Bixby is Amazing, please give it a legit shot for your review. Just by saying "Goodnight" Bixby turns off my bedroom light, turns on the bluelight filter and puts my phone on vibrate. When I'm in a meeting, I say "I'm in a meeting", Bixby turns my phone to silent mode and opens Samsung notes. The possibility are endless with Bixby plus all the other simple tasks that it does really well.
+James Bailey that's cool and all but I want to be able to disable it. You see, that's what makes reviewers and. It's resource intensive and all they allow is to disable the Bixby button without choice of remapping
James Bailey, if I could say to Bixby things like ... "pause notifications for 1 hour, exception Sofie H" ... and it paused all notifications except from that one person, Bixby would win my heart for ever. I'm kinda with you on this, though no disrespect to Erica G and others that want Bixby quarantined from their lives totally
I like Bixby much better than I thought I would. I use but Google Assistant and Bixby. I use Bixby to control my phone with voice and Google more to access Google services.
We've ordered this phone for both my husband and I. Your video was very helpful in getting a jump start in what to expect. We're going from an iPhone 6 to the Samsung Note 8. We've been AT&T users for years, but are so tired of not having good coverage, so we'll be going Verizon for our phones. I'll be checking out your channel for more information on the phone. Thanks for the APP suggestions and the short cut suggestions. I would have NEVER figured that out on my own.
Hey Erica. I have a little tip for the weird wallpaper positioning. If you want to set a wallpaper that you have saved on your phone (& it's not directly from an app like Zedge or Backdrops) then use the app *Quickpic* . It sets the wallpaper on the middle every time where other methods fail
Well, for me, if I set a downloaded background using Samsung Themes that wasn't downloaded from that, it won't pan. It probably does pan if I use a background downloaded from that app. Of course, it being a Samsung app, shows SE Home (actually, the app name is still "TouchWiz Home", it hasn't been updated) for the home screen preview. If I want a background to pan, then I use Nova Launcher. I do have both SE Gallery and QuickPic on my Note8, and primarily use the latter, but still use the former if I want to use Bixby, and/or any other Samsung specific features.
Thank you Erica for your making your videos about content and even providing the exact minute of where to find content on your videos. Really helpful and its the reason I watch your videos over anyone else's. Thanks and keep going!
(Sigh) Another tech reviewer that's dismissing Bixby. I don't get it at all. Bixby is great. It handles Google apps better than Google. For example, I was listening to explicit music when the kids came into the room and I was able to command Bixby to open Google Play Music and block explicit songs. Bixby opened the app, went into the settings and did it!! When I asked Google, I was just given results with step by step instructions. Are you kidding me?? Another example is if you're getting am incoming call while your hands are occupied, you can ask Bixby to answer the call and turn on the speaker phone. How do people expect to get the best SAMSUNG experience when you're disabling or not using it's own apps. People are Installing a 3rd party launcher, and replacing the internet browser, email app, and keyboard with Chrome, Gmail, and Gboard without giving the others a chance. Lol. I used to be that guy, but Samsung has come a looooong way as to where I'm making a huge effort to go stock Samsung. I'll admit, it's a challenge mainly with the sms app. I LOVE Textra, but Samsung messages is growing on me and is optimized for the S pen.
+Ralph Miller III it's an uninvited app and they aren't giving any choice but to disable it. So that doesn't inspire any confidence. If I want an Apple experience I will get am iphone lol
Hahaha she's not comparing the Bixby experience itself to Apple, she's talking about how they're shoving it down our throats as an Apple experience. It is great, but I think because some people feel forced, they are doing everything they can to avoid it. I disabled the press once to launch bixby home to avoid the accidental popup, but the press to hold to talk with bixby is great. I can always tell bixby to open bixby home for me. :P But it's true, if they didn't pretty much force it on us, I probably wouldn't have even looked at it.
sbcontt That's not a bixby problem. That's a voice assistant problem. They're just starting out. I'm sure in a few years they'll be much more advanced. But now, they're just a fun tool to use once in a while. But not exactly reliable, not Google Assistant, not Siri, not Bixby.
