours but just couldnt unscrew the original ones and I wasnt sure if I should use any tools...
They are quite tight I recommend using pliers but wrap a soft cloth around it. Should eventually come loose.
Do they have any that don’t stick out at all?
Hey, I'm not sure you'd probably need to modify the mechanism in the door to do this. You're better off replacing with the nice metal ones.

Hey, I only replaced the front pins because I hear the rears can be a pain. I was told you need to open up the door panel but I’m not 100% sure on this.
@@ABAUTOAMG for rears I believe it’s pliers and pull cause that’s the way it was for my w204. Then carefully press new ones on hard but not too hard.
@@HRGM333 hey! I also own a w204 and I'm having troubles with the ones from the passengers... How much effort should I use to take them out? (I don't want to mess up things haha). And I was wondering, those are shorter? Or same size as the front ones? My AliExpress seller sent me 2 large pins and 2 short pins 😣
Car alarm went off because you locked your car with key fob. Waiting for mine to arrive.

Ah, I'm not sure mate sorry. There will be ones similar designed for the W204 if not. I'd have a hunt on eBay and check.

Love the coupe but I have a 1 year old daughter so needed the extra practicality :)
