Ok, I got to admit, when I first started watching this video I thought "Oh whats the big deal, I can change settings faster by just going into them than by using Bixby." But then I watched the "Goodnight" part. Holy crap thats awesome.
Daniel Cordoba no it's NOT!!! i loved bixby at first. But because it lost my data, everything I taught was gone with it which is unacceptable. I then installed google ai to the dedicated bixby button now it's all sweet. Google doesnt lose data like bixby. I'm not stupid to give a bixby second chance.
Basically, Google Assistant - searching in the web, or google databases. Bixby - controlling your phone in any way Amazon - controlling your home Siri - useless xD
SocketByte I'm not even sure why Siri exists! If Samsung had Bixby when the s 5 was out? Think of all the possibilities that would have happened way back! Although I have an iPod touch, I rarely use Siri for anything, always been a fan of Android through and through! I, a blind Android User certain way will be pleased once I get my Galaxy S8 next month.
Siri isn’t useless :b but I have to admit...the Bixby quick commands alone kinda blows Siri out of the water....definitely thinking about going back to android....
Great breakdown, I've always been curious about the basic differences. I agree Siri is useless lol. What about Cortona? (Has GP app now kinda annoying though)
Bixby is good but I love being able to use the Google assistant as well, it's the perfect combination. I came from using iphones and i still think iphones are good phone but i am so glad i switched, I love my note 8!
vgman94, I love the size of the phone, the screen to body ratio is amazing and the screen is a beauty! If you don't like big phones then this might not be the phone for you, I would get the Galaxy s8 instead but coming from a iphone 7 plus the size wasn't an issue.
I might switch to note 8 from iPhone 6 ... it so hard to leave apple once you get sucked in... if Samsung pay is just as good as Apple Pay and I can get my music over from Apple Music to Spotify then I will do it... my question is how is Samsung pay and if you have a gear smart watch how is the mic on phone calls?
Michael Benedetto, I too had a hard time leaving Apple, specially because of my Apple watch. Android wear and the Gear s3 do not come close to Apple when it comes to app support for the watch but I will say my gear S3 does not disappoint and has been better than any android wear that I've seen. The mic on the gear s3 is really good! I was really impressed with it. As far as the Samsung pay goes, in my opinion it is better than Apple pay and even android pay because I've been able to use it on places were Apple pay and android pay were not available. if you switch in my opinion I can say you won't be disappointed, the phone has been smooth and more than capable and had exceeded my expectations. Let me know if you do switch and what your experience was with the Note 8. Hope this helped.
Lee i thought bixby is something that i will never use... but i give it a chance and it really give me a lot of help when the phone is out of reach n while im driving.. not to mention all the setting i have to go through.
Thank you so much! I haven’t given Bixby enough of a chance and this makes me want to use it. I have tried all the basic stuff in the past but didn't know her true potential. I love the custom voice commands that can be linked together. You sir just earned yourself a new subscriber!
Because I like to use voice commands for the camera I have to turn off the voice response for Bixby and use the Bixby button. This is a great option in this circumstance. And a good reason to keep the Bixby button active.
Wait... why didn't Apple keep those people? Why'd they let Siri languish into a dumpster fire? Hell, even Steve got to try it shortly on an iPhone 4S before he passed and was NOT impressed. Yet, Apple keeps pushing Siri as powerful.
James Rowe I honestly wonder the same thing. Siri from Apple, what a joke! It's one of the main reasons why I'm getting my Galaxy S8 next month. After hearing over 20 different UA-cam videos about Bixby over the last three months or so, I am quite impressed! With all of the commands that Bixby has, no UA-camr can give Bixby Justice in just 15 to 20 minutes. I am a blind Android User, though have an iPod Touch four things that the screen reader on Android can't do as well with a specific Android app.
Thank you for the awesome video. I always love your videos. Thank you for all the work you put into them. You're one of the best reviewers on UA-cam. I love Bixby the plethora of possibilities.
I was skeptical based on bad reviews however once I purchased my note 8 I absolutely love Bixby. Granted it has some growing to do but I see great things ahead
This are the real videos we need to understand what we really get when we buy this pieces of technology. Thanks for the tips and way professional your job.
Although I’m an iOS user at time, I must say that this review sets an example for other “reviewers” of how explaining things to people, should be!!! Excellent!!!
Oh man, I was hoping you'd do a video on Bixby! Always learn something new from your videos. I may need to turn my "Hi Bixby" sensitivity down because you started a new collage with the last 4 pics I had taken lol.
Techisode TV you deserve, a gold star! Fantastic review! You have inspired me to make a Bixby Universe playlist on UA-cam, featuring any and everything to do with Bixby voice. Picking up my Galaxy S8 next month, for this exact reason! Yes, I am over excited. :-)
Bixby is lame!!! We need to vote for ability to select an AI of our choice to be assigned to the dedicated AI button on next generation mobile devices %) Bixby will loose users data after certain amount of time and it's a huge lame flaw!!!! Techisode TV Another great video and want to thank you for that! I had another idea for another video, but it might be time consuming on your point to get all the information together. When I first got my Note 8, I wasn’t expecting to use Bixby. I love Google Assistant! I hate Siri! Cortana is ok. So as far as I was concerned I was going to just use Google Assistant. I wouldn’t even open it because I read some articles that told me there were some technical issues that if you used Bixby it would mess up the Google Assistant. Well my friend tried it and there were no issues. So I decided to give it a shot and I liked it. I’m not sure if I like it better than Google Assistant. So I tried to start to do an experiment and I learned of somethings that I could do with Google Assistant that I would not have realized if I didn’t try Bixby. I agree with you that they work best using them in conjunction with each other. For example, you already said for messages you would use Google Assistant and I agree with you. Mostly because I use a different texting app then the Samsung app. However, I was finally able to teach it to use my app, but I still think Google is better. Well I know when I want to send an email Google Assistant only uses Gmail and Bixby only uses the Samsung email app. Again I use a different app for email, I finally got Bixby to open my email app, but I can’t get it to compose a new email. I’m not sure if it will read an email because I haven’t tried it. I am going to try to see if I could use the dictate command inside quick command to see if I could get it to work. It would be great if you had some ideas. I’m getting off topic. My idea. Since we agree that Bixby and Google Assistant can be used together for best performance. And now I’ve realized there are even some items that I had no idea Google Assistant could do and still unfortunately others that Bixby would be better. How great would it be if you could do a video that compared the 2 working together and maybe we could compile a list of which one works better with which items. People can add to the list by posting their individual experiences. Also one last thing is there anyway that we could create a quick command that could include accessing Google Assistant? That could be interesting. I just thought of that now because then we could create quick commands that would truly use the best of both. I know a lot of people that feel Google is best for searching and Bixby for settings and while I agree generally. I’ve found scenarios like texting that doesn’t hold the generality true. What are your thoughts? Obviously, I think it could be interesting. I also think to try and change habits you’ve already had with using Google Assistant is tough and also to remember which AI works better for what is tough, too. Thanks again for doing what you do.
Hello, I have a quest about Good Night part. I set it up and how would I get it to go to sleep, or turn the light off. I have it set for 10 minutes. I also have a good morning one, where I get date, time, weather, and it cleans in the device care. Would I have to change the sleep time at night, and re-do the 10 minute til it sleeps?
I really liked this video, the things that got done when you said goodnight was cool!! With my S6 Edge Plus, I could say answer and the phone would answer. Is there something easy like that with Bixby? I've figured out how to make a short cut to answer but not on speaker phone so it's useless at the moment. TIA