Oh please, there are some people who are more used to stock Android. I'm one of them. For me, I absolutely hated the software experience on my Note3, but can live with the experience on my Note8, as long as I use a stock Android theme, and use Navbar Apps to force the nav bar to be black.
Why would she do that, when she can use another launcher that supports this simple thing, especially if she sets new backgrounds every day, or uses an app like google wallpapers that sets new backgrounds automatically ?
Here's an iPhone fanboy! Amazing to see how many Android fanboys post negative comments on the iPhone videos. I don't see that childish behavior from iPhone fanboys on Samsung videos.
SavageArfad ...still far better than those dinosaur apple is offering in 2017 even though is all Samsung tech but water down by Apple to make more money off his fan boys
I have no issues centering images and using different icons with Nova launcher. Nova is SOO customizable you literally might have gotten lost in the app and missed it.
Nice video Erica, clicked immediately when I saw it. Do these disabler apps eat data and battery? Would love your answer as I've read comments saying that these apps are resource hogs.
Daniel Stransky Do it!..........l’ve had the Note 8 for a week and I’m LOVING IT. Been using iPhone since 3GS all the way to iPhone 7 and so far not not missing iOS. It’s early days, but I keep finding reasons every day I use this phone to not ever want to go back
And yeah regarding which watch you should switch to, I would highly suggest you checking out "S Gear 3 Frontier" >> ua-cam.com/video/5Xdvi7g8BdA/v-deo.html
Bro I’m right there with you. I’ve just been struggling with either getting the Note or the S8+. I’m over this apple garbage. They fuckin release the same shit every year and everything for the stupid phones have to be made within that little Apple bubble. They are LIGHT YEARS behind Samsung it’s actually laughable at this point
Erica Excellent video I really enjoyed.I really don't have a problem with Bixby and I as well get bored very easily and just switch it up with Launchers.I have to say I really like the Tv Time app.Definitely loved it.I am really not a big fan of Social media I realised that I get too much of overload of things that I see on the News and Political nonsense that I can turn on any channel to see.I can't tell you how many friends and family try to bring me to which you will see me on from time to time but I definitely don't like Drama but I definitely love seeing the Awesome people who I follow.Love the Reviews and your baby is absolutely adorable.I have two and they are sweet as well but definitely a handful when you have two dogs. Thanks so much Deb ✌👍
And right now T-Mobile is offering buy one get one with a two year contract which it has been forever since I had a contract with them although may be worth looking at for the discount as I am in need of an upgrade.
Mrs. Griffin, I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your videos. You present the info in a concise, yet complete and easy to digest format. I learn a lot from your videos and always try to check your videos when I am considering a tech purchase. Seriously, thank you :)
I'm the same about the home screen and cluttered icons everywhere is one of the main things I didn't like about ios. It is worth mentioning that you can put all your folders in to the edge panel and not just individual apps :) My entire edge panel is just full of colour coded folders for various things.
I setup the home screens on my phone by certain themes. My main home screen has my emails, the Weather widget, and the two main Internet Browsers I use. My second main home screen has my third internet browser, Google Play, the music widget, gallery, my AT&T, and settings. The home screen to the right of the main one is my maintainence screen. Anti-virus, battery calibration, defrag, quadrant standard, and stuff like that. I have a social media, and a games home screen.
Hi Erica, how safe is a third party keyboard ? I like customising my phone. One that I would like to change is my stock samsung keyboard. But I'm kinda scared of using a third party app due to, the developer might slip in a keylogger in it, and record my passwords to email and especially my bank. I use online banking always. Can you suggest a third party app for keyboard that is KEYLOGGER SAFE?
It's your own choice to trust the developer or not. SwiftKey, Gboard and Fleksy are fine, you can trust them. Keyboards I would recommend avoiding are Go Keyboard and Cheetah Keyboard
That TV time app is really neat. I usually just roll my eyes and space out during in-video advertisements, but that one made me immediately go download it. Tried to use your link but was broken for some reason, so I just went to the play store. I've been looking for something like this for a long time. Thanks for the recommendation. I love this channel!
