    The first time I dismantled one of these, I remember being amazed by how many screws there were in there! I don't think there are that many holding my shed together!
    Great video as ever!

      Thanks. Yeah, there are quite a few screws in this one - probably way more than necessary to be honest. That said, taking one apart on camera for the first time in years, going by half memories, can be a bit daunting. Next time I'll do it off camera - great for me, not so great for channel content!

    So many innuendos! 😂
    Could have done with this last year.
    I’ve taken lots of the modern Tardis toys apart, can do them with my eyes closed. Lol
    But that Pertwee was a bloody nightmare! The buggers had glued it together! 🤬 Lol
    Fantastic vid as always.

      I do enjoy the odd game of innuendo bingo from time to time, but obviously I couldn't get any by you. You must be a master at this game.
      Oh, the Pertwee boxes are glued together? That'll be fun to take apart!

      A childhood watching the Carry On films has prepared me for this moment.
      The battery door was heavily glued the rest was more tacked together.

      Regarding the Pertwee boxes, that doesn't sound so alarming now, so I can sigh with relief. I thought I was going to have to change my plans.
      I've always loved the Carry On movies, everything Kenneth Williams ever utters, along with his contorted facial expressions and Sid James' dirty laugh. Priceless.

      Dive straight in with a difficult question there! That's a tough one. Okay, I'll tell you a few that I really like; Carry on Constable, Carry on up the Khyber, Carry on Jack and Carry on Sergeant. How's that for a few of my favourites? Essentially any of them without Barbara Windsor or Frankie Howerd in them.

    This was great. Will be handy if and when I come to have a go and customize one or even repair. Good to know where all the screws, springs and tabs are. The only one I've taken apart is the Dapol one! But the walls were supposed to open up.

      When you do yours, eventually, you can do it with a little more care than me - especially when it comes to the electronics. But good luck and I'm glad you've found it useful - that's what it's for. Oh, and I too have taken the Dapol one apart, a few times... and broken the little clip tabs.

    Hello. Thankyou so much. Just what i was searching for. Want to customize my 3rd Doctors Tardis without electric into a Tardis with electric. And with 3D interior. Do you have maybe some left soundplates you dont need?😂🙏🙏🙏🙏😍😍 ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏 this is sooo greeeaaaat!! Otherwise my plan was to build in a bluetooth audio board with micro mp3 card but have to learn completely into electrics first for this. No matter. Everything for my doctors. 4th doctors Tardis needs this too later.

    Is there an option to get that glued battery case open at that 3rd doctors Tardis set? What do you think? Wanted to use it again as battery case.

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  5 років тому +1

      I really don't think there is a way to remove the battery cover without damaging it as I believe it is solvent welded into place, rather than glued. You may get lucky and just be able to force it off, but you'd have to carefully test this first.

    I've just bought a 3rd and 4th Doctor Tardis in the Character Options range - and in both cases the front left pillar bows outwards in the middle a little bit. It's a tad annoying. lol. I guess I've been a bit unluckily to have it happen twice. But, it's not a deliberate design feature - as I've seen these models without the dodgy pillar. You're so knowledgeable, is there an easy fix (without my needing to dismantle the toys)?

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  4 роки тому

      This seems to be a common problem with these toys and it appears to boil down to how they were assembled at the factory. Unfortunately, the fix does require dismantling of the box. That said, you could try to loosen the base screws under the affected side and twist the box back into shape - and hope that it pops back into position for you.

    • @malvanlondon8683
      @malvanlondon8683 4 роки тому

      Loosening the relevant screw totally worked on one of the Tardis toys and slightly improved the other. Thanks for your help. :-)

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  4 роки тому

      I'm glad that worked out for you. The other one may need a bit of internal fiddling with. What happens is that if the walls aren't quite lined up properly before screwing together, this can cause the bow. There is another screw in the ceiling at the front on both sides, if you can get a screwdriver in there (on the bow side), loosen that one and try the same thing, give it a bit of a tug and a twist - it may suddenly pop back...

  • @bigladbat

    Do you know how to get the coil back on the opening door bit ?

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  4 роки тому

      Looking at me taking it apart here, it looks like you have to hook the spring back onto the disk and then rotate it anti clockwise until it's tight. Then you just screw the screw back into place. Basically what I do in the video, just in reverse.

    i dont know if anyone else thinks this but dose anyone else think that the CO 7th doctor tardis looks like the one used in dimensions in time (at least the signage) because it reminds me of it (also extra note did the eight doctor lamp covering have a dome on the top of it or not)

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  4 роки тому

      It should look like that prop because it was the 1980's fibre glass prop, just with new signage. As for the TVM TARDIS, it's difficult to tell what was up there, but it certainly doesn't have a pronounced dome.

      I'm glad you have that much faith in my abilities, cheers. While I have done just the classic boxes here on this channel, I have made new series boxes as well, mainly at full scale and I'll no doubt do some more on camera when I have the space and funds to do it, however when it comes to the new prop for the 13th Doctor, I've not actually had access to it to measure it, unlike the previous versions, but it looks very easy to recreate. I have had thoughts on doing a quick and dirty replica of it, but as to when I'll get around to this, well, your guess is as good as mine. Thanks again for your comment, I do appreciate it.

    Wel... I've gotten as far as the roof. On the Shada B&M TARDISes my weathering effect has sealed up the seams on the roof and Ive got a crack and a couple of marks on the TARDIS. I could return it to B&M and swap it out for a new one... maybe...

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  5 років тому

      It's probably been glued together, rather than the paint weathering sealing it, either that, or the lugs holding it together are really tight - I wouldn't know without looking at one. If you've started investigating it to do the customisation and already marked / cracked it, B&M may frown on that and not give you a refund...

    I’m trying to dismantle the b&m TARDISes but annoyingly the paint and weathering SEALS the roof and grasps onto plastic so I can’t take the roof off and get my actual light inside the lamp on the roof. 😡

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  5 років тому

      A few people have mentioned this to me recently. It looks like these sets are actually glued together, though I haven't looked into this myself. It's frustrating, especially if you want to modify them. If it's just the paint sealing it, you could try running a blade along the seams, but if that doesn't help, then you'll know for sure that they are glued.