Fantastic I dint know it could do some of those things, plus I had my Note 8 beside me and every time you said " Hi Bixby" My note 8 Responded. Thought that was funny.
I was watching this on my Galaxy tab and my S8+ right next to me , and everytime being said "Hi Bixby "😀😀😀 it just turned on bixby on my phone . Now I have pictures in collage in my phone , and the same staffs what is in the video as well 😁😁 pretty cool and really fast !! I don't know how but my phone was slightly faster then in the video :D
If I ask bixby to move available apps to my SD card... will it be able to? This is related to the issue that when an app is updated, it relocates from sd card to inner storage
I guess I'll turn it back on and try some of the quick commands. I have had mixed luck with getting it to recognize what I want it to do while driving, but being able to yell at my phone and tell it to shut up (mute ring and notifications) would be cool. Love my Note 8, but Bixby wasn't a factor in the purchase, so I just saw it as a tweaked Siri (mostly useless.)
Great video but was wondering if you could help me. I've been trying to add multiple tasks into a quick command but my quick command section doesnt look quite the same. My Bixby home and voice are up to date. Any ideas what I can do?
How do I do now to locate settings of BIXBY, I had to disable the voice command, so you can take pictures with the voice command, because it does not work if connected the command of BIXBY's voice.
Please help. Trying to use the command "update all my apps" but Bixby keeps going to play store and selecting "my notifications" instead of going to "my apps and games" and updating. Bixby tells me "something went wrong". I am using the s9 currently.
I can open & play music on Spotify but when the music start to play it wont activate/register if you try to talk to it & thats even after changed in the settings that it SHOULD listen to you while music play. Would be nice if you could skip a song, lower, raise the volume or mute/pause, but no.
To people that say bixby is a hassle, personally i also thought bixby is something that i will never use... but i give it a chance and it really give me a lot of help when the phone is out of reach n while im driving.. not to mention all the setting i have to go through. Bixby really make it easier..
DAMMIT I really want the note 8.. The dual cameras.. absolutely beautiful.. that display... The stylus... and if course.... Bixby. I have the s7 edge and I ALWAYS use Google assistant... Like.... ALWAYS.. there hasn't been a day which I didn't yet.. she's just so useful especially with homework. I can ask what ever question I want and she almost all the time gives me straight answers rather than send me links. She's also very smooth to talk to with quick and not repetitive replies. She's truly great for searching but my gosh Bixby will make my life easier with quickly doing things on the phone without touching it or doing much.
Fun tip, you can retrain the bixy wake up. Mumble "hi" as quiet as you can, then say bixby loud. Do it enough times and set high settings. And she will only wake to bixby, so you don't need to say hi. That being said. Google assistant is better for search results. But Bixby seems like it can control my phone for me.
MY BIXBY VOICE WAKE UP DOES NOT WORK FROM AOD SCREEN AND SOMETIMES FROM AN OPEN APP. I TRIED CLEARING THE CACHE, RETRAINING VOICE, TURNING OFF THE PHONE. ANYBODY KNOW WHEN 2.0 UPDATE RELEASING?? HOPE SAMMY FIXES THE BUGS?
What keyboard are you guys using with Note 8?? Please at message me I am so curious. I love Google G board but wondering if stock keyboard in the long run will be better.
Kudos on giving Bixby a chance and not simply dismissing it because it is different. Your video is very useful.
Ok, I got to admit, when I first started watching this video I thought "Oh whats the big deal, I can change settings faster by just going into them than by using Bixby." But then I watched the "Goodnight" part. Holy crap thats awesome.
People need to give bixby a shot. It’s surprisingly good.
yeah... i had way too high exceptions for it and was still surprised by what more it could do
Daniel Cordoba no it's NOT!!! i loved bixby at first. But because it lost my data, everything I taught was gone with it which is unacceptable. I then installed google ai to the dedicated bixby button now it's all sweet. Google doesnt lose data like bixby. I'm not stupid to give a bixby second chance.
I am right now. Totally useless!
lol what did you try?
I was shocked at how good Bixby is! It rocks! Beats siri!
I've watched dozens of Bixby videos, and this, by far, is the best. Thank you.
Bixby is way better than I thought...and I thought it was already amazing.
Basically,
Google Assistant - searching in the web, or google databases.
Bixby - controlling your phone in any way
Amazon - controlling your home
Siri - useless xD