+chris crockett hey, there must have been a server overload because I got the same result but it works fine now with the link. I wanted to show something I actually use =)
Erica you should try the Google Wallpaper app. You can select a category like "landscapes" and set it to change your wallpaper everyday. It looks stunning on the Note 8.
One of my favorite apps is the MyRadar App. It lets you zoom in to your location, any state, alaska, the florida keys, bermuda, bahama, africa, canada, mexico, etc basically the whole world. Not only does it show storms but also were earthquakes have hit.
For BK Disabler, BK Plugin 2 and BX Action; do you have to use a PC or can you use a Mac? I would like to get rid of some bloatware but I think its going to make me use a PC lol
I think this video differs a little from your usual ones and it's a great one! Keep up the great work! Thanks for suggesting the TV apps :). I can't wait to see your review! My setup is not really customized since I own an iPhone 5C, but I want to upgrade to the Note8 since I'll be able to customize it as I want. I mostly have social apps, a few games and picture editing apps. I also use lots of Google's services!
Thanks for the useful information, but I don't know why so many reviewers keep dissing Bixby. Yes, it's not fully evolved yet, but it will continue to improve. The primary value of BIxby is that it can do a lot to control the phone, and Quick Commands (allowing the user to execute a series of commands with one word or phrase) is extremely helpful if you've tried it. I use Google to seek information from the 'outside' world, as it provides more comprehensive answers than Alexa or Bixby (and probably Siri). But I can ask Bixby to open apps, change settings, and do other functions... oh, and I can say "Bixby, turn on the flashlight."
I am sooooooo excited! Now I can have a dedicated button for my flashlight! YAY! As someone who works nights, and out in the middle of nowhere, the flashlight is my most used thing on my phone. Well, other than Audible and PocketCast.
Bixby doesn't compete with Google Assistant, they both complement each other. I initially hated Bixby when I heard about it. But after using it, now I love it!
in nova we still can center the backgroud there is tric, download the wallpaper in galary and set it though nova wallpager by long pressing home screen. It does work for sure.
Google assistant doesn't work with 3rd party apps or with settings and such. They work great together. Bixby can do a lot of things google assistant can't.
Hi Erica! Love your channel. Do you integrate your Note8 or other android devices with your MacBook like iPhone users do? After returning my Note7 I went back to iPhone SE while I waited for the Note8 to come about. In the meantime I've found the integration and communication between my iPhone and MacBook rather handy. Now that the Note8 is here I wonder is there still a disconnect with android devices and MacBooks or have you found a way to join the two together in a more harmonious way?
I love Bixby Holding down Bixby button, commands/questions I use are:- • change screen resolution to HD+ • maximize screen resolution • turn on game mode • mark all emails as read • send this webpage to XYZ on WhatsApp • open contact and search for XYZ • do I have an alarm set for tomorrow? • show me pictures/photos from today/yesterday/#of days ago/"Monday" • close all apps • restart device • turn on/off flashlight • show/open recent apps • search internet for Nutella recipes • optimize device performance • open edge settings • check for software update • mark all emails from Bed Bath Beyond as important • send all emails from Twitter to SPAM • remind me when I get home to do... • clear all notifications.
15 well spent minutes. Great job. I had discarded the note 8 as my next device because of Bixby and the launcher. I'm also a Google user.....but I miss the screen and the s pen....now I may reconsider it.
And I'm stuck with a Galaxy S5 with a cracked screen & the panel itself is coming off the frame & I can't do anything about since I got no money at all...
Hey Erica, I agree with you on clutter. I can't stand a cluttered home screen. Love the clean look that you have set up, and I may try that L-shape. I do like the concept. Keep up the great work on the vids.
Hey .. thanks for sharing, that was a very interesting insight and extremely practical approach. Loved it. Keep the videos coming. Well Wishes from the UK
Great video! Quick question. Do you still used the Note 8 today? Or did you get the iPhone X? Also I like the idea of starting fresh with a phone and both restoring, but what do you do about messages?