Trenton Matthews Got mine about a month ago, you'll definitely be happy with it.
Siri isn’t useless :b but I have to admit...the Bixby quick commands alone kinda blows Siri out of the water....definitely thinking about going back to android....

How do you deal with the phone's large size?
vgman94, I love the size of the phone, the screen to body ratio is amazing and the screen is a beauty! If you don't like big phones then this might not be the phone for you, I would get the Galaxy s8 instead but coming from a iphone 7 plus the size wasn't an issue.

Danny Chavarria thanks for helping out I really appreciate it
Your video instigated me to re activate Bixby to give it a fair chance.
Lee i thought bixby is something that i will never use... but i give it a chance and it really give me a lot of help when the phone is out of reach n while im driving.. not to mention all the setting i have to go through.
Same
Thank you so much! I haven’t given Bixby enough of a chance and this makes me want to use it. I have tried all the basic stuff in the past but didn't know her true potential. I love the custom voice commands that can be linked together. You sir just earned yourself a new subscriber!
This is the first video I watched on Note8 full screen without cropping. Thank you
You bet! 👍
Techisode TV When I saw you were thoughtful enough to frame your videos properly for this new format, it was an instant "subscribe."
This video earned a subscription from me. Its nice to see somebody see the potential bixby brings to the table.
Seriously the BEST hands on tutorial of a phone's benefits I've ever seen!
Jesus man, u are a genius! Never knew all these are possible on a smart phone. Great work man, thumbs up!
Very informative and well presented ....thanks for sharing
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
dlorbieski i
This is mighty impressive!! A Lil slow but kind of tasks it performs is nothing short of fantastic!!
Because I like to use voice commands for the camera I have to turn off the voice response for Bixby and use the Bixby button. This is a great option in this circumstance. And a good reason to keep the Bixby button active.
Bixby v2 coming soon...can't wait to see the improvements😊
Hopefully it actually works... that would be a higher improvement
So excited! :)
brown bobby what is viv tech?

This is the best video on how to make Bixby useful. I've avoided the feature, but for select procedures, Bixby could be good.
I was skeptical based on bad reviews however once I purchased my note 8 I absolutely love Bixby. Granted it has some growing to do but I see great things ahead
You are a blessing to youtube. Thank you for all your in depth, thorough and useful reviews. 👏👏👏👏💪

Wow... Thx to you i started to use Bixby and i think Samsung should support you for making such a good video... SUBSCRIBED
Turn on the Bixby button again :)

Lol, that's awesome 😄😄. And thanks, I'm glad you find the videos helpful!
You are the only one to do this type of video in detail
Well explained review of Bixby 👍.
Thanks!

I LOVE this! I added the app update to my good morning quick command ❤ great video.
I am updating to an S9 soon. Can't wait to use Bixby. Thanks for all the tips. 👍🏻
Quick commands is simply amazing. Thanks for the guide!!!
My idea. Since we agree that Bixby and Google Assistant can be used together for best performance. Wow!!! Awesomeness!!!!!! ❤️
Excellent informative video and you've made a subscriber out of me!
Awesome! I'm glad you liked the video and thanks for the sub!
This blows my mind just how amazing this phone is! I can't wait to get a Note 8!
Great tutorial. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for making it wide shoot. Awesome video, Bixby has a lot of potential WOW!
I really liked this video, the things that got done when you said goodnight was cool!! With my S6 Edge Plus, I could say answer and the phone would answer. Is there something easy like that with Bixby? I've figured out how to make a short cut to answer but not on speaker phone so it's useless at the moment. TIA
Impressive video production . Impressive demonstration. Well done mate! You have a new subscriber.
This demo is helping to inform my decision on whether to leave the Apple ecosystem, which seems to serve my lifestyle less with each successive iPhone iteration.
I thought my next new phone decision was a done deal... just grab the next model of iPhone, login to iCloud, then just lay back and let it happen.
But it turned out I really didn’t like the very latest model. Yes, I like the underlying ecosystem of iCloud since i’m very familiar with it and I have a family plan for device and app store purchase management, which works awesome. New phone transitions are ridiculously easy with Apples ecosystem.
But their latest phone device actually requires a new learning curve of both muscle memory and logic.
I figured if I have to extend that much effort to get onto their next platform, and I really don’t like the hardware and screen dimensions, compared to my iPhone Plus’s screen, then it might be time to research if anyone else has better solutions for me. I’m certainly glad I did. And this excellent and fun video shows just why.
Now the problem for me to solve is figuring on which Android platform vendor to select, to make the leap of faith.
I’m using several virtual assistants on my iphones, laptops and smart home appliances. I’ve had the best experiences so far with Google Assistant, Cortana and Alexa. But there’s only one real contender with a native phone integration, or so I thought.
I had no idea Bixby existed until I started researching the Note 8, and found your video demonstrating this Samsung tech. Absolutely amazing. And, as you’ve also demonstrated, the ability to combine Bixby with Google Assistant... I think I’ve found a winning combo.
I can install Cortana and Alexa apps on a Note 8 or S9 device and have virtually all bases covered for my requirements.
If only I could get Bixby and a Stylus on an iPhone 8 Plus chassis... Apple... are you listening??
Thanks so much. Looking forward to your future videos.