Great content! Thats a cool way to suspend & remap Bixby although I kind like how it can handle complex task. Can't wait for your full review Erica ;) Cheers! 🍻
Your reviews are amazing. You are sooo underrated. There are some who have like 5 million subscribers and they aren't worth shit. Just eye candies, that's how.
I lived in Korea for 5 years. Their bloatware is way more useful than American bloatware. Love phones from Korea. Let me know when you decide to sell the FE
Themes work well with Nova Launcher all you need to do is refresh the icons by doing t+each same thing you did with Evie Launcher. The only issue with it is the wallpaper that to me is a minor thing since I mostly use a flat black wallpaper anyway.
Thanks for the video! I am giving Android a try for the first time and I like the Note 8 but couldn't stand the Bixby button. I have now put it to much better use!

Erica Griffin hey Erica
Erica Griffin sorry but i use bixby alot....so unfortunate u dint give a try
+iAmSmartthings I did and I just don't like it. It offers nothing for me
Erica Griffin "Quick Command" and "Custom chat" are my flossy factors...So u just hate it, for your own reasons, of which i don care about
+iAmSmartthings someone is getting butt hurt. Why comment at all other to complain if you don't care what I have to say lol?

Yay, I am getting the Note 8 next month and having videos watching my future device is so nice
Marshall Bircher I got the note 8 a few days ago and man this phone is good
Marlon josue Yeah, agree 100%. I got mine Monday and haven't been able to put it down.
I have it its nice
I like Bixby much better than I thought I would. I use but Google Assistant and Bixby. I use Bixby to control my phone with voice and Google more to access Google services.
I've just got the Note 8 - absolutely luv it 😁📱❤
I can't take my eyes off from seeing the Gorgeous Note 8 screen, good review

gotta love QuickPic, gets better every year
Nova also has an option for no wallpaper scrolling that centers the wallpapers
Thank you Erica for your making your videos about content and even providing the exact minute of where to find content on your videos. Really helpful and its the reason I watch your videos over anyone else's. Thanks and keep going!
Bixby is very interesting! Need to be improved but it's the future!
I love Nova Launcher on my S8. I use Samsung Package disabler to disable my stuff. I use a HUGE Digital clock widget on my homescreen
(Sigh) Another tech reviewer that's dismissing Bixby. I don't get it at all. Bixby is great. It handles Google apps better than Google. You can tell the lack of experience with Bixby when it's compared to anything from Apple. Uh...no.
Hahaha she's not comparing the Bixby experience itself to Apple, she's talking about how they're shoving it down our throats as an Apple experience. It is great, but I think because some people feel forced, they are doing everything they can to avoid it.

If you want to center the wallpaper on Nova Launcher, go to Nova Settings -> Desktop -> Wallpaper Scrolling -> Off
+Đorđe Milosavljevic that still doesn't work.
+Đorđe Milosavljevic it's still off center it just doesn't scroll
Erica Griffin Long press the home screen and open wallpapers, try and center it from there.
+Đorđe Milosavljevic like I told you, nothing works. Did I not say I tried everything lol
Why would she do that, when she can use another launcher that supports this simple thing, especially if she sets new backgrounds every day, or uses an app like google wallpapers that sets new backgrounds automatically ?
Where are the iPhone fan boys here. Wake them up and let them see how this phone can be personalised the way iphone can't
Why are you so bothered about apple users? Are you really that insecure? Use what you want to use and let others do the same.
Here's an iPhone fanboy! Amazing to see how many Android fanboys post negative comments on the iPhone videos. I don't see that childish behavior from iPhone fanboys on Samsung videos.
I mean, if people want to use iPhone then let them be. Such a nosy person. Smh.
Why are android users always talking about iPhone instead of enjoying their phones?
SavageArfad ...still far better than those dinosaur apple is offering in 2017 even though is all Samsung tech but water down by Apple to make more money off his fan boys
Finally you do this!
Erica, Great review. The question i have, is Note 8 over iPhone 8 Plus? Note 8 a no brainer?