Who else got their Bixby activated while watching this video?
Change your sensitivity to medium.
No my didn't it just activates by my voice
Quite remarkable.
Bixby is underated, it is the best there is for controlling every aspect of your phone. Great video.
Am a huge fan of your videos👌👌keep it up!
Thanks! I really appreciate that :)
Fantastic I dint know it could do some of those things, plus I had my Note 8 beside me and every time you said " Hi Bixby" My note 8 Responded. Thought that was funny.
Very informative video! I have always liked Bixby, but, did not all it could do. Thanx.🙂🙂
This was very informative for someone who finds bixby a nuisance. I'll give it a second try... Thx
Awesome! You definitely brought this to life for me.
Glad to hear it! :)
Great video! I'm saving this on my favorites for when my Note 8 arrives! :)
You drop so many jewels in your vids... Thanks!
Excellent explanations! Thanks, Eric!
Will you be making a 100 tips for the note 8 video?? Please say yes!
Those were great tips, haven't seen alot of them anywhere else
You should do a video on shooting video with the Note 8. I've shot some footage that came out super grainy on mine.
I noticed every time you talked to bixby that numbers & a letter kept coming up ie - 1X or 5X , what is that all about please ?
how did you do the first thing with bixby I have s9 and cant do much with her
If I ask bixby to move available apps to my SD card... will it be able to? This is related to the issue that when an app is updated, it relocates from sd card to inner storage
I love your videos and I love note 8 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thanks! And yeah, the Note 8 is a beast!
What is the shopping list app that you set as always on display?
Great tips. Thanks for sharing them.👍👍
Thanks! I'm glad you liked them :)
Thanks for the crop to zoom compensation lol I love using up the whole screen on my s8
+Nadun lochana perera You bet! 👊😎
Great video but was wondering if you could help me. I've been trying to add multiple tasks into a quick command but my quick command section doesnt look quite the same. My Bixby home and voice are up to date. Any ideas what I can do?
I have a question: where did you create your shopping list, to-do list, etc., initially for Bixby to edit? It doesn't look like notes.
Hey awsome video. Very informative. What app do you use for your notes?
How do I do now to locate settings of BIXBY, I had to disable the voice command, so you can take pictures with the voice command, because it does not work if connected the command of BIXBY's voice.
This is my favorite UA-cam channel!
Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate that :)
Hi is there any possibility that we can use bixby custom chat in 2019 after the one ui update?
I can't set up the shopping list - any advice?
How did you get Bixby to read your message outload?
Would like to use when doing some training
In the command list just appear scan QR code, but not barcode, how you do it for scan barcode?
What text app are u using and how is your note pad background black with white texts?
What commands do you to get bixby to read out what you typed? Thanks 👍 😉
Could you please try and help me with that command where it reads out what you have told it to say?
Any chance you can help me with this?
can you have Bixby move updates to apps to the SD card every time there is an update?
Thank you, thinking of reactivating Bixby again
Please help. Trying to use the command "update all my apps" but Bixby keeps going to play store and selecting "my notifications" instead of going to "my apps and games" and updating. Bixby tells me "something went wrong".
I am using the s9 currently.
in which app you are making shoping list nd all?
Great Video. I learned heaps. Thanks Mate
For some reason Bixby will not do a string of command in my written commands. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Help pls.
I have the exact essentials as you the gear s3 frontier and the note8 great combo..
12:21 "Goodnight" was insane.
13:20 One day home robots will be making that Oatmeal mix for you.
I can open & play music on Spotify but when the music start to play it wont activate/register if you try to talk to it & thats even after changed in the settings that it SHOULD listen to you while music play. Would be nice if you could skip a song, lower, raise the volume or mute/pause, but no.
What is the voice command to Bixby to turn off and on the data sync? I've tried many ways
Shenoda Nabil turn off sync in settings
can Bixby speak in other languages whatever you say or type?
"show battery usage" is a very good shortcut i use constantly
Nice video ..please Does bixby work offline too ?
I've asked several times how did you get bixby to read out what it said to the viewers?
Your video teaches me a lot about bixby, i will subscribed :) Thanks ...
very nice video thank you :) appreciate your time and effort
What keyboard are you using on your phone in this video?
To people that say bixby is a hassle, personally i also thought bixby is something that i will never use... but i give it a chance and it really give me a lot of help when the phone is out of reach n while im driving.. not to mention all the setting i have to go through. Bixby really make it easier..
Do you use the stock Samsung keyboard?
I'm on the Note 8 and the video is NOT full screen. Do I need to change something in the settings?
Is there any way to change how bixby is summoned such as "Hey Bixby" or "Ok Bixby"?
Thanks for this video :D
People need to hate on Bixby because they like Google assistant. This are just completely different assistants
+Django Groen Very well said. Two different assistants for two different purposes 👍
dudeyou turned my phone into max power saving mode with your voice, hilarious haha