I recommend using substratum to save your phone battery, it’s on XDA Developers channel
You should try the app More Icons. The widget shrinks your icons so you can have more on your home screen but take up little space
I just got my Note 8 and looking at your videos for updates and info, thanks....
I have no issues centering images and using different icons with Nova launcher. Nova is SOO customizable you literally might have gotten lost in the app and missed it.
I Love My Galaxy Note 8 along with Zedge..................
Nice video Erica, clicked immediately when I saw it. Do these disabler apps eat data and battery? Would love your answer as I've read comments saying that these apps are resource hogs.
I’m getting so close to making the jump to android with how painful Apple has been lately, both in hardware and software for the new phones and watch.
Do it and you will never regret (such a true experience from an ex-iSheep)
Daniel Stransky Do it!..........l’ve had the Note 8 for a week and I’m LOVING IT. Been using iPhone since 3GS all the way to iPhone 7 and so far not not missing iOS. It’s early days, but I keep finding reasons every day I use this phone to not ever want to go back

I am in the same position, and each video I watch about the note 8 or androids convinces me more and more.

That Bixby button re-map tip, was AWESOME!!! Thank you!!!
I switched from Iphone to this & i love it!😀 it's wonderful to have a phone that doesn't fight the user every step of the way 👍
This girl gives the best reviews! Also she explains everything so well. Thank you
Great job as always!!! Love the app suggestions!
I love note 8
Nova launcher, I love this woman already.
Yea, the Note 8 was the best $502 I ever spent to this day.
James M how did you spent only $502?
Daniel N. Maghiș Previous Note 7 owners got a $425 discount with qualifying trade-in device.
And right now T-Mobile is offering buy one get one with a two year contract which it has been forever since I had a contract with them although may be worth looking at for the discount as I am in need of an upgrade.
Just would need to locate a buyer for the other part of the deal...
James M Verizon gave me $480 for my iPhone 7 Plus. My note was only $480.
Mrs. Griffin, I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your videos. You present the info in a concise, yet complete and easy to digest format. I learn a lot from your videos and always try to check your videos when I am considering a tech purchase. Seriously, thank you :)

mobuis juan i have the same question, im using swift keyboard.please answer somebody for this
It's your own choice to trust the developer or not.

Erica you should try the Google Wallpaper app. You can select a category like "landscapes" and set it to change your wallpaper everyday. It looks stunning on the Note 8.
Great video Erica! So is the Note 8 your main daily driver or was this just for a general review?
It's hilarious watching people with small hands try to use a note 8
One of my favorite apps is the MyRadar App. It lets you zoom in to your location, any state, alaska, the florida keys, bermuda, bahama, africa, canada, mexico, etc basically the whole world. Not only does it show storms but also were earthquakes have hit.
This was so scary for me because i use every single app you use except the games. i love your videos keep up the great work .
For BK Disabler, BK Plugin 2 and BX Action; do you have to use a PC or can you use a Mac? I would like to get rid of some bloatware but I think its going to make me use a PC lol
I bought the S8 Snap edition 2 weeks ago for 570 US dollar.
Feels good man, definitely a gorgeous phone in midnight black
Raddest nerd discovery of the day! Thank you, lady girl! TV app is a jackpot find, too! Hooray 🙌
Glad I found your vids! I love how you time stamp your videos.👍🏼
8:42 I love that cross-eyed starfish in the background. f'n adorable! :)
Nearly 3 months on and im still lovin it 😊📱🖊😍
BIXBY is one of my favorite things on my note 8. One word or phrase and I can change multiple settings and avoid scouting through menus
Thank you so very much this very useful & awesome video😊
Classy app advertisment placement!😎💪👌👍
The thing I love most about your videos is that you don't play backing music
Thanks Erica. Great video. Love the remapping the buttons. I hadnt thought of doing that. Nice tip.
Thanks for the useful information, but I don't know why so many reviewers keep dissing Bixby. Yes, it's not fully evolved yet, but it will continue to improve.
If you want to get your wallpaper centred in Nova Launcher the best way is to go into settings>desktop>wallpaper scrolling>disable.
Give Bixby a chance! I'm guessing it's perfect for Hands Free driving!
so is google assistant
Google assistant doesn't work with 3rd party apps or with settings and such. They work great together. Bixby can do a lot of things google assistant can't.

SAW9 I agree. Bixby is great to operate the phone.
The only problem I have with bixby is that it has to be absolutely quiet. Google can hear me over almost anything
I love this video, looking at this videos helped me setup my phone so fast and easy.
Bixby Remap is a Godsend. Every Note 8 owner should subscribe to this channel just cause she broke this down.
enjoy your reviews better than most videos on this topic.
I love my Note 8 and this video was really good and you look beautiful btw. 😁
I love Bixby
Holding down Bixby button, commands/questions I use are:-
• change screen resolution to HD+
• maximize screen resolution
• turn on game mode
• mark all emails as read
• send this webpage to XYZ on WhatsApp
• open contact and search for XYZ
• do I have an alarm set for tomorrow?
• show me pictures/photos from today/yesterday/#of days ago/"Monday"
• close all apps
• restart device
• turn on/off flashlight
• show/open recent apps
• search internet for Nutella recipes
• optimize device performance
• open edge settings
• check for software update
• mark all emails from Bed Bath Beyond as important
• send all emails from Twitter to SPAM
• remind me when I get home to do...
• clear all notifications.
Great video! So glad to see a way to avoid the dedicated bixby button. How's battery life been?
how can i delete search bar in evie
Link for that black wallpaper, that first wallpaper of this video
Great vid! And I've been wanting something like TV Time for a long time. Thanks!
In short, thanks for the tour.
As for Bixby, ... Jimmy is promo, on UA-cam, has a plethora of walkthroughs on it.
15 well spent minutes. Great job. I had discarded the note 8 as my next device because of Bixby and the launcher. I'm also a Google user.....but I miss the screen and the s pen....now I may reconsider it.
I have to really give props to Samsung for this beautiful device. I prefer iOS & I'm still using the iPhone 6s Plus. I was let down by the iPhone X.
And I'm still stuck with this shitty huawei p8 lite....
And I'm stuck with a Galaxy S5 with a cracked screen & the panel itself is coming off the frame & I can't do anything about since I got no money at all...
I'm on the note 3
Sithhy damn, im on a S5, works perfectly
Thanks for showing those bx remappings!!! That's inspiring.
Hey Erica, I agree with you on clutter. I can't stand a cluttered home screen. Love the clean look that you have set up, and I may try that L-shape. I do like the concept. Keep up the great work on the vids.
L shape is a great idea especially on my S8 plus. Thanks
90% of this video is her complaining about Bixby and Samsung bloatware. Other 10% is her Sponsor. Great content!
That TV Time app looks really good.
Hey .. thanks for sharing, that was a very interesting insight and extremely practical approach. Loved it. Keep the videos coming. Well Wishes from the UK
Great video! I grabbed both game suggestions. What sms app do you use? Keep up the awesome work! Subscribed!
That icon L shape is kind of nice looking!
Great video! Quick question. Do you still used the Note 8 today? Or did you get the iPhone X? Also I like the idea of starting fresh with a phone and both restoring, but what do you do about messages?
I could change my bixy button for the camera so great ,thanks
Thanks Erica for watching your fun videos. I like your talk
Wowww Galaxy Note 8 is Such an amazing Device.. 😍😍😍
Outstanding video! Have you considered putting a skin on the back to deal with smudges?
This phone is amazingly better than my iPhone 7 Plus. Going to upgrade to this in a week 😊👍🏼
Themes work well with Nova Launcher all you need to do is refresh the icons by doing t+each same thing you did with Evie Launcher. The only issue with it is the wallpaper that to me is a minor thing since I mostly use a flat black wallpaper anyway.
tv time ♥♥♥ i knew i forgot to install something back onto my phone when I got my note8 :P
Good one
Thanks for video! I love BK Disabler, now I need to check out some other customizations you use.....
Thanks for the video! I am giving Android a try for the first time and I like the Note 8 but couldn't stand the Bixby button. I have now put it to much better use!
